About Kim & Scott Essig

We are from Eugene, Oregon, and have been coming to Maui for over 30 years to escape the gloomy Oregon winters. We actually stayed next door to Hale Ono Loa most of these years in our timeshare and finally decided it was time to quit playing the “timeshare game” and get a permanent place of our own.

Why Kim & Scott Essig chose Lahaina

We fell in love with Maui on our first trip. We have seen it grow throughout the years while still maintaining its laid back “shaka” lifestyle. Hale Ono Loa is between Kapalua and Kaanapali – with lots of shopping, restaurants and golf. Lahaina town, which is a very quaint, old whaling village, is only 4 miles away. You have the neighborhood feel with lots of activities close by.

What makes this condo unique

We love this neighborhood, and once we decided to buy we knew we wanted to stay close –we could not have gotten any closer than the condominium next door. We have literally looked at Hale Ono Loa for 29 years. The grounds have always been immaculately groomed and it has seemed like a very serene property.

Honokowai is a great little neighborhood with the Farmers market, Bad Ass Coffee (Mako makes the best Mochas), and Ono Tacos (amazing fish tacos). You are close enough to walk to Times Market as well as catch the boardwalk into Kaanapali, which is a scenic walk or run (whichever you prefer!).

A perfect stay!

From first booking I can honestly say this was the easiest, most pleasurable booking experience. Kim was so quick to respond, check in before the trip, when we arrived and after. The list of suggestions she sent was perfect in our planning. The condo is beautifully decorated, very clean and the view is amazing! We loved watching the sunrise and the turtles from the lanai! The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need and condo is located near farmers market and great amenities. We loved our stay and the very comfy bed! The ocean breeze blows through from both sides of the condo and you can listen to waves. Couldn’t imagine a better experience in booking, will be sending friends and family! Thanks Kim and Scott! Fantastic Stay!

We had a fantastic stay at Kim and Scott’s. In addition to Kim being super responsive throughout the whole rental process, the condo was beautifully decorated and had fantastic views of the ocean where we watched the whales and sunsets from the balcony. There is a great cross breeze in the unit and although I was a little concerned at the time of booking about no AC—it was NOT even close to EVER being needed. The light breeze in the day and evening keep the temps just right and we had full sunshine every day with temps in the low 80’s outside. The unit is perfectly situated between Lāhainā and Kapalua (short drive) which was great for us. We golfed several times throughout the week and being close to Lāhainā made it fun for a couple of the evening dinners—yet still close to home. The unit was fully stocked with toiletries, kitchen supplies and beach gear. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this unit to our family and friends. Wonderful warm well appointed property on the west side of Maui.

The review: 306 is a wonderful modern yet warm and comfortable newly renovated condo that has everything you need and nothing you don’t. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai while watching whales breech off shore and sea turtles feeding on the sea walls. We highly recommend this home for comfort, accommodations and location.

My husband and I spent our first 5 days on Maui at Kim and Scott's place. Before we even made it to Maui, Kim was quick with communication and made sure we had everything we needed. The place itself is exactly how it is pictured. It's clean and the ocean view is unbeatable. We saw sea turtles swimming everyday on the reef from the Lanai (even in stormy weather!). The tips and tricks on where to eat and activities was also a huge help. We ate at tones of places we would not have otherwise thought about. We can't wait to go back and enjoy Maui again. Perfect Location

The condo was exactly as advertised. Great location, close to every amenity needed. Our stay was short as it was at the end of our vacation but it was a great place to relax after weeks of exploring. The unit is well equipped and Kim was very attentive to ensure we had everything we needed from the time of booking up to our arrival. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.
