About this property

Family/dog-friendly cabin, heart of Paradise Valley, 30 min north of Yellowstone

Valley View is a unique rough-cut wood frame cabin situated in a quiet rural neighborhood at the base of Tom Miner Basin. The cabin has easy outdoor living with two porches, outdoor eating facilities, and a sunroom with large south-facing windows. Thirty minutes north of Yellowstone National Park, it has easy access and parking.

Valley View cabin can comfortably accommodate 4-6 guests, with two bedrooms, a sleeping loft, and a second living area with a sleeping option. There is a queen bed in the main upstairs bedroom, and twin bunks in the second bedroom are suitable for adults or children. A sleeping loft with an adult twin bed is accessed through the second bedroom. An additional portable twin bed can be made available in the main-level sunroom. There is a full bathroom on the first floor and a half bath on the main floor.

The advertised base fee is for up to four guests. We charge $30 per extra person per night and can accommodate six guests in total.

The main living area boasts high ceilings, rough-cut wooded beams, and framed pictures and photos taken by the owner, a Montana native. This open-plan area has an oversized comfortable couch and easy chair, a dining table for up to six guests, a smart TV, and direct access to the front porch and the kitchen. The cabin boasts numerous windows, including large southern-facing windows in the sunroom that summer renters can enjoy. One central wood fireplace keeps the main cabin toasty in the cool evenings of the shoulder seasons, and there is also an electric furnace.

The kitchen has complete amenities for your cooking needs. Includes dishware, silverware, glassware, cookware, full refrigerator & top freezer, toaster oven, oven, stove top, & double sink. Kitchen appliances include a drip coffee machine, food processor, microwave, & a range of bakeware.

The expansive lawn is well maintained, so guests must park in the designated parking area indicated in the written directions and map and by the 'park here' sign. Walking distance from the car park to the cabin is approx. 60ft.

Our cabin is a traditional rough-cut timber structure built as a much-loved and utilized second home and family holiday home. If this accommodation style suits you, it will be a fun place to stay and enjoy with family and friends. While we have screens and pest mitigations and ensure the highest cleaning standards, you are in a rough-cut timber cabin in Montana, and in every season, you may encounter the odd insect inside and out.

We do not have air conditioning, but we have ceiling and portable fans, screened doors and windows, and blinds on all our windows. You can combine these technologies to keep the cabin at a comfortable temperature. We provide information on how to do this if it is not something you are familiar with.

If you are looking for a different experience, we recommend you look for accommodations built in more modern styles and materials.

Dogs
We are a dog-friendly property and are delighted to welcome one dog per visit. This is contingent on us receiving, on booking, a guarantee from our human guests that they will ensure their pet is a considerate/low-impact house guest and adhere to our pet addendum. We ask for a $75 dog deposit per visit, which we are happy to refund $50 minus VRBO fees if we do not see evidence of dogs having been on the furniture, extra cleaning due to dog hair, or damage to the property. (One of our guys sheds like crazy, so we understand the shedding issue).

A vacuum cleaner and lint roller are available in the cabin, which you are welcome to use before you leave to eliminate excess dog hair.

Rustic feel home

Very enjoyable couple days at the house. After traveling all day it was nice to feel at home as soon as walking in the doors. We were greatest by a deer as soon as we got there. Clean and very comfortable rooms.

Darling cabin

We had a wonderful time. The cabin is remote but with the most fantastic view. It had everything we needed in the way of beds, kitchen equipment, barbque, room for animals to run, and several deer. We couldn't have asked for more.

Great Vacation

Very clean, very beautiful cabin. Tons of elk and deer in the yard. Bridge being out is the only thing that made the stay less than perfect. But it should be done soon. I would defiantly stay here again. If they would have us.

Spectacular experience of Montana and Yellowstone

This property was an oasis for my family. We were able to drive 20 minutes to the north park entrance and then return home to the cabin and truly relax. The decor and furniture are quality and the cabin well cared for. Thanks to the care taker for super fast communication and availability.

Even better than described!

This cabin was the perfect retreat after long days driving around Yellowstone! We had 5 adults in our group, which included one couple, and everyone had their own space to retreat to after being together all day. Ellen had things there and available for our use that we weren’t expecting like laundry soap, extensive kitchenware and spices. She also had a notebook filled with the area recommendations. So much right at your hands! We would definitely love to go back for a longer stay next time!

Great location and gorgeous rustic experience

4 of us stayed ar the cabin and enjoyed the ristic charisma of the cabin, peace, quietness and proximity to the Yellowstone Hot Springs, Livingston, Gardiner, and the Yellowstone National Park. The cabin is very cozy, clean and very well prepared for the arival of the guest. Kitchen has everything you need from pans&pots to the seasoning cabinet. Beds are comfortable and the smell of the natural wood burning room heater nicely complements the cabin's atmosphere. The host is very attentiveand keeps you very well informed -the directions to the cabin were very detailed and we found it with no problems. Thank you for hosting us - we will be back!

Amazing getaway

This was a 12/10 for sure! First, the location is amazing. I was looking to get away and this was perfect. Its a 10 minute drive down a dirt road to the cabin. I pull up and there are big horn sheep in the front yard and elk in the backyard. (I read a few reviews saying they had a hard time finding the cabin. If you follow the directions that are provided there should be no problem.) Close to Yellowstone and Bozeman. Great restraunts closer in Livingston and Gardiner. Ellen was a great host. Super responsive, had great suggestions on where to see wildlife and how to run a few of the amenities that were provided in the cabin. The cabin itself is a vibe. Very rustic, authentic for the area. Super clean and cozy. I love the porch with a swing where you could sit and just watch the elk graze or the bald eagles circling above. All in all I can't rave about this property enough. The location, the scenery, it was all just so perfect for the vacation I was looking for and I think what most people who are looking to visit the area would like. I definitely plan on making the trip again next summer! Book this place you won't regret it!

Fantastic and Memorable

My wife and I and our two kids (8 & 12) spent 14 days here and didn’t want to leave. The cabin is set in a quiet spot with lovely views, is neat and clean and has loads of rustic charm. We spent hours on the nearby creek and on the Yellowstone , both very short walks. We also spent hours on the porch swings taking in the views, grilling, reading, and relaxing. My wife worked from the cabin the second week and adored the sunroom she called her office. The Wi-Fi is strong with no problems for anyone needing it. The cabin is very well appointed with everything and anything you could expect to need, and if you have questions that go beyond what can be answered in the comprehensive binder, Ellen and Drew are glad to answer them. They were great hosts who make themselves available. This cabin has been in their family for decades, and was built by them and has the feel of many good family times spent here. We drove from Vermont with our kids as well as our beagle and cat, both of whom were welcome there. The ideal location is just a 35 min drive to the gardiner MT entrance to Yellowstone National Park and the same to Livingston. A bridge that normally would make the trips even shorter was wiped out by the 2022 flood so expect a bumpy ride on the dirt road to paved 89, but also expect to see herds of elk, plus antelope and deer as you drive along the Yellowstone and take in the mountainviews. We could not have been happier with this cabin and it’s hosts and location.

Great stay!

The cabin and surrounding property was wonderful. I was worried the cabin would be smaller in person than it looked, but it was a large cabin with plenty of room. It was very clean, my dog loved running around the property and it really couldn't have been much better.

Good Potential but Not There Yet

I will start off by saying the location is excellent, close to the hot springs and close to the national park. But everything else left much to be desired. To start off, I booked the cabin and paid in full, a month or so before arrival I got an email requesting an additional $120 because there was an error on their end and they didn't charge enough... I paid it without complaint, as I have NEVER been unhappy with a vacation rental through VRBO or other popular websites. When we first arrived, after traveling 12 hours to get there, we had to park a significant distance from the house and carry our luggage through the snow and wind in the dark to get inside. Then once we got inside, we were greeted by the flys. Not just a few, over the course of the week, we killed at least 100 flys. The owners clearly know it’s a problem too because there are fly traps hanging from the ceiling and they provide you with your own fly swatter. The one benefit of the flys, it kept my son busy, it was like a game killing them. This leads into my next complaint, we were there for 8 days with a 6 year old, there were NO games provided. I’ve never stayed in a rental house with no games, not even a deck of cards. This is not a necessity but a suggestion for improvement. The bathroom upstairs smelled awful like something is and has been leaking for years—by the last day I didn’t even want to go in there anymore. Lastly, the cabin was so dirty. You could not sit on the couch without being covered in dog hair when you got up, it was dusty and dirty. The bones of the cabin were good and the location was excellent but the house needs some serious maintenance. We will be returning to the area but not the house.

Beautiful location

we really enjoyed the cabin. it was clean and easy and perfect in pretty much every way. the only thing that was difficult was the flies. when we’d make a fire they would come back to life and there were quite a few in the house for it being fall. made it less enjoyable to heat up the house at night. overall, the place was great tho.

Rustic with an amazing window room!

Cool little cabin with an amazing sun room. Great location to visit amazing Montana offerings. It's a bit rustic and the flies were really bad , most likely because of the rustic interior. It was clean besides the flies. We had fun. Would visit again. Thanks

Great cabin in awesome location

Very comfy and spacious cabin for our group of 5. Only 15-20 min from Yellowstone north entrance. Great little yard with a front and back porch. Great views of the surrounding mountains and range. We had a family of deer come through the property every day! Lots of fun and we hope to be back soon! Thank you

Valley View cabin Emigrant MT

Quaint cabin with lots of room for 6 to 8 people. The cabin was just as the pictures indicated. Comfortable furniture, lots of amenities. It was still warm during the day, so it helped to keep the house cool if you close the shades during the day while away. Pay attention to the information given by the hosts for finding the parking area. We arrived at dusk and the entrance to the property was not well marked, but we found it after a few minutes. We would definitely recommend this cabin for travelers to Yellowstone and Bozeman.

Rustic Fun Cabin Away from it all

My family had an enjoyable 2 night stay as we explored the north side of Yellowstone. The location being only 15 mins. from the north entrance was perfect for us and definitely preferable after what we saw in the town of Gardiner. The cabin was well outfitted with everything we needed from the kitchen, baths and clean bedding. Having laundry was very helpful after long day hikes. The older metal windows did rattle a bit with winds one night. We’d definitely stay again if back in the area.
