Experience log cabin living in a true Nature Lover's Paradise. Visit A 'GEM' in the Forest and leave your troubles behind. Located in 'The Land of the Waterfalls,' this cozy log cabin is situated on 17 private acres with its own trout pond. We do not allow "catch and release" and there is a per pound charge for fish caught.

Comfort in a rustic, private setting, this adorable cabin has it all. The property is located at the top of a gravel road. Rear Wheel Drive , low clearance, and hybrid vehicles are not recommended. Absolutely NO campers or trailers of any kind permitted. Fully furnished throughout, the master bedroom has a king-size bed and the 2nd bedroom has a queen-size and a twin bed. Warm yourself by the wood-burning fireplace, or relax in a rocker on the huge covered porch.

If you enjoy hiking, fishing, mountain biking, waterfalls, wildlife, outdoor adventures, or just plain relaxing, you are just going to love A 'GEM' in the Forest! Area attractions include the NEW Dupont State Forest which is home to High, Triple, and Hooker Falls (three miles away), Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests, Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore Estate, Chimney Rock Park, Grandfather Mountain, and Cherokee Indian Reservation and Casino.

Plenty of activities to enjoy including hiking, pond fishing, fly fishing, mountain biking, swimming in lakes and streams, gem mining, kayaking, canoeing, white water rafting, wildlife watching, horseback riding, mountain climbing, rock climbing, zip lining, micro-brewery hoping, shopping, dining in or out, just plain relaxing and so much more ... if you want to do something, anything, you can find it here.

Honesty is the best policy

The property was nice. Sent a message a week prior asking about fishing. Was told it is 4/lb for trout which is fine. I was not told the pond was empty! When we asked on our first day there when it would be restocked we were told “it’s been fished hard and they have had a problem with a beaver that they were working on getting in restocked. We were there a week and it was never restocked. It was one of the main reason we booked the cabin. Wish we were informed ahead of time so we could have made plans to go fishing elsewhere. Feel we should have been comped something for the inconvenience, dishonesty and disappointment.

This is a beautiful serene cabin tucked up in the mountain and we really love staying here. Such a peaceful experience and a must see. Look forward to many more stays in the future.

Perfect anniversary getaway

“Gem” was exactly what we needed for our anniversary getaway. The house was immaculate and well equipped with everything we could have wanted. The king bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the hummingbirds during the day and the fireflies in the evenings. Our only complaint was that 4 nights was not enough time!

Wonderful relaxing getaway!

Beautiful secluded cabin surrounded by the forest. Perfect location for exploring this area of NC. Great hiking trails and tons of waterfalls.

Beautiful Easter

Some reviews said a 4wd is needed. We drove a Ford Edge up without any issues. We had the best time at this beautiful cabin nestled way back in the woods. We loved the seclusion. Only one complaint- our stay ended too soon. We will certainly stay again!

Cabin in the woods

Great stay! Kids loved the cabin and playing by the pond. Nice secluded location near DuPont. Totally need the 4wd to get there but worth it.

Secluded, Serene and Special

My family of 5 stayed in this home for a long weekend to escape the Charleston heat. The owner was very responsive to my questions and the check in process was very easy. The cabin is located off the beaten path, just barely 20 minutes from Brevard. It sits on some acreage with a pond and plenty of green space to be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. The porch rockers were enjoyed each cool morning over coffee and just absolute silence (save for a woodpecker or 2.) The inside is understated, but clean and comfortable and it provides ample bedroom space and extra blankets. We spent most of our time outside or playing card games at the kitchen table, but the living room has plenty of seating, as well as a TV. The kitchen is well stocked and I didn't miss anything as we prepared most of our meals in the home. Zen Tubing was a quick hour's drive and was a great way to spend a day. We also hiked to several waterfalls within Pisgah and visited Sliding Rock! After arriving on Friday, we headed to the grocery store in Brevard and at the end of Cascade Lake Road, we came across a distillery with several food trucks for dinner and a live band. Both Brevard and Asheville are within 20 minutes for easy eating, groceries or shopping for the elusive white squirrel figurines that are local to that area. All in all, this is a nice, quiet cabin that will be a welcome reprieve from the everyday noise of city or large town life.

Lovely cabin - so close the Dupont waterfalls!

My husband, grandson and I spent 4 days in this rustic cabin in the woods and had a wonderful time. It was so peaceful sitting by the pond in the afternoons while my grandson fished. He only caught a couple small bluegill but enjoyed himself so much. It was just a short drive to the High Falls trail, and the hike and waterfalls were incredible. Check in and out were both easy and our hosts were quick to respond when we had questions. Would highly recommend this property.

Nice, cozy cabin

Myself and two teenage sons very much enjoyed our stay in the cabin. The location was great for getting to DuPont, Pisgah and Brevard. The cabin was a perfect size for us and Brenda was very responsive and accommodating. The trout pond was a bonus!!
