This property is lakefront with a dock and the location is excellent on a quiet road. All BRs are masters, which was perfect for our group of family members who are all over 18. We loved being on the lake and enjoyed kayaking, stargazing, soaking in the hot tub, and just lazing on the waterfront. We also had fun biking, hiking, riding the Wisp Mountain Coaster, and white-water rafting.
Challenges included extremely poor lighting in the house, which, coupled with dark paneling, made it very dark and difficult to see at night (especially when working on the jigsaw puzzle in spite of placing 5 lamps nearby). It could be that higher wattage bulbs would help?
Another challenge was the water: it smelled and tasted strongly of sulphur no matter how long we ran it; the temperature was either low or fluctuated so a hot shower wasn’t possible; and it continually sputtered coming out of the faucets as though it had been turned off for a long time. We’ve rented properties at various locations for nearly 20 years and have never encountered water like this! This could be something true of all properties in Deep Creek, but it was surprising and unpleasant.
Folks at Railey were pleasant, addressed other small questions we had, and responded quickly when we called to say the oven wasn’t working. (But hey, keyless check-in should be available especially when the office isn’t nearby.) All in all we had a terrific week, but we would not return to this property.
