Charming cozy get away!
This was such a fun house! Perfect size for out family get together. Everything was clean and we loved the binder with information on Stockton since it was our first time there. The house was cool all day and night and with the fully stocked kitchen, it made all the meals easy. The showers felt INCREDIBLE! And the owners were so fast to respond and very helpful and kind. This place has just want you need and makes you feel at home. Will absolutely be coming back! :)
Not super small child friendly. Rough rock fireplace and spiral staircase. Clean with tons of space.
The home was everything I expected. It was great to be able to stay close to the lake and still have the comforts of a home. The loft was super warm but other than that everything was great. Our stay at the lake was great just wish our boat would have cooperated. I have been going to Stockton since I was a little girl. This chance to stay in a home made the lake that much more enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
We were very satisfied!
This was our third time staying in this Stockton Lake house. The owners have made several updates in the last year that look amazing. The house is fully supplied with anything you can think of (dishes, towels, swimming supplies, grill, movies, and much more).
The house is in a quiet neighborhood close to a private boat ramp. It's also close to the town Stockton where there are many restaurants and a nice swim beach.
The owners were very friendly and available whenever we needed them. They have a binder made that has lots of information about the town and clean up when you leave.
My families only complaint is that our schedule is too busy to visit more often!
Clean, roomy , well stocked , and quirky!
We've been coming to Stockton for 6 years now.. Our place we have stayed at is no longer available so we thought we'd give the A frame a shot. We arrived late Thursday and it was hard to find.. No lights on. Once we got in and turned on lights and turned on air ( it was extremely warm especially upstairs) and looked the place around.. We found everything we could possibly need. The place was well stocked and clean and very quirky. Actually thru the weekend we all grew to love it especially the multicolored shag carpet up the stairs and the furry material wrapping the pole on the spiral staircase:)
Besides the few wasps we batted down and the very used and outdated linens.. The place turned out to be a nice fit for our annual Stockton Lake visit with our family of 10 including four children under 12.
Thank you for supplying all the items we needed i.e. , trash bags, bug spray, ziploc bags, plenty of paper towels , sugar, creamer... All the extras that saved us from having to go buy them.
We would recommend highly if the place was updated a bit, better lighting on deck stairs.. Maybe a motion light...
And definitely some new pillows and sheets for the beds! But please leave the shag carpeted stairs and furry pole:)
Glad you enjoyed your stay!! We have updated the floors on the main level (wood laminate and tile, but left the carpet up the stairs and pole!) and much of the bedding and pillows. We are working on the lighting problem as well.
Scary, Outdated and Gross
While the owner was very friendly, it appears, through our interaction and my short notice booking of the property, it was definitely not as seemingly clean as in the pictures. At 11 pm, I tried to find the house with my Aunt. There are a few houses that resemble the rental property very closely and as I was struggling to find the house, one of the neighbors came out and was watching our every move. The street was dark and the area kind of sketchy, so it was a little uncomfortable. Eventually he yelled that we were on someone's private property, so I asked about the address of the rental. He told me it was a little further down the dark street.
With no lights on, I got out with my flashlight and attempted to find the lock box. I didn't have instructions as to where it would be, so I was poking around for a bit (looking suspicious I'm sure). I headed up the stairs to the deck in order to try the doors up there. After traversing animal poop and one or two slightly broken steps, I tried the first door which appeared to be punched through. No lockbox. Tried the second door, which had a big deadbolt on it and still no lockbox. Finally, I found the lockbox on the third door and opened the door to be greeted with extremely hot, moldy smelling air. It was 93 degrees in the house because the AC had been left off. The second thing that greeted me were wasps that were flying around inside. There were some moths too, but the wasps really got to me. I turned on some lights and took note of the extremely gross, outdated carpet with holes burnt into it. Looked in the refrigerator to find some old spills and someone else's condiments from who knows when. The floorboard was warped and it was so hot and moldy smelling in there, we definitely did not feel comfortable sleeping there. After surveying the rest of the main floor, we decided that wasps, moldy air and 93 degrees was a little too much for us, so we turned around and headed back to The Cabins at Stockton Lake, where I woke my family from their sleep at 12:30 a.m. to let me in.
I did not stay at the property for the remainder of the weekend. I'm sure that for some men on a fishing trip, it would be fine. However, I think that in order to market this property to a wider spectrum of renters, there needs to be some serious updating and cleaning done. Wasps are not fun to sleep with. I won't be asking for my money back because I would say it is not inhabitable, but I definitely would not recommend.
I am so sorry you did not enjoy your stay, or actually end up staying there at all. We have updated the carpet that had some worn (not burn) spots. The house does get warm, and that is something we are working to update, as well as outdoor lighting. Thanks!
