This waterfront vacation rental is located on pastoral Vashon Island in Puget Sound. Kingfisher Cabin is only a short ferry ride away from Seattle, Tacoma or Southworth. The west-facing views of Quartermaster Harbor will delight as you lounge on the large deck, walk the beach or sit and read by the wood-burning stove.

The cedar plank cabin has a light-drenched living room with cathedral ceiling and skylight, an open kitchen and two queen bedrooms. The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, dishes, glassware, etc. Well suited to make your own elaborate dinners or simply reheat leftovers.

The Kingfisher Cabin is perfect for a romantic getaway or family retreat.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Kingfisher Cabin on Vashon. The huge deck and water views simply can’t be beat. The cabin was clean, cozy, and very comfortable for our visit. The location is also great—It’s far enough off the beaten path that you feel tucked away in a private corner of the island while quaint shops and restaurants are within a short drive. We hope to return!

Always an awesome stay at the Kingfisher cabin!

This was our 3rd time staying here, we obviously go back for a reason. This property is fantastic for a very relaxing stay. The deck is amazing to sit with a book & beverage and enjoy the beautiful scenery!

Quiet time away

My son and I enjoyed the peaceful vibe here. The home reminded me so much of friends' beach cabins I occasionally visited in the late 70s/early 80s. Familiar and fun. Comfortable beds, stellar views!

Great getaway spot

We’ve lived in Washington for a while and somehow this was our first trip to Vashon. It feels like you are so far away from it all even though you aren’t. This was an excellent rental with a great relaxing space to hang out. We very much enjoyed the location. Great spot for morning coffee and kitchen was equipped with plenty of things to make a nice dinner. We would absolutely stay again!

Peaceful and Restful

We had a wonderful stay in spite of my husband getting sick for a few days during the week. In fact, it ended up being the perfect place to rest and heal and enjoy visiting with old friends. The view from the deck and the living room/kitchen is all beautiful. And the caretakers were wonderful and very kind when we needed a little assistance. I would definitely stay there again.

Relax in style

Loved Kingfisher Cabin and Vashon Island. The cabin was just as presented with cozy furniture, spacious deck, and amazing views. Having owners parent’s next door was a nice addition. They were not intrusive, but helpful & very enjoyable to visit with. They had ideas and tips of island. We will return, if possible.

Water’s edge cozy cabin

Great place to relax away from it all. Private and comfortable with amazing views of Quartermaster Harbor. We didn’t need one single thing while there. And we were happy it rained so we didn’t feel pressured to do one single thing. It would have been so cool to see the orcas from the cabin’s deck! They were spotted in the harbor after we were there!

Girls waterfront vacation on a beautiful, peaceful island!

My BFF and I stayed 4 nights at this lovely cabin on the water on the Maury Island part of Vashon. Cabin was spacious, clean, very comfortable and well-equipped. Amazing 180 degree water views from the huge front windows and large deck. Caretakers are right next door and quickly helped us with a few needs. Loved our time on Vashon - farm stands, unique shops, great coffee and food. Beautiful beaches, lighthouse and the amazing troll!! Highly recommend this cabin and location. Thanks to our host for making it available and so easy to rent!!

Incredible view, just-right amenities

My husband and I stayed here for a get-away weekend (the first one since we had kids seven years ago). I searched through many VRBO listings to find just the right place. I wanted it to have a lovely water view, plenty of privacy, and a cozy feel. The Kingfisher Cabin was simply perfect! I didn't find anything else with a view this beautiful. We highly enjoyed the wood-burning stove and relaxed by the fire in the evenings while watching the storms outside. The kitchen was stocked well enough for us to make meals when we didn't go out. We've put the Kingfisher Cabin on our list to come back, for sure!

Kingfisher was so inviting, that we'll keep coming back to stay there again and again...

My parents were visiting from out of the US, and it was my dad's birthday, which my wife and I wanted to make it special. Boy! Were we glad that we rented "Kingfisher" for a couple of days in October! I'd say that the right from the coziness of the cabin, features, its cleanliness, the breathtaking views from the deck, and walk to the water, made the whole experience super-memorable to all of us! It was a perfect getaway that my father and mother will remember forever. Not only did our stay make a mark in all our minds; but, the feeling of home away from home in this surreal place deserves mighty kudos!! What a way to make my dad feel special?! And, he did say that over and over, which blesses our heart! The host, Jessica - who was remote, and her parents who live next door were very inviting, super-responsive, and mighty-helpful! That warm TLC is all part of the whole package. ;-) I would rate this place a 10 out of 5 if that were an option. Don't miss it - very highly recommend!! One thing I'd like to suggest is that the online pictures DO NOT do justice to what the place has to offer. Of course, a camera can never replace the human eyes, I get it. Looking at it positively though - this place T-U-P-W-O-D - Totally Under Promises Way Over Delivers!! Thank you hosts!!

The cabin is about 30 feet above the water - you can easily walk down to the beach. It is profoundly quiet and very private. The huge front deck is to die for. There are a number of old trees around it that don't block the view much, but give shade and also allow lots of birds to surround you. The view is wonderful. The cabin is clean, and has everything we needed. Bedrooms are a bit small, but you'd want to hang around with the panoramic view in the front room anyway.We can't say enough about the hostess. We had one minor issue when we got there. We contacted her, and she was working on it immediately, and didn't let up until it was solved.We visited toward the end of August. Really wonderful. We will be back.About the wildlife... Don't forget binoculars. We were there for maybe 5-10 min when an osprey plummeted into the water and came out with a fish. Saw the osprey 3-4 more times in the next couple of days. Also saw harbor seals every few hours. Lots of the birds you'd expect - cormorants, grebes and gulls in the water, chickadees and juncos on land. Towhees. There are a lot of nuthatches around - they were really fun to watch going up and down the tree bark - some within 10 feet of where we were standing. We did see a kingfisher once. Also creepers, house finches, etc. You get all this sitting on the deck!

We (Mark & Jessica) married and bought the Kingfisher Cabin in the same year. It was a crazy time but we wouldn't change a thing. We love being able to share our beach hideaway and introduce others to Vashon.

Why they chose this property

Jessica's mom grew up on Vashon Island and that is where her parents met. She spent many summers visiting relatives and exploring the island and is happy that her family gets to continue the tradition in their own beach cabin.

What makes this property unique

The Kingfisher Cabin is located on a quiet beach and is surrounded by trees. We almost named it the tree house. The view from inside the cabin or out on the large deck is beautiful. No matter the weather - the water makes it better.
