Overview

About the property

Beautiful villa with direct sea access!

Ranger's Perch is a spectacular, large villa in the upscale neighborhood of Sabadeco. If you're looking for a bonafide island sanctuary, look no further. Enter our gate, and from the lush, landscaped gardens to the beautiful pool area, you are sure to become lost in your gorgeous tropical surroundings. From the second story of the villa one can enjoy SPECTACULAR views of the Caribbean Sea and of Klein Bonaire. A screened-in deck runs the length of the home from which views of the garden, pool, and (of course) the sea are not in short supply. A large open-air terrace sits beside the screened-in area as well. From this terrace, a better view of sunsets over the sea and the brilliant starry skies to follow cannot be found. In the mornings, feel free to sip your coffee in one of these areas as you enjoy your view of the sea, complemented by the sounds and sights of visiting parrots and other birds.

For divers and snorkelers, this villa reserves a very special and rare surprise. Through a gate in the garden one may enter a green space that's use is exclusive to this villa and a few immediate neighbors. A 1-2 minute stroll down the concrete sidewalk through the center of the green space takes you DIRECTLY to the sea! There, you will find a steel ladder into the water for diving, snorkeling, and swimming entry/exit. Just up the shore from YOUR PERSONAL dive site are the popular dive sites "Oil Slick Leap" and "1,000 Steps." Just down the shore are the dive sites "Andrea I" and "Andrea II." When your dive is complete, simply skip back up to the house, rinse your gear in either the pool shower room or the large dive room sink, and throw it on the drying rack in the dive room! You're now ready for round two!

The second story master bedroom of Ranger's Perch boasts both a private balcony and a large, private terrace (both with broad views of the Caribbean Sea). Please enjoy the master bath's spectacular marble finishes! The additional bedrooms each have a private entrance that opens toward the pool area on the lower level. With ensuite bathrooms, mimicking the beautiful marble of the master bath, these rooms are fully equipped and private.

This villa is a lucky recipient of some of Bonaire's pleasant, cooling breezes! When breezes are not enough, however, the villa has air conditioning throughout.

A fully-equipped kitchen allows guests the convenience of enjoying meals at home. There is no better meal-time ambience than that found while seated at the deck dining area as the sun sets over the sea. A large, stainless BBQ grill is also at your disposal.

Wifi and cable television will keep you entertained and connected during breaks between dives and donkeys!

About Maureen Zehner

My husband and I currently reside in Colorado, USA. After several trips to beautiful Bonaire with our two sons, we decided to look for a place to call home there!

Maureen Zehner purchased this villa in 2016

Why Maureen Zehner chose Sabadeco

We wanted a property with direct access to the sea. This beautiful property, just one lot from beachfront, was exactly what we were looking for! It truly is a spacious island paradise.

What makes this villa unique

After our first stroll through the garden gate and down the path to the sea, we fell in love. The access that this home has to the water means so much to our family; all passionate divers and snorkelers!

To say this is a gorgeous villa might just be the biggest understatement one can make. there is not one thing missing from the welcoming home. From the living room to the screened in porch to the outside terrace not only do you have extreme comfort but you have the Bonaire breeze at it's best! The morning flight of the local parrots and the sunset over the water or starry night are truly spectacular while having coffee or an evening drink on the terrace .This is the home to stay in should you come to Bonaire.

Perfect home for our group's dive vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We are a mixed group...7 divers, 2 non-divers, family and friends, ages 26 to 62. Seven of us stayed at Ranger's Perch and the other two in an apt just 5 minutes walking distance from the house. I don't know if I can adequately describe what a perfect home this was for us, but I will do my best. Everyone had their own room and bathroom...perfect! One or two at a time would wander into the kitchen and the first ones there would start the coffee and decide what was on the menu for breakfast. Some would eat at the table in the screened in porch, one would have coffee and prepare his photographic equipment at the downstairs patio table, some would eat at the table in the huge kitchen, some on the open-air upper deck. Get my drift? There was no shortage of space for everyone to do their own thing or be together. Dive plans were made, equipment and trucks loaded and off we would go. Our non-divers stayed by the pool or would go with us to snorkel. Back to the house after swinging by the grocery store if needed for the evening meal and ice (we enjoyed our beverages). Some would head back out for an afternoon dive and some chose to relax in the pool, read a book or take a nap. We took turns preparing dinner each night and those not involved in that task were on the open-air deck discussing the day's dives and enjoying the breezes and views. The house had everything we needed and the air conditioning and ceiling fans in every bedroom made them wonderfully cool. That and the comfortable beds with soft linens made for a fantastic night of rest. During the day the windows and doors were thrown open to keep the house pleasant with all the breezes. We all agreed this was the perfect house and given the opportunity would love to come back. It simply couldn't have been better. One last note, Maureen could not have been a more perfect host. I had many questions and she responded very quickly to all of them and to top it off, I have never received a refund for the damage deposit so quickly! If you are a group or a large family, this is the place for you!

Beautiful home

  • 4 of 5

This home is very large. It has new seaside decide upstairs and a big gorgeous master bathroom. The downstairs bedrooms are nice with nice size bathrooms. The bed rooms all have airco in them and in the living room. The kitchen does not have an Airco. It's in a quite neighbor hood . You can't beat the views from the back of the house!!

Very Pleasant Experience

  • 4 of 5

We -- family of three with a 12yo -- stayed for a week on a first visit to Bonaire. The house location is perfect - easy to access town (restaurants, shopping, etc) but yet very , very quiet and private. Having a pool was a blessing as there are few 'beaches' for lounging on the island. It was also nice to have super easy access to the ocean via the private footpath right at the house. We all enjoyed an ocean swim or two without getting into a car. The general condition of the house is in good - it was neat and clean, and had most of what we needed in the kitchen (with a few odd ommissions, like no strainer for pasta, but WE SURVIVED! ;) ). It is a massive house with lots of room and lots of nice outdoor spots to relax. We found the bedroom situation to be awkward for us, as the other bedrooms (beyond the master) are accessed by walking down a flight of stairs and exiting the house, with a 12yo but that was solved by using a cot in the master. (Our son did not feel comfortable sleeping alone in spare bedrooms.) Somehow I missed that in reading the listing. But, again we survived.! LOL. WIFI was pretty solid for an ISLAND situation, which was great. The family room set up is a titch wonky for TV viewing - but certainly not a dealbreaker. We just adjusted furniture to be able to watch a movie as a family and just moved it back when we left. The host, Maureen, could not have been more accommodating - from answering questions immediately, to having us met at the airport, to having a bottle of wine and few beers in the fridge upon arrival. Our deposit was returned to us before I could blink. The hosts 'on the ground' folks are lovely and helpful. The island itself is SPECTACULAR. So much to do if you are active - swim, snorkel, dive, hike, cave, fish...... The restaurants are well fleshed out and there is an awesome Danish grocery store that rivals any Kroger, Publix, etc. We generally bring an extra suitcase with staples to Carribbean destinations and found ourselves returning home with it. Everything that we needed is available at this grocery store.

Awesome relaxing home

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Bonaire and we were very fortunate to find Ranger's Perch on VRBO. Maureen was very responsive and put up with my overall questions with the house and the island. And was very helpful.

So now we see why another review makes sense. The home is beautiful and very quiet. It is 5 stars for sure but we want to have availability when we get back to Bonaire 😊?. It was just my husband and I on this trip but it would be a great place for our family of 8 (3 sons and our daughter in laws). We spent most of our time on the great screened in porch and the pool when not snorkeling and site seeing. You can stay close and have many sites to snorkel and dive. Also to run, hike etc..Getting away from technology was very much needed and enjoyed.

Thanks again for our great accommodations and the personal touch. We look forward to our next trip.

Spacious and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We found Ranger's Perch the perfect place to stay in Bonaire! I must admit I didn't really want to make it sound great so it would be available for us whenever we wanted! The owner Maureen was quick to respond right from the start, even quickly making a change in the listing so we could book our last minute trip. I felt like I was conversing with a friend.

The house was very spacious and comfortable. The master bed and bath were huge. After running around and diving during the day we enjoyed relaxing by the pool and taking a dip. The screened in porch was the perfect place to sit in the evening and review our dives and videos/pictures. The kitchen is huge with plenty of space for more than one person to cook and prepare meals. Maureen has thought of everything including a picnic tote, water bottles, and a cooler to take on an outing.

We dove three times at the house, including a night dive, and found it easy access except in high waves, which we had a lot of the week we were there.

This was our 9th trip to Bonaire and we have stayed at several different places, but this was our favorite. The house was a little out of the way, but the peace and quiet made it worthwhile. You will definitely need a car or truck.

A great place for a big family, group of friends, or even just a couple, as we were!

We are already making plans to return next year and hope to stay at Ranger's Perch

We encourage guests to purchase some type of travel insurance to cover them in the event that they may need to cancel. We've made a habit of purchasing travel insurance every time we travel! We also have a DAN membership that provides dive insurance; something that many insurance policies don't cover! Please ask us if you'd like more details!

We've included the mandatory per person, per night Bonaire Tourism Fee in the additional $20 per person, per night charge that you see outlined in our rates!

Electricity is VERY expensive on the island. Because of this, we plan for 20 kW of electricity usage in the villa per person, per day. This should more than cover reasonable use of air conditioning units. This allowance is based on both our personal use and guest averages. We will hold a $400 deposit in the event that electrical use exceeds the 20 kW per person, per day. This deposit is listed by VRBO as "damage protection," but it is intended for potential extra electrical costs, in addition to the coverage of any damage-related costs that may arise.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
