About the property

This secluded 1400 square foot Brule River cabin retreat has two bedrooms. Each bedroom has a full and a twin bed. The loft also has 4 full beds. There is one bathroom with a shower on the main level. The cabin has central heat, central air and a working wood stove with plenty of wood to burn. The cabin is located just one mile south of the Brule River Barn wedding and event center and 3 miles north of Hwy 2. The Brule River is only 150 feet from the cabin. There is a wooden staircase going down to the water. This is a great place for people attending Brule weddings, fishing, canoeing or just looking for a clean, quiet place to stay and relax.

About Jason Vee

I'm a produce broker that specializes in onions professionally. I'm married with two kids and two dogs. I enjoy everything about preparing vacation rentals. I enjoy purchasing and preparing the places to be rentals. I enjoy the correspondence and feedback. It's also fun that they are never completely finished. The properties are constantly changing and improving.

Jason Vee purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Jason Vee chose Brule

The Brule Cabin was purchased as a sort of hunting shack for my family. In 2017, I decided that it would be better suited as a vacation rental.

What makes this cabin unique

The Brule Cabin is one of very few vacation rentals located on the Brule River.

One word "Perfect"!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely the best cabin we have ever stayed in! The location was perfect, close to town, close to the guys favorite fishing spots, easy drive to Duluth, Port Wing, Herbster, etc.. Even though it was close to town, you felt such privacy. The gazebo right by the river was well worth the walk down the steps (thanks for the steps), so peaceful, could have sat there all day and just watched the river. We have rented many cabins in the past that sleep 6-8 people but only had seating for 3-4 people, so nice for everyone to be able to sit down and stretch out after a long day. Not having to pack towels and blankets was also a big bonus. Seen lots of dear roaming the property and bunny rabbits. Enjoyed fires at night by the fire pit, just kicking back with a cold beer and good conversation. I hope Jason Vee continues to share this beautiful property so we can return year after year. Beautiful home, nicely furnished, loved the cabin decor and all the impressive hunting trophies. Cannot thank you enough for the memorable time you gave us this weekend.

Thank you, Jason & Rhonda, Jake & Susen and Aaron & Carin

Great place

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time at the Brule River Cabin. Jason was really communicative and answered any questions we had. Kitchen was well-stocked, plenty of beds, blankets, towels, etc. This place has a great deck, plenty of lounging space and is very comfortable. Property is beautiful, quiet and secluded. Great access to the river bank and the screened-in gazebo by the water was a nice bonus. Would recommend and would stay again

Fantastic location, great amenities, comfy beds, responsive owners, excellent bargain!

This was our first stay at the Box Car Cabin. The cabin was clean and ready when promised. The owner was responsive and very fun to speak with while giving us some of the history around Box Car Hole. The cabin is close enough to the Kro Bar to be handy but not too close to allow too much overindulgence. 😁?

The grounds of the cabin were very well maintained with lots of trails. The steps to the river were a tad steep but sure beat having to maneuver down a grassy hill. The screened in gazebo by the river was my favorite; so very peaceful. We even had some luck fishing right behind the cabin (I am sure if we had come when the browns were running our luck would have been even better).

The bathroom was fully stocked with plenty of towels and had ample room for everybody to keep their bathroom bags in the room itself.

The kitchen had a few spices and condiments. As more people stay the supply will, no doubt, increase (we left a few things). Lots of cookware, dishes and silverware.

Living area was great if you don't mind huge deer mounts staring you down. Satellite TV and a DVD player. Wifi would have been helpful for those of us having to check in at work but, alas, the Kro Bar wasn't far.

The bedrooms were spacious enough and the beds were even comfortable. Plenty of extra blankets and a fan were provided. We all slept well.

Noise traveled a little too well in the cabin though so if you're looking for some "alone time" with your spouse it's best to send the kids outdoors or down to the river for a bit. 😜?

I cannot say enough good things about our stay at Box Car Cabin. We hope to stay again during our next trip to Brule.

The cabin was perfect, very clean, beautiful and comfortable. Everything we needed was there.

The property was amazing, it was private, gorgeous and the river was right there to enjoy! Although we were there to attend a wedding, which was in the perfect location from the Brule River Barn being less then a mile away, we did sneak in a little fishing also! We sent pictures to family in Texas and they are booking a week there also since we loved it so much! I can't say enough how wonderful our stay was!

Beautiful Cabin, Well Equipped

  • 5 of 5

What a great way to spend the weekend. Great place and location. Pretty welcoming too. It was roomy enough to fit 8 of us just fine. The fishing on the Brule was very exciting as well. We even caught quite a few browns right behind the home! Thank you for the great stay and we will definitely be back.
