About this property

"Silver Gull" The Ultimate Getaway

"Silver Gull" is metres from and overlooks beautiful Hog Bay beach in Penneshaw and only a three minute walk from the ferry and town centre and Supermarket, cafes, Post Office, pub etc. No need for a car, close to Sealink tours, car hire, walking trails, golf course, dolphin watching.
Ideal for one or two couples, or a family of four . Great for honeymooners or a couple wanting to simply getaway.
Minimum three nights.
Use of the whole house.

The house is suitable for up to four guests. Bedroom one has a very comfortable queen bed whilst bedroom two has two king single beds .The house has everything you need from hairdryer to dishwasher. There are two toilets and as well as the main bathroom we also have a very private outdoor shower with hot and cold water for those who prefer to shower under the stars.
We have an uninterrupted 180 degree view of the sea and coastline and to the mainland, and you can relax and watch the ferry coming in.
At the back we have a secluded and very private back garden with a round table and chairs.
A cot, and change table are also available, however you will need to bring all bedding for this.

The entire house is available for your use. A gas barbecue is there for your convenience.
A carport is provided for your use.
Free WIFI is available at the ferry terminal only a few minutes walk away.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

KI beach retreat

Silver Gull is a clean and well-presented beach shack in prime position with fantastic views over the beautiful, quiet beach. It is just a 5-minute walk to the pub, cafes and grocery store and comprehensively furnished and fitted out with everything you need for your get-away on KI. I would recommend a stay at Silver Gull to anyone looking for a comfortable and no-fuss holiday on the island.

This property is wonderful. Perfectly sited to look over the bay and for beach walks. Very comfortable beds and lounge. Gorgeous little back garden. Fully equipped kitchen with everything one could possibly need.

We once again enjoyed our stay for Christmas at the ‘Silver Gull’. The house is always very well presented and with an enclosed yard is ideal for our young family. Very convenient to the beach and facilities. I could highly recommend this property.

While working in Kangaroo Island we stayed at the "Silver Gull" for several nights and to say we were impressed is an understatement. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, location was brilliant and could not ask for more. I will be heading back to Kangaroo Island in the near future and will be booking my family in here for our stay also. 10 out of 10 from me.

Lovely beach front property with big picture windows to while away your time watching the ferries going to and fro to Cape Jervis. Good base to check out KI. A very short walk to fresh coffee and the supermarket. Well maintained house. Comfortable beds. Fluffy big towels. Fully equipped with bbq, large oven and gas cooktop etc. Cute private back yard with outdoor hot/cold shower. Now if only the weather had played along…

Kicking back on KI

Beautiful, comfortable family holiday home that had everything we needed. The location is superb - close to the ferry, across the road from the beach, close to the beautiful Sculpture trail and the supermarket, cafes and the pub. Our requests were accommodated promptly by Les. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this home.

Excellent location

My husband and I stayed here 10 days for our 40th anniversary. The house has everything you need for a relaxing stay and the location is fantastic. Close to shops, the pub etc are in walking distance and the beach in front was bliss!

We stayed here for 3 nights and would have loved to have stayed longer. Penneshaw is a great place to stay, the house was very clean and what a stunning view. The outdoor shower was a perfect touch and a got a lot of use! Will stay here again

Little piece of paradise

We loved our stay, it was more than we ever expected. Beds were comfy the house was spacious for my husband and I and our 10yr old and 17yr old boys. This was one of our favourite holidays and we have travelled to many places overseas and Australia. There were things to do when there were cooler days and perfect for warmer days as the beach was amazing. We went fishing off the jetty and took loads of salmon, squid and garfish home. On the warmer days the boys spent most their time on the beach in the water and we as parents were so relaxed. The amenities were wonderful, Supermarket, local pub and cafes all in walking distance. The lounge was so comfortable and I loved watching the ferry coming and going. The location is the best on the island. Thank u so so much Les and Sonya, it was just a perfect stay! Can’t wait to come again.

Constructive criticism

Lovely views.Property was tidy but not clean. The 1st thing in entering was the smell of black mould from the kitchen wooden dish drainer,the black mould was obviously there for some time. We had to clean it with bleach. Mould in the bottom of the shower. Cupboard doors and drawers in kitchen and bathroom sticky. Table top sticky. Back of chairs sticky. Place mats sticky. King bed head unclean. For our own comfort we cleaned some items. Photos can be supplied on request. A shower caddy should be supplied,nowhere to put soap shampoo etc except on the floor. Around light switches grubby finger marks. Too many personal things in the property, eg food,photographs, clothes, old bedding in wardrobe etc. We pointed out some of these items to the owner prior to leaving the property. We found the property dated and overpriced. We expected not to have to clean anything. A partial refund is warranted

Madam, It is disappointing and somewhat surprising to learn of your complaints. Such a pity that you failed to notify me at once or at least the following day. This would have given me the opportunity to investigate and validate your concerns. Staying at the accommodation for the entirety then demanding a refund two weeks after the alleged concerns is unfortunately not tenable.

The road is a cul de sac hence no busy traffic, yet overlooking the beach.
