We enjoyed a delightful stay at Badger’s Holt.
We were met by the owners, Liz and Colin, on arrival. Lovely, welcoming people who gave us a quick guide around the house and some local knowledge of pubs and eateries. They asked us to call on them if we so desired, but that they would leave us to our own devices otherwise. Perfect hosts!
There was a lovely welcome package including bread, milk, tea, instant coffee, sugar, a package of luxury cookies, wine and chocolate cream eclairs! We’ve never encountered such generosity in a free welcome package before, it’s normally the kind of service that is paid for so that the pantry isn’t bare on arrival.
The house contained absolutely everything necessary, including an ironing board and iron, which you won’t see in many ‘apartments’. A great addition was a washing machine, with an outside line and pegs, and a clothes maiden for inside if it rains.
It really was an entire house set right at the end of the garden, overlooking green fields and big trees. It felt like a tardis, huge rooms in what appeared to be a small building. I could easily have moved in.
There were three bedrooms, one en-suite, and one separate bathroom with a bath (and a downstairs toilet!). All beautifully furnished, with comfy mattresses and so much storage that I’m confident would never be inadequate!
The location is the last house on the edge of the village heading south. The house is set so far back that with even the windows open we didn’t hear any road noise. We did hear sheep and a hooting owl at night. Wonderful!
Many, many thanks to Liz and Colin for a perfect stay!
