It could not have been better!
This ground floor townhouse was very well maintained. Clean, airy and beautiful. The owners thought of everything: Completely stocked kitchen, lots of comforters, blankets, pillows, waffle robes, toiletries, hair drier, etc. The townhouse has high speed internet which was way faster than we have at home, Nest Thermostat that kept us cozy, and digital entry lock that was so quick we going to get one when we get home. The entire complex is very security conscious. Our townhouse had a spacious two car garage. The pools (4 of them) were excellent and the 2 gyms were first rate with free classes. The local BBQ's were close by (we used them regularly) and always kept clean. We will definitely be back.
Very poor value for the money-jerky property management-slow to fix black mold problem
One of the worst vacation experiences I've had. Contract included $100 credit for electricity, but that about covers the monthly fees and taxes before you use any electricity. The unit is poorly insulated and has large gaps around the front door that makes it difficult to cool in warm months. We used the nest thermostat exactly as instructed and had several hundreds of dollars in electricity charges. That was with us turning off the a/c for most of the day while away from the unit and never turning the heat on. Rent was also to include internet, which was terrible. It routinely goes down every morning for a few hours and then is intermittent through the evening. Oh and the provided apple tv relies on the wifi connection, so no tv for long periods every day. Property management is over zealous to tow your guest's vehicles parked in unmarked areas that permanent residents are allowed to occupy freely. Board members and property management are open about their hostility toward short term and vacation renters. Bathroom had black mold and mushrooms growing from baseboards. It took nearly 6 weeks to get that fixed after a lot of blame and finger pointing by the owner. Ceiling fan didn't work and garbage disposal broke both of which took weeks to repair. Contractors work all hours in neighboring units hammering and sawing. Owner dickered with me over the deposit upon checkout for a toaster oven I left in the unit that the owner thought was hers and replaced it at my expense because it was dirty. Save yourself the aggrevation and headaches, steer clear of Mina and Arthur's rental units at Greyhawk. If you do choose to throw your money away on one of their units, be sure to get an inventory of everything in the unit, especially the kitchen. These cheapskates stuck us for a missing shelf in their fridge they said we should have noted was missing at move in.
This tenant is misrepresenting himself. He definitely was not a vacation renter at all and did not use VRBO/Homeaway. He lived and worked in the area and came through a realtor as a who later refused to do business with him. The unit is not poorly insulated, this tenant would set the air conditioner in the low 60s during the summer (monthly written Nest reports were ignored) and even then he only slightly exceeded the generous electricity credit. As everyone in north Phoenix and Scottsdale knows, we must all rely on Cox cable for internet service. The 150 Mbs service will sometimes slow down at times but is almost always usable (the tenant never once made any complaint about service which Cox could have addressed if it were truly a problem). The tenant went to war with the property management company about parking in locations which were clearly not marked parking spots and he was eventually towed after several warnings. He threatened to sue everyone including the HOA Board Members and the management company asked that he be evicted which is why he left. The bathroom did have mildew which the tenant claimed was black mold. It wasn't and after sending a remediation team, it turned out that mildew grew when the tenant left water the trash can for months. The ceiling fan worked fine, the tenant did not realize how to operate the remote control. The garbage disposal was promptly reset several times after the tenant tried to dispose of bones and other hard items in the disposal. It did take weeks for the tenant to stop doing so. The real reason for this tenant's review was that he was charged for the damage to the brand new Samsung stainless steel french door refrigerator which he claimed was missing a shelf when it came from the factory (it was there during installation and was later found broken in the unit) and the stainless steel toaster oven was replaced with a cheap white plastic toaster that looked like it had experienced a fire. He threatened in writing to submit a bad review if his deposit was not fully refunded. We do our best to create the best environment for our guests. We do appreciate that no matter our hospitality, some cannot be pleased. Our current tenants have stayed with us in the past and have chosen to stay the entire calendar year which speaks volumes about the property, amenities and manner is which their needs were met. Please do not judge this unit by this review or any reviewer with a motive that clearly taints a honest review.
The Best Vacation Spot in Scottsdale
The owner asked me to leave a review to set the record straight. I understand about tenants abusing the review process to get what the want on Yelp so I will give my unbiased review. My time was fabulous. I have been staying in Scottsdale every year for the past 15 years, the last 5 years in this townhouse. I usually try to make the spring but last year I stayed in the summer as well. We having stayed at all the best digs, this is the one for me. Everyone was so nice and our hosts bent over backwards during our stay. I left for Tuscon for a week. I took some items with me from the fridge and I can't believe that I left the refrigerator door wide open for the entire time. If came back to a warm refrigerator and melted ice cream, worst of all the refrigerator did not come back on. Our host, Mina, called a technician who confirmed that I killed the pump. She ordered a new refrigerator then and there and it was installed within a few hours. No hassle and no charge. Mina said she could envision herself doing something like that so how could she blame me? The installer said the stainless steel refrigerator was Samsung's top of the line and cost thousands. I never felt so guilty and so happy that Mina would not hear of my offers to help pay for it. The townhouse was clean, well stocked and beautiful as always. Every year I notice upgrades to the unit. This year they went from Cox cable which everyone hates to DirecTV Now on Apple TV. I loved the hundreds of stations available including HBO. I saw other reviewers complained about local stations and sports. We received all the local channels and all the sports channels. The two master bedrooms had brand new comforters and bedding. The Great Room got a complete remodel and a new private chef. Life is good in Grayhawk. Coming again.
Thank for your kind words. Looking forward to seeing you again.
This property needs a face lift and an attitude adjustment!
Don’t let the pictures fool you. This property requires serious upgrades. From the 10-year-old cutlery and bad plumbing, to the 2-year-old shower liner which was stiff and dirty from age (yuck), luxury is NOT how I would describe these accommodations. The budget conscious cleaning staff filled old liquid soap bottles with a different brand so that the pink soap floated on top of the orange soap! Gross. (I believe Soft-Soap only costs a buck?).
The rude and condescending L A based owners seemingly only care about who gets their security deposit in first. Mina is especially rude; her emails terse and cold, she writes as if you’re beneath her or in kindergarten, doing you a huge favor by replying at all.
But their most egregious offense is not having the decency to inform us know that they were seeking out a tenant for November, even though they gave us first option of refusal! Instead, they casually emailed us stating that they rented the unit and we would have to find other accommodations. Really? Pretty despicable.
Lastly, and certainly not least, if you enjoy TV/Sports RENTERS BEWARE! They boast about providing Apple TV, but Apple TV DOESN’T GET THE MAJOR TV STATIONS: NBC, CBS, ABC. That translates to NO FOOTBALL!
That’s right folks! NO football! Because with Apple, you don’t get any of the channels on which the games are aired. If that’s not a deal breaker, I don’t know what is.
Trust that I can go on and on about how disappointing our stay was. The issues touched on in this review are just the gray tip of this debris covered iceberg. If you value cleanliness, modern accommodations or a respectful host, look elsewhere, as you’ll certainly be disappointed.
I'm so sorry this tenant was not fully satisfied but this review is completely unjustified. The tenant was completely happy with the townhouse while she was there (questions, but no complaints or issues at all). In fact, this tenant wanted to stay a fourth month but the townhouse had already rented it out (if someone was not satisfied, why would the want to stay an additional month?). Unfortunately, the motivation for a review like this after a portion of the tenant's deposit was was used to cover expenditures during her stay is understandable but still disappointing. I do need to set the record straight: 1. The Cutlery was purchased new this year; 2. The was never a plumbing issue (during, before or after); 3. The shower lining was replaced after abuse by this tenant; 4. Soap is in the unit and the dispensers are refilled for each new tenant; 5. DirecTV Now through Apple TV carries all Major Stations (i.e. ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, HBO, etc.) and sports including football on ABC, CBS, NBC, ESPN and Fox sports channels (Google DirecTV Now Pheonix coverage).
Everyone is entitled to an opinion and that is why reviews are important, but verifiable facts should be truthful or the veracity of the reviewer comes into question. Do we have to consider the possibility of a bad review if a tenant has incurred damages and/or expenditures they are responsible for? What does an owner do? We choose to conduct a professional business which we can be proud of and not cower to those who might not play by the rules.
We try to make our home yours. We want every tenant to be happy because we hope to have them back or have them refer others to us. Please do not judge us or the townhome but this review.
Amazing-No Upgrades or Attitude Adjustment Needed
I was asked by the owner for a review since I was in this unit just before the person who left an angry review. I do not know what she experienced but I loved my time in Scottsdale and enjoyed my stay at this townhouse. I never had a problem with the pot or pans, plumbing, knives or the TVs. The soap dispenser was clean and full. Football season had not started but we certainly had all the Network stations and HBO, Showtime and Starz. My husband says he had all the sports channels.
I wanted to say that the owners were attentive to all our needs, always willing to help even if it did not concern the property. They were never rude or condescending and I would have a hard time believing that they ever could be.
The complex and the unit are very luxurious. I had my own cabana with towel service, we previewed a movie in the private theater with hot buttered popcorn. I received a massage from the on premises therapist. I used the on-premises concierge to make reservations. I am coming back in 2018. I had intended to leave a review earlier but I totally forgot to do so when I returned home.
See you next year.
Location, Location, Location!!!!
We love the complex and would love to stay there again. I thought we were in an awesome location!! Everything was very accessible within a few short minutes. The community was quiet but very hip. I needed peace and rest from the hustle and bustle of the rat race. The pool was a hit with my kids! I am still riding on mommy points that I scored! The townhouse was spacious and has all the modern conveniences to make you feel at home. There was definitely no shortage of pots, pans, dinnerware, and the appliances are in great condition. Everything in the house worked! I know that is important to some, like me a recovering perfectionist. The TVs are equipped with Apple TVs and the kids were on the favorite apps in seconds. I put it to good use, while I chillaxed on the couch flipping channels; selfishly watching what I wanted. The kids ad their own room with a television. Another exciting moment for me was sitting on the couch in the master bedroom, with the blinds drawn reading a book. I was even more elated to sit by the blue pool at night with lights on, drinking a cup of hot tea when the temperature dipped into the 70s, I love Arizona. The townhouse is conveniently located near supermarkets, restaurants, shopping outlets, the beach, etc. I visited Whole Foods so much; they gave me a free Black Truffle Roasted Chicken. Whoop, Whoop! Oh, and there is a wonderful gas grill t the Great Room! The Great Room afforded us some nights of fun and even some family time. I also loved the 3 bathrooms. The master bathroom is extremely large! I simply enjoyed having massaging shower head...the little things in life. There is even a walking path in the complex. A beautiful neighborhood to take a stroll. If relaxation is what you need, this is the place! Drive your vehicle in the garage, unload, and you never have to leave the townhouse. This is a beautiful place for all recovering perfectionists, and the rat race folks. I can not wait to plan my next getaway to the Venu! Thank you Grayhawk! I shall return...
