Cottage With Indoor Swim Spa in New Forest National Park for families or couples
Detached New Forest cottage in village of Frogham. This year we have added a heated indoor swimspa to the cottage, it has 3 controllable swim jets to swim against at one end and a benched hydrotherapy area at the other.
This is our home which we used to only rent out during the school holidays, it is certainly not your bland holiday let. It has a homely, characterful feeling and is furnished accordingly.
My sons are letting a property in Godshill, which has been renovated for the past 5 years. It sleeps 6 and has a cedar hot tub which is in a covered cedar structure - please see VRBO uk 10275131
It has a south facing cottage garden with a private gravel drive for several cars. Due to the location within the New Forest National Park, ponies, cows and donkeys roam the surrounding roads and area - and seem to favour our driveway entrance as a sunning spot. There is a pub The Foresters on the crossroads which has recently changed hands and the food has improved according to a recent guest.(March 25)
This is a home from home, a smart TV with apps for amazon prime, netflix, catch up TV, plentiful books, dvds, games, and basically a fully functional 'everything' - because we live here when not on holiday in one of our other homes.
The cottage has a traditional kitchen with an heartwarming AGA for the cool winter months. It also has a renovated 'Fordingbridge' cast iron range - which has only ever been used in power cuts - but nevertheless makes a great addition to the history of the cottage.
The living room has an inglenook with functional wood burning stove. The oak staircase leads up to a landing with bookshelves and storage.
One single bedroom has a single bed with guest bed below (John Lewis, which converts to a 5 ft kingsize bed). The bathroom has bath with shower over, wc and basin.
There is another single bedroom with handmade oak bed with new mattress. This is where the travel cot is housed.
The double bedroom has a pocket sprung divan bed and a small ensuite with wc, basin and shower.
The garden is a typical cottage garden, with countless seating areas throughout the garden and sun loungers in the tried and tested sun traps.

Well I am pleased you still enjoyed your return visit to Crossroads Cottage. Jane and Sue take great care to prepare the house for guests. The swimspa is a bonus for water loving guests. The only thing we cannot control is the weather, so you had your holiday at the right moment. We hope to welcome your family back to Frogham
Delightful first stay at Crossroads Cottage.Spacious but cosy cottage. Having an indoor pool was a key factor in choosing Crossroads and we made good use of it. Location was perfect... lovely walks and sharing the heathland with horses, ponies, donkeys and cows was an added delight.
Check in was easy with good communication from host. The cottage is like being at home with everything available that you're likely to need. The swim spa an added bonus. It is in a perfect quiet position for seeing wildlife and the pub is across the road!!

I am pleased you enjoyed your break in the New Forest. Crossroads Cottage is a home from home and as you say the swimspa is an added luxury for your stay. It is lovely when guests like the cottage as much as we do and the location is perfect for seeing animals at the gate, walks, visits to ‘attractions’ and of course the pub.
We are a 3 generational family of 5 and had an amazing stay at Crossroads Cottage. There were so many books, puzzles and games to enjoy and plenty of space to relax in when we were not in the beautiful New Forest. The location is great but the highlight for us was the indoor pool which was warm and so much fun on a wet day.

Excellent that is lovely to hear. The pool is an added bonus, we leave the books etc to give guests other things to do if they like reading/puzzles or games. The New Forest is a special place particularly when there are baby animals around in early summer.
I am pleased crossroads cottage met your expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, I am pleased you enjoyed your stay. You will be warmly welcomed if you do return. You had a warm week for October, with some sunshine however Autumn was certainly starting to show itself in the mornings.
The Aga is going on this week and the oil top up delivery has been booked. Jane said she will be changing over the duvets this week, in readiness for the colder nights.
Lovely area and relaxing pool! We enjoyed our stay with walks across icy fields seeing donkeys and horses and then swimming in the nice pool. House was clean and well supplied.

I am pleased you enjoyed your second stay at Crossroads Cottage, it was certainly cold this week. We put the Aga on just for you, which would keep the kitchen warm and toasty.
Beautiful house in a great location, lots of nature all around with horses and donkeys passing by daily.
Great location for all kinds of visits and activities, we especially loved the archery available at just the other side of Fordingbridge. The pool was a huge bonus, very unique and great fun.

I am so pleased you enjoyed your holiday. The new forest is a lovely area and the animals are everywhere. the swims-spa is fantastic, but I am biased of course. The archery sounds interesting. our sons grew up here and the New Forest was literally their playground at Hyde school, swell as a place to cycle run around and play in the stream.
This cottage has everything. It is in a wonderful location for walks, pub across the road and a private swimming pool. The little touches in the house were great, swim robes and towels, a welcolme basket of lovely wine, biscuits etc. We will definitely come back here. Kids and us had a lovely time.

It is lovely when guests return. The new forest is a special place and is well located for most families requirements. The swim spa is an added feature to spend some time in the holiday.
We enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very comfortable. The location was beautiful and peaceful. Well placed to go for walks and cycling in the forest and only 30 minutes away from the beach.
We enjoyed using the indoor pool and appreciated the robes and towels for coming out of the pool.

I am pleased you enjoyed your stay. As I say in the description it is peaceful compared to the more southern tourist areas, whilst being close to many sttractions visited by tourists and locals alike. The pool is beautiful, I still like looking at the tiles , even after these years.
The new forest is a special place to holiday in and live in.
Amazing and well equipped cottage for a lovely relaxing holiday. Marvellous pool and Spa really enjoyed it. Feel lucky to have found this idylic holiday home. Had a fabulous week . Thank You

The New Forest is lovely at this time of year with baby donkeys and foals at the gate.
Of course we are biased as it is our family home too!
We had a wonderful week staying at this lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the world. The cottage provides everything you need for a comfortable stay with the swim spa being an added bonus. Perfect base for exploring all that the New Forest has to offer.
Highly recommended.

I am pleased you had a lovely time, we try to provide everything for a happy holiday, the only thing out of our control is the weather!!
Have a great summer!
Most years, we have spent the bit between Christmas and New Year in the New Forest. This is by far the best cottage we have rented. Perfect location - the ponies, donkeys and deer are literally on your doorstep! The cottage has a log-burning fire for those cold nights and a spa pool to relax in after a long walk on the forest. We could not recommend highly enough…

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Crossroads Cottage at such a special time for your family. The New Forest is a special place and we are fortunate to see animals at our gate. The swim spa is a luxury but lovely to wind down in and keep fit.
It is our home so to that end we hope it makes our guests feel at home - we love our wood burner, it is not only makes the house cosy, it helps eek out the oil as it heats the house and water too!
How unique to have animals at the garden gate. Wonderful experience and would revisit again.

It is, even when it is your 'home', the baby donkeys still are as cute as ever each year.
The only downside is having to make sure the gates are closed and that they cannot reach your rubbish on a Friday.!
It is a privilege and we are fortunate to see them every day. I am pleased they made tour holiday special and gave you fond memories.
Angela
We had a wonderful week with everything you could ask for… great walks on the doorstep and a local pub with great food.
We absolutely loved the cottage and made good use of the swim spa which was amazing.
We will definitely be back. Thank you Angela

Amazing property
We had a super holiday here at February half term. The house is just as described, fully equipped and always warm with the Aga, the owner was very helpful before and during the stay. The swim spa is a tremendous bonus, especially for children, our granddaughter was in every day and the temperature was always 37C degrees. We would genuinely recommend this to anyone. It was quite amusing having donkeys by the gate and wandering around the crossroads

Thank you for your review. I am pleased you and your family had a great break. I cannot take credit for the donkeys, they are a part of life in the New Forest and it is very easy to take them as 'the norm' of living in this area.
The swim spa is great, the temperature can be reduced for those who want to take advantage of the jets and swim in the pool. So it can be both relaxing and 'healthy' depending on your requirements.
The Aga is great for the cooler months, although February this year has proved to be an early 'summer'....but I am not complaining!
Both the cottage and the pool were perfect for a relaxing week away. We had very mixed weather, but with so many lovely walks within eady reach we were able to make the most of the dry weather when it arrived. We enjoyed daily relaxing dips in the pool, cosy evenings around the log fire and cooking up dinner in the well equipped kitchen. The Foresters Arms and The Potting Shed were both within easy reach and great for eating out. The only downside was that wevhad very heavy rains overnight that flooded a number of the country lanes and cut off the village for a day... but with such a lovely place to stay that was a minor inconvenience.

Thank you for your review, a holiday week with Storm Ciaran was certainly not booked, I think we were all unimpressed by the rain and winds. The only upside to where the cottage is that it is located at the top of a hill. Unfortunately the bottom of the hills were flooded!
Crossroads Cottage is lovely and cosy when the weather turns bad though and some exercise can be had in the pool or walks with wellies!! I hope you return one day.
About the host
Hosted by Angela ZW
We are a family of four, we have 2 sons aged 26 and 30. We live in a cottage in the New Forest which we restored over 3 years and have subsequently extended. We both had careers but enjoyed restoring our home so much that we carried on developing in the UK and renting out properties. It is now our means of income and way of life.
Why they chose this property
We bought the cottage as a derelict shell in 1984 - it was 2 small new forest cottages of cob, brick and slate. The house is in a great position to start walks/cycle from without the need to resort to a car. We are in a small village which is a ribbon development. There are horses, donkeys and ponies on the road outside and a wealth of other animals in the surroundings. We spent 3 years working on the house and have since extended the house and added a conservatory. The cottage is classed as a small dwelling, so no huge extensions for us, It has retained its cosy cottage charm and we have added a modern twist. The house is 2 miles from Fordingbridge where there are all the shops and services you would expect from a small town. Larger facilities are in Salisbury - 12 miles, Southampton - 20 miles and Bournemouth - 16 miles.
What makes this property unique
A car is required to access the property as we are in a rural area with no public transport as such - once there, with supplies for your stay, a car is not really required. The cottage is perfectly based to start circular walks/cycle rides from. We never tire of walking from the cottage - there are pubs very close or at longer walking distances for pub lunches or summer evenings. This is a home from home - for real, we used to let the cottage out in school holidays, but now it is all year as we can fit our stays accordingly with our travels abroad. The house has everything you would expect and more. It is a cottage so expect low ceilings, small rooms, inglenook, wood burner, wifi, antiques, aga (for a few weeks in winter only due to cost) but it has the luxuries of modern life-dishwasher, oil central heating, double glazing and even a swim spa. It is a home so we have all our pictures, books, and games even a phone to use to call family in the UK or mobiles in the UK. The area is not brilliant foe mobile signals but we have a private fibre network in the village.
