If you are looking for privacy and quiet, this is a gem of a rental. Away from the hubbub of downtown Hilo, this property is a guest house to the main residence in Paradise Park, a large residential development roughly 12 miles or so south of downtown Hilo. The hosts, Laura and Aki are the most wonderful and helpful people. You have a huge covered patio with two lounging areas and a table with 4 chairs if you want to eat outside. The grounds are private and very restful at the end of the day, with countless birds chirping, and frogs singing. You really feel like you are a part of nature. The kitchen is supplied for light cooking with olive oil, vinegars and various sauces & dried herbs available to share. There is a microwave, an outdoor BBQ, a 2 burner hotplate, and a multi-function countertop oven/air fryer. Google maps will get you right to the address. The one thing to be aware of is rush hour traffic. Coming in to Hilo in the morning or leaving Hilo in the afternoon, 12 miles can take 40 minutes (or more). We just planned our activities around those times and found it so satisfying to come back to the property in the afternoon, that it wasn’t really a problem. But you do need to plan accordingly, especially if you have early morning activities in Hilo. This was our first visit to Hilo. I would not hesitate to book this property again. Perfect for a couple. It is also a very easy drive up to Volcanoes National Park to see Kilauea in action!
