We've stayed at four or five different places in the Villages at Camelback, which we like because of the ski in/out opportunities. I would say that this one had just about as good access to the slopes as we could have asked for. We were able to park about maybe 30 feet away from the entrance, which was just great.
The unit itself, though, was just okay. The biggest problem, which we didn't realize when we booked, was that it is one of the "lower" units in the complex, meaning that it is about a 2-3 story walk up and down stairs to get from the unit to the parking lot. The unit itself is very vertical, of course, since they all are, but we didn't love the added outdoor stairs in the icy weather, especially carrying all our stuff up and down. That was a real negative, and we feel it should have at least been referenced in the description (if it was and we missed it, apologies).
We also weren't thrilled with the unit itself. It's fine, very bare bones. The bedroom upstairs is open to the downstairs family room -- we've been in some units where that bedroom is closed off and there's even a bathroom up there. So this one wasn't great. And the lowest floor bedrooms have relatively low ceilings, which we don't remember from other unit stays.
Otherwise, we found it a little under-equipped compared to other places we've stayed at, in terms of cooking equipment and things like that. Again, it was fine, just a little bare bones.
We chose it over our regular places because we thought we'd take the dogs with us, and this is a rare pet-friendly unit. We ended up going without them, but we recognize that we might have to be a little more forgiving of some of the furnishings given the the owner is open to bringing pets (and isn't going to splurge on new couches and stuff). We get it.
We gave it four stars because of the access to the slopes, and the fact that the owner/manager we talked to was very nice and helpful and we don't want to be too harsh. If access to the slopes is important, and bringing the pets is important, this is probably a perfect place for you. If you're more concerned with convenience (i.e., not taking a lower-level unit) and furnishings, you might want to consider other options.
