This place was the perfect base for our exploration of the Outer Banks, all the way from Corolla to Cape Hatteras. We loved that it was on an island away from the main street, so it felt quieter and more personal. The pirate theme was top-notch! Stole me breath! The hosts were also very responsive and let me borrow a beach tent (this is a MUST for all of the beaches on the OBX). I also appreciated having the option to cook or go out for meals (the kitchen pretty much had everything we needed, and it was super close to a lot of restaurants). It was very clean and comfortable, and it had all the necessities for the two of us. Admittedly, we never used the hot tub; we were too tired by the time we got back at nighttime!

The Pirate's Lair is a cozy beach stay for a small family. It's neat and clean, with all the amenities. We enjoyed our time there immensely.

The stay was great. It is all one room with the bedroom separated by shelving. The owners were extremely kind and accommodating. Has everything you could need, including a nice large bathroom, great shower and shower pressure, kitchen accessories and grill. The hot tub was a huge bonus. We really enjoyed that. Short walk to the sound side. Far enough away but close enough to things. Highly recommend for couples. There is even a separate nice mattress to put on top of the fold out so it is more comfortable. Speaking of comfortable, the main bed was extremely comfortable. 10 out of 10, we recommend. The owners take very good care to make sure you enjoy your stay.

Pirates lair

Super clean accommodations! Great communication! Great community! Close to town but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet! We will be definitely returning there in future trips!

Great stay at Pirate’s Lair

We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the place very much. It is so cute and has all the immunities that you need. Phil was so quick to respond to any questions. Place was clean and very comfortable! Hoping to be back next year!

OBX vacation

The place was great. Exactly what we needed. Phil is a great host, very responsive. I would recommend his place to anyone who is planning to visit OBX. We had a time of our life!

Gold in The Pirate's Lair!

This place is a treasure! What a super cool place, perfect little living room, big o' bed, but the real treasure was the hot tub! Phil is great and super easy to check-in. We found out new spot at OBX! Thanks Phil!

Cute little Pirate property

Very cosy place close to shops and restaurants. Phil was a cool dude and was very responsive to any questions I had and very kind We had a few minor hiccups on our part but host was very understanding and responsive and fixed the problem very quickly. The hot tub was a plus and property was clean. Would love to come back thanks again

Awesome 3 day spot

Phil was amazing with communication, he had no issue when our party of 3 turned to 4 and was excellent with helping set up. The house was clean and had everything we needed and more. It was a 5 minute walk to a public beach sound side. We were 10 minutes away from almost everything we wanted to do. We will definitely come back either as a family or just the two of us!

Great weekend

We spent three nights at the Pirates Lair. The host was very quick to respond to messages about check-in and the directions were clear. The kitchen was well equipped and the whole property was very clean. The location was great also - a short scenic drive to everything. The only problem we had was that it wasn't really a one bedroom. I never get a hotel room when I travel with my son be cause he snores! I like one of us to be behind closed doors and I thought I would get that here, The 'bedroom' is a bed hidden behind a dresser/bookshelf type stand with no door or real separation. If you know that going in, you'll enjoy your stay!
