About the property

A dreamy couples luxury getaway on Puget Sound with fantastic water & mtn view

A dreamy couples luxury getaway on Puget Sound with fantastic Mount Rainier views and beach access. Arrive by boat or car, our deep water buoy can accommodate up to a 50' boat. EV - Level two car charging is also available.

The new, tastefully decorated, large 650 sq/ft studio with Queen bed is surrounded with windows, has a vaulted ceiling and full kitchen. Fully furnished and comfortable for stays of a few days or for several months. The super quiet heat pump will keep you warm in the winter and cool all summer. The newly added kitchen has a stovetop, oven, full-size fridge, and dishwasher and is stocked with essentials and tools, ready for long term use or a weekend.

We know we can't leave home without our dog and know you can't either. We welcome well behaved dogs and cats. Dog bed and bowls are provided along with miles of beach to run on (and a hose to rinse them off). If you can't bring your dog, ours is always happy to play ball on the sand.

Time stops in the peaceful and quiet studio, lending itself to quiet days of reading and relaxation, but for when you want a little more adventure they're a lot to do:

-Two sea kayaks, paddles and life jackets are available for your use. They can be launched into the water right from our seawall and are a great way to explore the shoreline. Boston Harbor is a mile and a half (as a kayaker paddles) across the sound and is a lovely place to grab lunch or a beer.

-Bring your bicycles for some wonderful road riding on quiet country roads.

-Easy access to downtown Olympia, the Olympic Peninsula and the entire South Puget Sound.

-Visit our favorite shellfish farm (Taylor Shellfish) to pick up a dozen local oysters or try your first geoduck.

-A short drive or bike ride to the capitol building and Evergreen State College.

-The 100,000 acre Capitol Forest is a popular recreation destination. Just a 20min drive away, there are trails for hiking, mountain biking, horses, and ATVs. A great place to take your 4-legged furry friend for a hike.

-10min to mall, movie theater, and grocery stores.

Maximum of two guests, ages 18 and over. No children.

Excellent monthly rates October through May 30 day and 4 night minimum June through September. Please contact us for fewer nights if they are between other bookings if they are available.

About Ben

We're two 20+ year residents of the Pacific Northwest, with a love for the water, outdoors, fresh food, and dogs that are abundant here. We're recently retired and have spent our time sailing, cooking, and getting to know our new neighborhood. We have a very-social, outdoor cat (Boodles) and an older but playful labradoodle (Cocoa) who will both be happy to welcome you and join you on walks.

Ben purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Ben chose Olympia

We hunted for years for this perfect house. It is one of the few low-bank (direct beach access) properties in the south sound, and has the perfect mix of quiet rural atmosphere and access to the town. Its breathtaking views are hard to beat and its inviting hominess is hard to miss. We hope to share a little piece of that with you through the private studio apartment above our detached garage.

Fantastic Rental Cottage with Million Dollar View of Budd Inlet and Rainers!

  • 5 of 5

I love this cottage! It has sweeping cathedral ceilings and gorgeous two story windows front and back, with a wide porch across the back looking straight out to the Budd Inlet and Mount Rainier! On a beautiful little street that parallels the water, there are other homes nearby but plenty of quiet and privacy. The cottage is one big room casually divided with nice furniture, including an incredibly comfortable queen bed, armoire and dresser, dining table and leather couch, chair and ottoman - spacious yet very pretty and cozy. Air conditioning (I stayed here in summer previously), heating and internet are great. The kitchen area is well equipped and has new appliances including a dishwasher. A short easy drive to The Evergreen State College, Westside and downtown Olympia, Tugboat Annie's and a perfect launch for fun excursions to the Olympic Peninsula. The owners live down the hill on the water and are so nice to deal with. Perfect for singles and couples - a great getaway cottage!

Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in Olympia. It was a very comfortable and private space. We spent a lot of time sitting on the balcony and enjoying the view as well as kayaking to nearby restaurants. The hosts, Ben and Beth were very helpful and laid back. We had a great stay, and we'd love to come back.

Wish we could take this HomeAway home!!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely beautiful and so comfortable! The pics you see are not enhanced- it really is this nice. The colors are wonderful! Best of all— a great view of the bay and Mt Rainier as long as it’s clear. Ben, the owner, lives in the house on the property and couldn’t have been more gracious and accommodating. Everything you need is there. We loved it and know you will too.

Lovely Spot for a Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have not been away - just the two of us - for a number of years. We love Washington but have usually stayed up in the San Juans or Seattle when visiting as a family. We decided to try the Athens Beach Waterfront and were not disappointed!

Beth and Ben have created a lovely place to get away. Everything you need in a wonderful spot that is quiet and beautiful. And as others have noted - the bed is wonderful! The view from the deck is magical - not only of the bay - but also of their garden - it is a haven for hummingbirds, butterflies and bunnies. We also saw a few deer down on the neighbor's beach. Mt. Rainier also made a few appearances!

I also took advantage of the offer of kayaks and took an early morning paddle in the bay - which was great! Walking in the area is easy and nice.

Location is great as many amenities are nearby and it is a quick trip into Olympia should you want to go to the market or spend some time at some great brewery tap rooms. We took a trip to Ocean Shores too.

We've already talked about coming back out so we can explore more of the many parks in the area and just hang out on the deck. Definitely would recommend!!

Cottage is exactly as pictured. Very clean and cozy. Kitchen has everything necessary for preparing meals.walk to the beach was easy and at low tides you can walk for miles in either direction. Owners live in the home below cottage and are very friendly. Great location on Budd Inlet. Lovely cottage with great view of the mountain & water.
