A unique property on the Sea of Cortez.

About Skip and Susan Ackerman
We first were drawn to this area for the world famous Windsurfing but after 24 years we appreciate all the facets of this beautiful place well beyond the wind and water. After many years focused on wind sports and fishing, we now kayak, stand up paddle, play tennis, pickle ball, bike and hike in the mountains enjoying the waterfalls and arroyos. We are originally from Colorado and still make Colorado our home for a few summer months each year. Our daughter attended the local Mexican school for three months each year from 1st through 8th grade which gave us an opportunity to get to know the local Mexican community.
Skip and Susan Ackerman purchased this House in 1993
Why Skip and Susan Ackerman chose Los Barriles
Being on the beach is important to us. We choose the Sea of Cortez for its beauty, sea life and accessibility for all the water activities. The sunrise and moonrise are stellar. This is a safe community and welcoming to foreigners.
What makes this House unique
Being on the water and makes this property enjoyable all year round. We love the indoor/ outdoor living. We also now have the new Tres Palapas Pickleball Resort with 10 courts, day passes, and Restaurant and Bar within a mile of the Casa.

The owners were polite and accommodating. The property was lovely. I recommend this property.
Relaxing, comfortable & picturesque!
Skip and Susan were great hosts. When we stayed at their house they were just a few doors away, but never intruded. They provided every amenity we needed to be comfortable and secure, from great beds in both the master suite and second bedroom, to detailed instructions on the workings of the property.
The location and views are breathtaking. We watched the kiteboarders take off from right in front of the house. Our kids swam in the ocean out front. We went fishing with a local guide, who launched from a location just down the beach, so we were able to walk the beach to and from the boat.
The house is actually two buildings. The master bedroom suite, large bathroom with enormous shower and walk-in closet (perfect for suitcases & hanging clothing) are all in a separate building attached to the garage where the owners lock up their personal things. The other building was the original improvement and has a complete & very well organized kitchen (excellent gas range w/ oven, large refrigerator & coffee maker) and a huge center island for food prep or socializing. Just off the kitchen is the second bedroom where our daughter and son-in-law slept in a queen bed that they said was super comfortable and large enough for a tall (6'+) guy. There is another full bathroom next to the kitchen with walk-in shower and laundry facilities, making it so convenient. A spacious living/dining area is under a large roof, protected from the weather, but open to the breezes and views. We loved keeping the bird feeder filled and were constantly entertained by beautiful birds who came there to feed.
The Los Barilles coast is our favorite Baja location and we keep returning; this was our 5th time! It is a friendly town with good access to groceries, supplies, authentic restaurants and sight seeing. If you get a chance, travel up the coast a couple of miles to for excellent swimming, snorkeling and fishing!
Thank you for the great review! We have made a great effort to offer a pleasant place for our guests; so it is very rewarding for us to hear how much you enjoyed it. And we appreciate that you pointed out that we are nearby to handle any issues, but are not intrusive. We value our guests' privacy. We also appreciated how you took such good care of everything. You left it pretty much how we left it for you! We hope you will come back and stay with us again.
Great place on the beach. Everything you need and the open kitchen/dining area was a delight
Skip was acessible and helpful. Just the right distance from town to get away but easy to head in for dinner.
Glad you enjoyed your stay. And five stars to you two for taking such good care of our place, and leaving it so clean for us! We hope you return sometime.
Best regards, Skip
Luxury, views, charm!
This is the most beautiful property we’ve ever stayed at. With private beach front and full 180 degree views of the Sea of Cortez, it’s hard to put into words just how magnificent this place is. The outdoor living concept was new to us, and it does come with some restrictions and special considerations, but nothing we couldn’t deal with even after a few margaritas :). The weather was a bit chilly to fully enjoy the outdoor space to its fullest, but we made do with the provided blankets just fine. I highly recommend Casa De Ackerman!
Thank you two for taking such good care of our beach house! We have been so fortunate to have guests like yourselves over the past couple of years. Your week was a bit windy and cool. A good week for those Kiteboarders! We hope you will come back sometime and get to experience "perfect" Baja weather.

quiet, beautiful home on the sea - away from it all - perfect for a relaxing family holiday
Our family of three (son age 4) thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing, month long holiday at Skip and Susan's beautiful home on the sea. This stunning property is large and completely secure, the home is well laid out and has everything you could ever need for a comfortable stay. Skip was most helpful with information about the area, and was quick to answer any questions about about the house. This is a home that is well loved and it shows. The beach was perfect for swimming with our little guy, treasure hunting (rocks and shells) or kayaking usually in the mornings before the winter winds picked up in the afternoon, a delight for those who enjoy kitesurfing. The surrounding towns of Todos Santos, La Ventana and San Jose del Cabo are all about an hour away and worth a visit. Los Barriles is about 3 miles away, a charming town with lots of great restaurants and amenities. We wouldn't hesitate to book this place again!!! Thanks Skip and Susan!

Thanks for the glowing review. We take pride in managing our little piece of paradise ourselves; so a review like this is very rewarding. You were great guests. Come on back anytime.
Best regards, Skip and Susan
Beautiful location, gorgeous home
The small town of Los Barrilles is charming with enough good restaurants to satisfy during a several week stay. This home is about 5 miles out of town, on the somewhat rocky beach (but easily walked). The home itself has everything you need - a fabulous master bedroom and bath, an open living area and kitchen, and a small second bedroom and bath - plus washer & dryer, kayaks, and comfortable seating. The views are gorgeous, the owners helpful and gracious. For pickle ball players, the courts about a mile away are in excellent condition with a great restaurant on site. We enjoyed several day trips during our 3 week stay. Definitely recommend to those wanting a quiet, peaceful, comfortable vacation.
We really appreciated how well you treated our home. We are actually only about 3 miles out of town.
This great beach house is only about 1 mile from the new Tres Palapas Pickleball Resort - trespalapasbaja.com Where they offer lessons and day passes. Very well managed with 10 excellent courts. Bar and Restaurant onsite.
