About this property

We are ON the ocean, just 5 minutes from Las Galeras, Samana

We can include a personal tour guide and concierge who can show you the area beaches of Fronton, Madama, Rincon, La Playita, Cayo Levantado, the El Limon waterfalls and other area attractions. He can also make sure you find the supermarkets, banks and restaurants. Since he has worked at the Cove for nearly 20 years, he knows the area well. All my apartments are at the Cove, a small group of beach front, ocean view apartments, just 200 feet from the ocean.
This modern apartment serves as your home base from which you can explore the peninsula. Arrange deep sea diving and sport fishing excursions with The Dive Academy. You can snorkel at some of the most beautiful beaches, including Playa Rincon, Playa Las Galeras, El Valle, and Playa Fronton. Seasoned scuba divers can explore shipwrecks from throughout the centuries.

Come see the humpback whales breach out of the water, from January to March, each year, when they come to mate and have their offspring!!!

In between you and the ocean is the pool, with a swim up bar. Grill local fish on the charcoal barbeque, or stay inside and cook in the full kitchen. It features a view of Samana bay, and a private beach, only a few steps away.

Since I own two other apartments, I can accommodate groups of up to 12 people.

Beautiful location/ great pool

Our stay at The Cove was a good one. We felt safe and the accommodations we're what we needed. The pool was amazing and the kids loves it. Coco the on-site go to guy was great to talk to and he helped us out with anything we needed. Actually he went above and beyond. Would stay here again when visiting this area.

Beautiful Dominican Republic beach area!

The primary attraction of this property of course is being on the beach. We so enjoyed the warm Caribbean water. The pool was also quite nice as well. The apartment was clean, well equipped, and convenient. The air conditioning units worked very nicely and kept the apartment at exactly the temperature we preferred. Check in was seamless and Patrick took the time to show us were in Las Galeras we could dine, acquire groceries, etc. All things considered, a very enjoyable stay!

Las Galeras DR Feb 2025, The Cove

Pictures represent the property accurately, host and maintenance are very responsive. Great property, once you get the lay of the land easy to get around. Locals are friendly, the area struggles with economic development. Important to take a couple excursions, whale watching, fishing if the ocean cooperates, ATV’s. Local fisherman come in everyday and will sell fresh catch of the day, ask for fresh lobster if it’s in season. Weather was great, high humidity. Power outages will happen but not often, host was responsive to water issues. Nieghbours are friendly and offer many pointers. Would go again.

An Sanamá Oasis

The Cove/La Ensenada is a small gated oasis of spacious, well-appointed, air-conditioned apartments nestled in a small cove on the north side of Samana Bay. Each has its own balcony or porch where we enjoyed morning coffee and evening wine and cocktails. The beds are comfortable; the kitchen had everything we needed to cook. The second full bathroom and washer/dryer are a real plus. The beautiful grounds, including a lovely in-ground pool and a private sandy beach, are well maintained. On our visit, we saw whales from the beach and there were a multitude of butterflies fluttering about. A small convenience store is a walkable distance away and busy Las Galeras with lots of restaurants, ATMs, and shops is about a 15 min drive north. The Cove is perfectly located for day trips. It is 30 min from Samaná, 45 min from gorgeous Playa Rincon, and an hour from the El Limon waterfall. Except for the occasional large pothole, we found the roads to be in good shape. Most locals ride motorbikes, some with headlights, some without, so take caution especially at night when driving.Our friendly host Patrick was on site with his family. He was very responsive to messages and gave us some great tips on where to eat and shop locally. He helped make our trip to the Dominican Republic one of the most enjoyable and memorable

Peace and Quiet

Communication with Pat was essential for me. He responded in a timely and clear manner. I was very happy to see Coco again and was a little surprised that he remembered myself, my wife and kids. The Apartment and kitchen is well furnished with all necessities. There is even a BBQ grill on the porch. Coco keeps the place and pool immaculately clean. The pictures that you see online of the pool and small beach are exactly as it is in person. The neighborhood is a small community, but had everything that I needed, such as; rice, oil, meats, vegetables, cleaning supplies, restaurants, beaches, gasoline, boating, four wheeling, zip lining and other activities. Cell phone and internet service is below average. Great place to live life naturally without the interference of too much technology. I am pretty sure I will be renting from Pat again in the future.

Beautiful and so peaceful

The Cove was spectacular. We arrived to find a very clean condo with bottle water already there which was great after a long trip in. The staff who works around the property where very friendly and so helpful. On our first morning we woke to have a cold showers due to an issue with the water on demand but Coco fixed us up in no time, he is so helpful with anything. Carmon who is on the property was great as well and went to get us beverages while we settled in our first day. We had lobster delivered to our door on several occasions you just have to ask about it. We meet several owners who where in and other renters everyone was great and very friendly. The facilities from inside to outside was so nice and relaxing. Around the Condo you can find anything you really want from small grocery stores, gas, and little stores to get your beverages. Patrick was great emailing us to make sure we arrived with no issues and supplying information on things to do around Samana before we arrived. If you need anything from a massage on the beach, to an adventure out all you have to do is mention it to Coco and all can be arranged. Very worry free vacation thanks to Patrick and all the staff of the Cove...

Amazing setting but condo poorly maintained

We loved staying at The Cove. The setting is amazing! Unfortunately, the condo was not as well maintained as the complex. It seemed as if it hadn't been used for quite a while. The floors had not been recently swept and mopped and we felt grit under our feet as we entered even though we left our shoes by the door. The towels smelled of mold. The barbeque grill was pocked with rust and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for a long time. We had to ask for a ladder to be removed from a bedroom. I can't imagine why it would have been left there. The closets were not well organized. The place just needed some love. Maybe it would help if the owner spent a few nights there.

Paradise

The apt that I rented from Patrick was absolutely fantastic! It was absolute paradise, absolutely beautiful. The pictures I took look like post cards. It was super comfortable very well kept. Everything was amazing! We felt safe with it being a gated residential and security being there 24/7. Coco was great, very welcoming and very attentive. Made my family and I feel right at home. Patrick was great giving suggestions as to some points of interest. We visited Playa Rincon amazing they also have a man grove and we also did El salto de Limon. Both close to the apt. There is also a close store where you can get minor things such as soda beer chips etc.

As I financial planner residing in Pennsylvania, I get tired of the long dreary winters. When touring the Dominican Republic, I fell in love with the Samana peninsula. We try to visit a few times per year, and we enjoy sharing the beauty of the island with other vacationers when we are not there.

Why they chose this property

I loved the area so much, I bought three apartments. They are 316323, 816267 and 816268.

What makes this property unique

Here you have the privacy and tranquility of a small beach, but if you drive a few miles, you can enjoy some of the larger beaches like Rincon or El Valle. All of the beaches here at the tip of the Samana peninsula are mostly undeveloped. You can enjoy a true Dominican meal at one of the rustic outdoor restaurants or bring your own cooler with some food and cold Dominican rum and Coke!
