So convenient

This is a great area to stay. Easy access to NYC by bus, PATH, ferry. Good local shops for food, drink etc and plenty of restaurants nearby. Spacious, warm apartment.

Fabulous apartment in lovely location

Fabulous spacious apartment with great ammenities and in a lovely location with easy access to central.Manhattan. The property is beautifully maintained and really comfortable and homely as well. We loved the Hoboken area with plenty of areas to eat and close to the sea/river front overlooking Manhattan island. Lovely to walk down during both day and evening and very safe walking around. Diane was a great host we would thoroughly recommend her apartments for a stay and will definitely return if we come back to New York. Thanks Diane.

New York trip

Fabulous appt in Hoboken. Close to all amenities and easy access via bus to Manhattan. Great base for exploring the surrounding area. I much preferred stopping here than in Manhattan itself. The appt was well equipped and beautifully decorated and laid out. Plenty of room for 5 adults. Checking in and out was easy and communication with the owner was prompt and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Fabulous apartment and amazing views

We had a fantastic 4-night stay here in Hoboken. The apartment was perfect; so comfortable and had everything we needed. So lovely to see the Manhatten skyline from the bedroom! Hoboken itself is fabulous, we enjoyed some sunrises across Manhattan from the waterfront, just 5 mins walk, and the town is lovely to wander round. Some nice restaurants and cafes too. Thank you Diane - your apartment was just perfect!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, property was a home from home with everything we needed and more. Location and local restaurants/shops all fabulous. Would definitely return as loved this town. It was an ideal base to explore New York City and return to relax each day too.

Dreamy stay with a view

We were really lucky finding this gem, while planning our trip to NYC. It’s just a short ride from Manhattan (we found taking a bus to Port Authority was the easiest and the fastest way, just about 15 min, although we enjoyed a ferry ride and took path train couple of times) and at the same time it’s a quiet and safe neighborhood. We found apartment very comfortable and spacious for us (a family of 5). It has everything one may need and even more. The kitchen is very well equipped (we cooked breakfasts every morning and dinner couple of times, and there was enough dishes, cutlery and amenities). The cardboards were stocked with condiments, spices, oil, sugar, coffee etc. There were also all the necessities in the bathroom, including shampoo and soap. Enough towels for everyone. The beds were very comfortable, one of the party had to sleep on the futon in the living room and had no complaints. Everything was clean and well maintained and also beautifully decorated. The living room has a very lively ambiance - books, games, little things - one feels really at home there, it was sad that we had very little time to fully enjoy it. We also liked the neighborhood - green and lively. Big park and beautiful walking path along Hudson, little shops and cafes on Washington street. Groceries and drug store options in walking distance. All in all we were happy that we chose Hoboken and Diane and Jay‘s house as a gateway to our NYC adventure.

Five day New York break

Had a lovely New York City break staying in Hoboken. Property was perfect, clean, bright, spacious, well-equipped and was in a lovely neighbourhood with great variety of pretty quick links into New York. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Wonderful stay, characterful property, lovely neighbourhood

Located in an attractive and quiet neighbourhood, the property was perfect for the 3 of us. Very comfortable, spacious and light. It has everything you need and the kitchen is especially well equipped for home catering which suited us after long days out and eating out is expensive. Great local grocery store and deli. You get a different perspective of Manhattan from this property and its location with breathtaking views across the Hudson and the property was a welcome respite from the intensity of Manhattan. You do need to factor in time and cost to get to where you want to be on Manhattan but the subway and ferry are close by and we loved the contrast. Diane is a helpful and very responsive host. Overall, great stay!

Great apartment in a lovely neighbourhood

Diane's apartment in Hoboken was fantastic, it was really easy to get to Manhattan, either on the ferry or the Path train. The area the apartment was in was lovely with lot's of nice coffee shops and restaurants. It was 5 mins walk to the riverside where you had fabulous views of the Manhattan skyline. The apartment was really comfortable, well equipped and clean. Good comms from Diane, and some useful information in the apt about the surrounding area, transport, shopping etc. I've already recommended it to a friend who is looking for somewhere to stay!

Week exploring NYC

The property was great. Plenty of room for our family of 4. It is a very nice neighbourhood. We are from the UK and were happy to walk around in the evening. Perfect views of NYC from Sinatra Drive which is minutes walk away. Great shops in walking distance. The bus into NYC is very close, frequent and safe. As a family we found it a lot more relaxed out of NYC for the week, popping in when we wanted to. Diane/Jay were very helpful.

Excellent in every way!

We stayed here over New Year. The location was perfect for us away from the bustle of Manhattan but easy to get there. The apartment is lovely just as in the pictures. Has everything you would need including a stocked coffee machine! Massive fridge dishwasher, washer, dryer, large screen TV, and loads of books and board games. Lovely view of Manhattan skyline from bedroom (There's even some binoculars for a closer look!). Hoboken is lovely loads of bars, restaurants and takeaways within a few minutes walk. Good supermarket and liquor store just round the corner. Travel to Manhattan is easy, we used the PATH train which is 20 minute walk away and a 14 minute journey. Bulk (10 or more) tickets work put at $2.10 each way. Can take you as far as 33rd Street which is fine. There's also a bus which will take you there but we didn't use that. We landed at Newark and the yellow taxi from airport (with tip) was $60. For return I used UBER which with tip was $35! Get the UBER app for any taxis you might need works a charm. The owners live below, and where very quick in answering our (email) questions and providing whatever information we needed. We didn't want to be knocking on their door so never actually met them! All in all I would thoroughly recommend this apartment if you're looking for somewhere just away from it all. We would definately use again if we were ever to return. Hope there's some useful information in there for someone. Neil

Simply Amazing

we recently spent a family holiday at this property and it could not have been a more ideal letting. The apartment is stunning, maintained to a very high standard and the location is simply fantastic. The only complaint we had is that we did not spend more time there, we will stay at this property again. The owners were extremely helpful and are the ideal hosts. We had two young children and this is an ideal property for a family with a lovely park steps away from the apartment, and NYC only minutes away via train.

Brilliant place to stay

We stayed for a week in May with the intention of using the apartment as a base from which to visit New York. We loved travelling in the ferry into the city and did all the usual tourist stuff. But we really enjoyed coming back to Hoboken too as there was so much to do. The apartment had everything we needed and was just as advertised. Would highly recommend it.

Het was echt perfect. Het was 's avonds aangenaam terugkomen in prachtige huis in een nog fijnere buurt. De bedden sliepen zalig, het balkon was een echte plus en de eigenaren respecteerden onze privacy... Heel fijn ook om dan de drukte in Manhattan terug te kunnen keren naar een veel rustigere maar toch levendige buurt. Veel fijne restaurantjes in de buurt. Met de bus ben je echt in een kwartiertje in Midtown, De Path is een prima alternatief voor Downtown Manhattan en Brooklyn.

Girlfriends get away!

This house has so much charm! I've stayed at many VRBO's and this was place has been my favorite. So many special touches. The coffee table books, basketball, extra linens and toilet paper. The kitchen is well stocked with coffee, teas and even a filtered water pitcher in the fridge and ice cube trays! Beds were very comfy even the futon. Having coffee on the balcony every morning overlooking an adorable neighborhood was amazing. There were 4 of us staying here and it felt like home. Water pressure in the shower is great, soap, shampoo and conditioner provided. It is a narrow staircase leading up to the apartment, I only mention it in case you are an over packer like me. My bag was 50 pounds, and it was an adventure to haul it up there. I lift heavy so it was manageable but my girlfriends who don't work out had issues, so I hauled up all the luggage. Just an FYI if you have mobility issues getting a heavy bag up those stairs might be difficult. I would not change a thing about this place the location, atmosphere, comforts and proximity to path station and food are epic! Diane the host was spectacular she helped us figure out the keurig machine and even provided us a safe space to store our luggage before and after checking in and check out. Would absolutly stay here again, I highly recommend.

Five-Star Family Getaway to New York

This is a beautiful second-floor apartment in a picturesque neighborhood. Our family of two adults and three teens were very comfortable for four nights. Daughter said the futon was very comfortable, and the folding screen created a private sleeping area. The view from the back bedroom was wonderful.The apartment included everything we needed. We brought our own laundry supplies, but found some provided. Many businesses in Hoboken are within easy walking distance. We enjoyed Morelia's Paletas and Paris Baguettes. There is a park with playground at the end of the block.It was so easy to get to and from NYC for sightseeing. The closest bus stop is two blocks, with the 126 bus direct to the Port Authority Bus Terminal at 42nd Street. Tip: Make sure you have the NJ Transit Authority app to buy tickets. One user can get tickets for everyone. One day we rode the PATH train to the World Trade Center, which was also very convenient. There are ferry options, but we didn't choose that.Diane gave great parking advice. Street parking is very limited. Despite having daily permits, we ended up at the Independence Garage on 12th Street (four blocks away) for two days (35 for 24 hours). If you plan to use transit to/from NYC, then I recommend simply parking at the garage rather than searching for street parking. Communication with Diane was great, with helpful recommendations. Check in/out was easy. We loved our stay. I wholeheartedly recommend this apartment.

Superb apartment. Host Diane was super thoughtful and helping. There was a boil water advisory when we arrived, and she had already left a lot of bottled water before we arrived. The listing picture do not do justice to the premises. It’s much nicer in real life. Kitchen is well appointed,, including a quality range. Good utensils and dishes. The beds are comfortable. Really a great stay. Would return any time.

Love this place!!!

It was a great stay, we will definitely will be back to Hoboken. It was perfect to see the city every morning and then take the ferry over to NYC. We didn’t have a car so we either walked (which everything is within .5 miles) or took a bus/taxi/uber. Very fun and great experience, only one bathroom which was a little hard with friends but overall great. Besides the dog barking on the last night, it was very quiet and would book again. I would say really not for small kids though, the house is very old but really well maintained. Kids might have a harder time with the stairs and space.

Immaculate, very comfortable and great location

This was our second stay at this very charming apartment. It checks all the boxes for a vacation rental that we will always return to. For starters , it is in a nice walkable neighborhood with beautiful trees, historic homes and an awesome view of the new york city skyline from the bedroom window.. it was impeccably clean upon arrival and well stocked . You can walk to several restaurants and grocery stores and delis! A longer stay next time is a must!

Simply Amazing!

We had a group of 4 women over 50. We have never stayed in Hoboken, wow what a beautiful city, with many amazing restaurants !! The house was on a beautiful street and so spacious!! The photos don’t do it justice! The owner and the communication was excellent!! Also, We enjoyed a quick ride over to NYC a couple times. I would definitely recommend!!

About the host

Jay and I have been married since right after college, and are among the 'founding families' of Hoboken, staying here while our three kids grew up in a unique and urban walking town. We love to travel, and are big VRBO vacation renters, renting houses as far away as Washington state, Maine, New Hampshire and California. Jay works in Manhattan, and I work in Hoboken at a publishing company, which moved to Hoboken from NYC in 2002. Our two older sons are in college, and our daughter is in High School.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this house in 1999, when our family was really young. Over the years we've renovated almost every square inch of the place, while trying to keep the original, historic charm. The house was built in 1901, along with 4 other 'mirror-image' houses on Castlepoint. We love the street, the neighborhood and the fact that it's a little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Hoboken. We've recently decided to convert one apartment so we could expand a little over the holidays, and enjoy the city view.

What makes this property unique

This home has a history, and living in it has been a very happy experience. We're a half a block from the park, and in the summer, our kids were in and out, off the basketball courts, on the playground, biking, roller blading. We've watched the Hoboken waterfront transform from broken down industrial into an absolute gem, where people walk, bike and fish, and simply sit outside with a book. Hoboken is a neighborhood extension of Manhattan.
