Relaxing family holiday

A perfect holiday home for our three generation family holiday. Good road connections but also a very peaceful rural location. Close to the lakes, safe beaches and beautiful historical towns. Also a lovely garden to relax in on down time in the day. A highlight was a tart made with plums freshly picked from the orchard. Last but not least a friendly and welcoming host :)

Great and cosy house

We enjoyed our stay very much in this cosy house with the beautiful garden. Due to the weather we could spend much time in the privat garden and enjoyed the pool. Lynda is a very friendly and helpful host. She was very discreet, but when we had a question, she answered very quickly.

Charming house in Dolo, Côtes-d'Amor

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! * Owner - Lynda was wonderfully helpful, discreet, considerate.* Garden - this was our favourite aspect of the house. Well kept, diverse plants, trees, delicious plums, grassy area, various seating, and a small round pool that my daughters enjoyed circling.* Kitchen - well equipped and not over equipped, clean, attractive, with a convenient layout. * Check-in and out - all easy since Lynda was next door and was most accommodating.* Rooms - good. I particularly liked the en suite attic room because it was spacious and peaceful. No door though, so you can hear everything from downstairs. Living room comfortable, attractive, and well set out. Dining table easily big enough for six of us.* Location - we appreciated the peaceful location. There's a small lake nearby in which you can wakeboard and play on the inflatables, both good fun. At Jugon-les-Lacs, nearby, you can sail, paddleboard, and so forth. For swimming, we drove to the coast because you can't swim in the lakes.* Local people - really friendly. A lovely community.

Peaceful retreat in the countryside

We stayed at Le Chardon for 9 nights at the end of July for our first holiday to Brittany. Lynda only lets her house out during the Summer months, hence why other reviews of the property aren't that recent or frequent. We therefore felt lucky to be able to stay in this lovely cottage. During your stay, Lynda stays in an attached property - not that you would know - this does add some reassurance that should you encounter any difficulties during your stay, there is someone on hand to help. Lynda is most helpful but unobtrusive and works with you to ensure that she is able to maintain the pool and garden during your stay but keen to ensure that she stays out of sight and sound. The booking process and communication prior to our visit was very good. Upon leaving, we felt like we were leaving an old family friend! The property is in a very peaceful area as described and the garden is lovely to relax in however you do need a car to travel around to make the most of your stay. Dinard airport is only around a 20 minute car journey away and the coast, as well as towns of interest, 20-30 minutes away. The local village is a 5-10 minute walk away and has a creperie/restaurant that we visited one night and a similar car journey away Jugon les Lacs where there are two or three restaurants and a small supermarket for essentials (larger supermarkets are available in Dinan) During our holiday we enjoyed visiting Dinan, St Malo, Rennes, St Cast le Guildo, Bayeaux & the Normandy beaches (a 2 hour drive away), Mont St Michel and Paimpol to name but a few. The roads around the cottage are lovely and quiet, even during the school Summer holidays along with many of the local towns and villages (with the exception of the busier coastal towns). We were pretty lucky with the weather during our stay so we managed to make use of the pool, whilst we spent a good amount of time travelling around it was nice to be able to pop in it for a dip on our return. The garden is spacious enough for kids to run around and play safely. Plenty of loungers around the pool and a patio/BBQ area. The house itself is tidy and has everything you will need for your stay and more, including unexpected essentials that we have previously had to buy in other self catering properties such as dishwasher tables, wash powder, loo rolls, washing up liquid, hand wash etc. The Breton biscuits and tart were a lovely touch on arrival too! We would definitely recommend Le Chardon!

Un îlot de calme et de sérénité avec une maison propre et bien équipée, et surtout un magnifique jardin, tres bien entretenu, propice à la détente et au repos. une hôte très accueillante, discrète, empathique et disponible. Une maison magnifique, au calme, un très beau jardin avec des petits espaces à l'abri du vent ou à l'ombre ou au soleil où chacun trouve sa place. Pas loin d'un magnifique village, des lacs pour pêcher et des chemins géniaux pour se balader ou randonner. Des activités pas loin pour nos ados accrobranche, wakeboard, vélo, pédalo ... Nous sommes très impatients d'y retourner.

Haus in ruhiger ländlicher Lage

Wir haben das Haus als Ausgangsbasis für Tagesausflüge mit dem Auto in verschiedenste Regionen der Bretagne genutzt. - Cap Frehel - im Westen bis zum Pointe de Corsen (längere Fahrzeit) - im Südwesten bis Carnac (längere Fahrzeit) - im Norden Granitküste bei Perros-Guirec - Erquy - Saint-Malo - Le Mont-Saint-Michel - Dinan - Omaha-Beach / Normandie (längere Fahrzeit) Da wir sehr viel unterwegs waren und das Wetter in unserer Urlaubswoche nicht warm war, haben wir den Pool nur zweimal benutzt. Der Pool wird täglich von der Vermieterin gereinigt. Der Garten ist sehr weiträumig mit etlichen Sitzgelegenheiten und Liegestühlen. Das WLAN im Haus funktioniert gut, die Kinder waren zufrieden. Die Fotos vom Haus und vom Garten sind zutreffend. Die Vermieterin ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Es liegen viele Reisetipps bereit. Wir fanden sehr positiv, dass es zwei Badezimmer gibt, eines im ersten und eines im zweiten Stock. Sehr positiv fanden wir auch, dass wir alle Schlafgelegenheiten im Haus nutzen durften.

Agréable séjour à la campagne

Ravissante ancienne maison bretonne parfaitement équipée entourée d'un très joli jardin abondamment fleuri et parfaitement entretenu. Salon de jardin, piscine hyper propre nettoyée chaque jour par la propriétaire, très gentille qui loge à proximité de la maison et qui est d'une extrême discrétion tout en étant disponible en cas de besoin. Fabulous stay in a beautiful location

We had a wonderful time at Lyn’s beautiful Gite. The house was very well stocked and had everything we needed and was in a very peaceful location but within an easy drive of stunning beaches, the lovely towns of St Malo and Dinan and under an hour to Mont St Michele. The garden was beautiful and the pool was great after a hot day! Lyn was a very kind and unobtrusive host who gave us lots of great suggestions of places to try. Would love to return again one day!

Super holiday cottage and location

Le Chardon is ideally situated to enjoy a great holiday in the beautiful Brittany countryside. It's 40 minutes from the ferry port at St Malo and other great beaches along the coastline, close to great places to visit like Dinan (20 minutes) and Mont St Michel (60 minutes). Dolo is 5/10 minutes walk away and boasts a nice bar/restaurant serving burgers/pizza/salads etc (but no boulangerie unfortunately). However, Jurgon Les Lacs (a lovely small town) is only a 5 minute drive away and has numerous nice restaurants/bars, a boulangerie, small mini market for groceries etc, weekly market. There's a larger supermarket just over 10 min drive away. The lake is great to walk around and offers watersports, fishing etc. and whilst we were there there were lots of festivals taking place which we enjoyed. Lynda is a lovely lady and a great host. She stays in a small cottage adjoining but is totally discreet. We barely saw her although she was always there if we needed her and provided lots of info for us to get the most out of our stay. The cottage was immaculately clean, well equipped and very, very comfortable. The garden is lovely with areas to sit and eat, an orchard, and a large lawn with very comfy sun-loungers. It was very hot whilst we were there and the children spent much time enjoying the pool which Lynda keeps very clean. It isn't heated but was perfect for us. The children making lots of noise whilst having fun wasn't a problem either. We had a lovely holiday and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Le Chardon to anyone.

traumhafter Urlaub in der Bretagne

Wir haben einen wunderschönen Urlaub mitten in der Bretagne erlebt. Das Ferienhaus ist genauso wie Linda in der Anzeige beschreibt. Haus und Garten sind schön gepflegt. Der Pool wird von Linda jeden Tag gereinigt und war für unsere Kinder ein großes Vergnügen. Von hier aus lässt sich die Bretagne wunderbar erkunden und Linda hilft gerne bei Fragen, sei es wo die schönsten Stränden sind, wann und wo die Markttage in der Umgebung sind oder wenn eine KfZ-Werkstatt gebraucht wird. Vielen Dank für alles!!

Logement très propre et bien équipé. Piscine très propre aussi. Grand jardin très agréable, fleuri et calme. L'hôtesse est aux petits soins des vacanciers, envoie par SMS des informations de visite. Voiture indispensable car logement assez isolé, mais très très au calme, idéal pour se ressourcer!

Das Ferienhaus liegt in der Bretagne in einer zentralen Lage, dadurch ist es möglich alle umliegenden Sehenswürdigkeiten zu erkunden. Das Ferienhaus ist für Familien sehr gut geeignet. Vor allem der wunderschöne und mit viel Liebe angelegte Garten lädt zum relaxen ein. Die Vermieterin, Lynda, gibt gerne Tipps für Ausflüge, Restaurants und sonstiges. Sie ist für ihre Gäste stets erreichbar. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

semaine agréable, maison charmante qui montre quelques limites si plusieurs adultes

Nous y avons passé une semaine : - la localisation est top, calme, sécurisée, proche grands axes et villes. -Lynda est une bonne hôtesse, très discrète et disponible. - La maison est charmante & bien équipée, dans la cuisine où il y a tout pour cuisiner ! mais aussi barbecue, fauteuils bains de soleil, machine à laver, étendoir à linges dans le jardin, ventilateur...). -La piscine est très bien entretenue ! -Le jardin est une vraie beauté et full équipé pour les enfants ! - la literie est top top, les lits 90 encore + (un peu - pour le lit 120 mais le lit 160 qui est au 2e étage est très bon). -Les sanitaires sont commodes et les deux pièces ont douche & WC. -La maison est fraîche même en cas de chaleur ! Certaines choses sont cependant moins bien, et c'est notre avis bien personnel et notre expérience évidemment: -La chambre 3 est bien aménagée, les lits y sont bons MAIS elle est difficilement accessible-> escalier de meunier très raide aux petites marches. Cette chambre est en + une mezzanine - > aucune (aucune !) isolation phonique (si quelqu'un fait quelque chose au rez de chaussée on l'entend comme si c'était juste à côté de nous, aucune intimité dans les chambres en dessous même si les personnes chuchotent); et peu d'isolation à la lumière même si bons stores occultants. C'est dommage car chambre idéale pour nous 4. -La maison peut accueillir 8 pers, nous étions 4 adultes, un 3 ans et un bébé et ça nous semblait déjà exigu, surtout que nous avons eu la pluie donc avons dû rester à l'intérieur. La pièce à vivre est plutôt petite et le manque d'isolation = jamais de réelle intimité pour discuter en couple par exemple ou être au calme. -l y a une ferme à côté: par temps humide les odeurs charriées sont assez fortes et bcp de mouches. -la maison n'est pas pratique pour les PMR ( wc à l'étage, étroitesse des passages, Ex: entre fauteuil et sofa & accès voiture,...). - un chat y vit, normalement pas en notre présence mais pb pour les allergiques. pas de produits de base tels que pastilles LV, lessive, huile/vinaigre, sopalin, un peu de thé ou sucre. Cela peut paraître excessif mais au tarif de 1300€, l' on peut s'attendre à un petit minimum de départ. Par contre savon + produit vaisselle ok. -pas de paillasson, et par temps de pluie = une montagne de chaussures dans la petite entrée... Pas pratique du tout. Bref semaine agréable, même si un peu les uns sur les autres, maison charmante qui montre quelques limites et hôtesse sympa +++.

Séjour calme et reposant

Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour dans une maison très bien agencée. Ma fille de 6 ans a apprécié le jardin, la piscine et la balançoire ! Très facile de rejoindre la côte grâce à la voie rapide à 5 min et très agréable de se retrouver dans une maison au calme le soir en rentrant. Lynda, la propriétaire habite à côté , très gentille et discrète et nous envoie des SMS pour suggestion de visite et Lynda nous a également offert des légumes de son jardin. Je conseille pour des vacances agréables et reposantes.

Lovely stay at Le Chardon

Splendid garden and yard with swimming pool. Lots of sun and also shadow if needed. Lynda even had a swing and sandpit for our little one. The house is a classic Bretagne style and matched well to the description. Nice kitchen and good sleeping facilities. Good location to travel around Bretagne.

Belle région et environnement calme

Jolie maison, bien entretenue, dans un endroit calme (le plaisir du calme de la campagne pour des citadins). Grand jardin privé, pas de vis à vis ni de partage de terrain. La propriétaire est très discrète et disponible si nécessaire, des conseils de visites sont transmis par sms pour ne pas déranger. La région est agréable, avec de jolies petites villes à visiter. Je recommande la région, et la maison, pour les personnes souhaitant des vacances calmes et reposantes.

De woning was erg comfortabel en van alle gemakken voorzien. De grote tuin met zwembad was erg mooi en onze kinderen van 5 en 13 hebben zich hier uitstekend vermaakt. Het is een ideale uitvalsbasis om de prachtige plaatsen in de buurt te bezoeken. De omgeving van de woning is heerlijk rustig. Lynda is bijna onzichtbaar maar wel daar als je haar nodig hebt en super vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

I suppose you could say that I needed a change, so I came to Dolo, fell in love with the property and the area, and haven't looked back since! I arrived in 2007 and count myself as being very lucky. I have the peace and tranquillity of the countryside and then, throughout the summer months, there is a wealth of local entertainment and festivities. So much so that I have to keep a diary to make sure that I don't miss the events and I haven't had to do that since the children were growing up! The festivals are very colourful and traditional and are an integral part of life in Brittany. The area is also extremely popular with ramblers and for those who enjoy cycling and fishing. In fact there is something here for everyone!

Why they chose this property

Dolo is easily accessible, the double carriageways link all the main towns.The airport at Dinard, and the ferry at St Malo are only 50 mins away. I'm surrounded by farming countryside, cereal crops, mainly barley, maize and rapeseed. A 5 minute walk, past a small lake, takes you into Dolo itself with the essential french bakery, bar and restaurant It's wonderfully quiet and peaceful - heaven on earth when you need a break.
On the other hand, if I need entertainment or a bit of culture, then the beautiful medieval city of Dinan, with its half timbered houses, cobbled streets, craft shops, art galleries, restaurants and picturesque port is 20 minutes away, Rennes - the capital of Brittany and Lamballe with the famous Haras (National Stud) are all within easy reach.

What makes this property unique

Dolo now has it's very own Wake and Aquapark, restaurant,,bar and picnic area . Jugon Les lacs is 5 minutes away with bars, restaurants and a large lake with water sports and fishing facilities.
The house is 30 mins from the coast which boasts small coves and miles of long sandy beaches, a paradise for all ages.
The garden is large, private and peaceful. Surrounded by mature trees, with flowerbeds, shrubs and lawn. There is an orchard and plenty of parking.
A good sized above ground swimming pool was added in 2014 and proved very popular with family and guests alike.
All this, plus good food and affordable wine - what more could you ask for!!
