Pelennor is a 2-bedroom apartment, ideally located 5 minutes’ walk from beautiful Porthminster Beach and St Ives town with its delightful mix of shops, galleries, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Why not wake up to lovely views from the Juliet balcony across the rooftops to the Island and St Nicholas Chapel and the ocean beyond…then breakfast in the bright open plan bay window looking towards Carbis Bay. We have re-furbished Pelennor to a very high standard, preserving the original corniced ceiling in the lounge/kitchen and added solid oak wood flooring. The two bathrooms comprise a contemporary ensuite and family bathroom with spacious corner shower and the added luxury of a free-standing bath. The bedrooms both have charming cream Victorian-style bedsteads and adjustable wall-mounted TVs. We're less than 10 minutes’ walk from bus and train stations; access by car could not be easier with space for two cars right outside. Ideal for two couples, a family of four, or a romantic break for 2. The property is not only within easy access of the beach and town but there is also the local tennis and golf clubs. St Ives Harbour Hotel offers full spa and leisure facilities. Contact stives-harbour-hotel.co.uk/spa

About Mark Shelley
Hello, my name is Paula and my husband Mark and I started visiting St Ives in November 2008 and have returned every year since. St Ives and the Cornish coast have become very special to us and we decided to try and buy a little piece of it in Autumn 2012. We were delighted to take possession of Pelennor in February 2013 and spent the next six months carefully preparing it for our first guests.
Mark Shelley purchased this Apartment in 2013
Why Mark Shelley chose St Ives
Pelennor is part of Porthminster Terrace, which has so many advantages, not least its proximity to one of the most beautiful beaches in England. We love the character of the apartment with its high ceilings and fabulous views to the front and back and the fact that you can enjoy all the convenience of being in St Ives at the same time as being able to escape from the hustle and bustle when you want to.
What makes this Apartment unique
One of the most obvious benefits is the view in both directions; towards the 'island' with the ancient St Nicholas Chapel perched on the hill top in one direction, and Carbis Bay and the distant horizon in the other. Our apartment is equipped and furnished to a very high standard, being brand-new in August 2013. Finally, to find a property in St Ives town with one parking space would have been a challenge - we have two!

Property clean, beds comfy, flat warm, no need to share bathroom. Wonderful.
We arrived on Wednesday and left Saturday and took our car out just once during that time. The Flat is so convenient. If you need a break from St Ives then just jump on the train. It cost us £2 each to go to Lelant and walk back along the Coastal Path. We ate at the Lifeboat Inn next to the Lifeboat station all 3 nights (yep boring I know) but we so loved it the first night what's the point of changing. Yes it gets dark early in November, but after a day walking we'd come home for a change of clothes and then walk down for our supper before strolling round the harbour or up to the Illuminated Chapel. There was nothing we needed in the property that wasn't there for us and enjoyed the Mastermind game - one that we'd played quite a lot in days gone by. I'm an early riser and loved to make a cuppa, open the shutters and watch the dawn break over the sea. I will miss that the most I think. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Lots of useful information here for future guests, we appreciate the feedback!
The apartment is lovely. Great size, spotless and looked good.
Would definitely stay again,
Top quality accommodation in an excellent location
This was our 3rd stay on this apartment and it has been as enjoyable as always. The apartment is beautifully decorated , spotlessly clean and full of all the amenities needed. The parking is a real plus and It is easily big enough for our family of four. The owners communicate with ease and are great at answering any queries you may have. We will not hesitate to book this property again soon.
Its good to welcome guests back time and again and we continue to aim to provide them with a home from home.
Short break with friends
Excellent accommodation. We had a wonderful time. This was our first visit to St Ives but intend to return. Having parking spaces for both our cars was a real asset and not having to negotiate the very narrow lanes further in town. Visited Tate St Ives of course and enjoyed the view of the bays from the cafe windows. Also went to the Boathouse Theatre for their 'Whodunnit' which was good fun. So many places to discover, great places to eat and wonderful views. Perfect holiday.
Thanks for the tip about the theatre - we will certainly explore that next time.
Quality accommodation in a good location.
The joining instructions were spot on and the on site parking was appreciated. The apartment is like a tardis with more than enough space for a family. The sea views from both the front and rear of the property are amazing and relaxing to enjoy. Both bathrooms are very well equipped and modern. We found the location perfect, far enough away from the town to be away from the crowd but near enough to enjoy a variety of different walks to get there. In summary, everyone should visit St Ives at some time but not all at once and Pelannor is a perfect base for exploring. Thank you for an amazing holiday stay.
We would like to thank our guests for taking the time to write their review, it is much appreciated and hopefully very helpful to our future guests. It captures many of the aspects of Pelennor and St Ives that attracted us and persuaded us to buy!
Beautiful apartment. Perfect for parking
The apartment was stunning. Had lots of extras like beach gear, board games and a good selection of books and dvds (which we didn't get chance to use but perfect if it rains) A short walk into town and to the beaches. Very clean and homely and much bigger than it looks in the photos) The owner was prompt with returning messages and so was the housekeeper after we found after getting home we had left something there 😖 There is a co-op a short walk away to fill up on supplies and loads of places near to eat out.
All in all, exceeded expectations.
There is a big hill to climb to get from town to Pellenor. Only mentioned this for anyone who isn't physically fit as they may struggle. St ives is very hilly, but the hill up to the apartment is steep as shown in the photo.
Had a lovely time and will be back to visit st ives. It's such a beautiful place.
Thanks to these guests for such a detailed review. St Ives is indeed hilly - keeps you fit and its all part of the charm! But we do agree that it would not really be suitable for those with serious mobility concerns.
Porthminster Beach (5 minutes' walk) has excellent facilities and views of St Ives Bay and Godrevy Lighthouse; it is a fine sandy beach with normally calm, clear waters.

The whole of the surrounding area is ideal for keen walkers, the South West Coast Path being within 5 minutes with spectacular views in both directions. St Michael's Mount is within a half-days' walk.
We are very close to all that St Ives and the West Cornwall area have to offer. There are numerous restaurants and pubs within a 10 minute walk of the apartment and a post office, all major banks and convenience stores all 5 minutes away. The nearest out of town supermarket is a 5 minute drive.
