WOW!!! This was a little hidden gem!!!
I was very impressed with the cabin. It was so much more than I had expected. The cabin was cozy and comfortable. The views!!! I enjoyed watching the sunset every night from the deck. The cabin is about 15 feet off of the water. Kayaking on the pond was amazing. The campfire area and grilling area were very well maintained. I loved the privacy fence that was installed recently. The location was perfect for access to Baxter State park! I heard the loons on the pond a few times, which was magical! Simply amazing and beautiful!!! Will definitely come back, hopefully once a year!
Excellent accommodations, clean, well stocked, quiet and located at the water's edge. All you need
For fishing, if you're looking for quiet cove like areas with plenty of rock formations holding good size small mouth bass, your search is over. A stay at the well stocked Martin cottage on Plunkett Pond is well worth the trip. Boat traffic is light and the fish bite all day...caught a number of bass in the 3 to 4 lb. range.(Zoom Super Fluke, Arkansas Shiner). I was looking for a quiet pond offering plenty of action...I was NOT disappointed! Highly recommend a stay with the Martins on Plunkett Pond!
Delightful stay in this cozy camp!
Loved every minute of our weeklong stay here. Plunkett Pond is incredibly beautiful and peaceful, with loon calls and great sunsets. The cottage was thoughtfully stocked with everything we might need, even kayaks, bikes, wood for campfires and s'mores makings! We came back rejuvenated and hope to return.
Wonderful cottage on beautiful lake
My family enjoyed a great week at the cottage. The home and grounds are as pictured and described - rich wood throughout, comfortable furniture, clean and cozy. Outside we enjoyed roasting marshmallows in the fire pit area, lounging in the hammock, grilling on the deck and fishing from the large dock. Cottage is fully stocked inside and out - pots, pans, linens, towels, games, flashlights, kayaks, firewood, matches, etc. - seemed that just about whatever we could think of or had brought was already there. Kayaking around the lake was great, with very minimal lake traffic. Very successful fishing can be done right from the dock - we caught (sizable) smallmouth bass, pickerel and perch. The Bear's Den was the local pub/restaurant in town, and a great place for a meal - really nice atmosphere and good reasonable food and drink. The area is remote and peaceful, and there are many, many woods roads to explore, which were quite fun. There are many logging sites in the area, and we passed some fully loaded logging trucks on the roads. We hiked one day in nearby Baxter State Park, about an hour ride from the cottage. Owner was accommodating and readily available if needed, and provided valuable insights on the area. Great stay at a great cottage!
13 miles to Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. This is the south entrance (Swift Brook Road) to the monument area and the best entrance to access Wissataquoik Stream and the Deasey Mountain hike.
