Choses à faire à l'automne / hiver:
-Observation des oiseaux / la nature est incroyable depuis notre jetée ou l'un des kayaks fournis

- Sirotez votre café du matin en observant la voie de migration de l'Atlantique - canards, oies, aigrettes, hérons, balbuzards et autres oiseaux migrent au-dessus des eaux devant le chalet

- Guimauves rôties ou tout simplement asseyez-vous près du feu dans le foyer par une nuit croustillante

- Attraper du poisson ou des crabes au large de la jetée ou affréter un capitaine (sébaste / poisson bleu, etc.); marina ~ 4 miles sur la route pour installer un bateau. Amarrage au bout de notre jetée pour le week-end!

-Marchés fermiers, festivals d'automne, etc. (Automne sur le Main, Urbana Oyster Festival, etc.)

-Le bain à remous ne fermera pas avant le 30 novembre (ou jusqu'en décembre selon les demandes)

-La ferme de citrouilles de Belmont à Mathews est ouverte au public les week-ends d'octobre avec des hayrides, des cueillettes de citrouilles, des labyrinthes de maïs et de tournesol, des animaux de ferme à visiter et son célèbre barbecue de porc effiloché et desserts à la citrouille.

-Les visites à proximité de Williamsburg, Jamestown ou Yorktown ou le Northern Neck sont d'excellentes excursions d'une journée quand il fait un peu plus frais; shopping de vacances, sites historiques, etc. Busch Gardens ouvert le samedi en octobre / mi-décembre

-SE DÉTENDRE!

Vues sur l'eau de la plupart des chambres avec accès direct à la baie de Chesapeake sur la propriété via le quai ou la zone de lancement du kayak de sable. Moins de 15 minutes du centre-ville de Mathews. Pêchez ou crabe depuis le quai, kayak ou planche à pagaie sur la baie, admirez la vue depuis le porche grillagé ou détendez-vous au bord de la piscine ou du bain à remous avec un verre. Ce charmant cottage isolé est une véritable retraite! De magnifiques levers de soleil et une faune abondante vous attendent le matin alors que vous regardez la baie depuis le quai ou le porche. Tirez un kayak ou une planche à pagaie directement dans la baie via la zone de lancement de sable (ou tirez quelques chaises pour vous asseoir dans les vagues). ~ 5 acres d'espace pour courir et explorer.

Commodités modernes avec WiFi dans toute la maison, ainsi que Sonos pour alimenter la musique sur le porche ou la piscine. Téléviseur compatible Internet avec Amazon Prime, YouTube TV et Netflix préchargés pour diffuser des films ou vos émissions de télévision préférées la nuit.

Il y a 2 kayaks, une marmite à crabe, un gril à charbon, un foyer et 2 vélos adultes pour votre usage. Du 1er mai au 30 septembre, la piscine est ouverte. Il y a aussi un bain à remous qui est ouvert la plupart de l'année. Le port de plaisance de Horn Harbor est à environ 6,4 km. N'hésitez pas à mettre votre bateau à la marina et à amarrer votre séjour au bout de notre embarcadère.

This is one the best VRBO properties I have ever stayed in. Everything is better than advertised. The views are incredible, crabbing from the dock is simple and fun, and it is in the epicenter of “kayaking heaven”. The communication with host was excellent, direct and timely. We will be back for a longer stay during the summer season.

Perfect Place for a Weekend Away

Property was beautiful and very well maintained. Cottage was cozy and well stocked with everything you would need. Cottage was also very clean. We very much enjoyed the outdoor amenities. Very quiet and a wonderful place to stargaze! We very much enjoyed our stay and would come again!

Second trip!

This is our second visit to Lori’s home. It is such a beautiful property and the house is comfortable and inviting. It is spotless and has almost everything you need to cook and clean up. We love the pool and the hot tub. We went kayaking and watched the sunset on the dock. It is perfect. We will be back next year!

We Will Be Back!

I booked this place on a whim to have a small get away with my husband and children. The listing was exactly as described and came with so many amenities. Lori‘s guestbook was very detailed for the home as well as all the local places to go and saved me a ton of time doing research. The town of Mathews is a wonderful little town with everything you need and everyone is so nice. I arrived by myself and the kids before my husband could get there, so I did Instacart delivery from the local food lion and saved me the stress of dragging 2 kids around to get the house stocked. We will be back!

Peace and Quiet on and in the Water

Everything the two of us wanted for a long end of summer weekend getaway away from the big city. We spent most of our time in the pool and hot tub, which were exceptionally clean and fun. The shore and peer are only few hundred yards away. While we did not make use of the kayaks or bikes, they appeared to be in great shape and easily accessible. The small town of Matthews is a 5 minute drive with several little shops and quite a few enjoyable non-chain restaurants. Highly recommend this house and location.

Awesome Experience!

This is one of my favorite properties I have stayed at through VRBO. Everything (inside the house and the grounds) is in immaculate shape and well maintained. We stayed for the labor day weekend and really enjoyed all of the fun family activities together. We're a family of 5 so we stayed very active kayaking, using the pool & hot-tub, fishing, crabbing, and just relaxing. The town of Mathews is a short drive if you need to run into town for anything or you want to enjoy a local restaurant/shop. Our hosts were extremely responsive to any questions we had too. Overall we highly recommend this property!

Excellent stay in the Cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the area and our stay in the Cottage. Communication with the owner was easy and quick. We especially had fun catching crabs and cooking them! Be sure to take your own towels for the pool.

This was our second time staying here and we’ll definitely be back. Everything about this property is terrific- pool, pier, house (beds, kitchen, etc.). And There are good restaurant options nearby.

Absolutely perfect!

Lori’s home is fantastic! My mom, kids and I had an amazing time!! The saltwater pool was fun and the hot tub was lovely. The house was super clean, well stocked and decorated in a really cute eclectic style. There is a screened in room that is perfect to eat in. We didn’t use the grill, but there is one available. We did use the fire pit and made s’mores under the stars. We also spent time on the dock watching the sunset and sunrise. Off the dock we saw so much wildlife- turtles, fish, eagles and even sting rays. My kids have already asked to go back!

Great getaway for the family!

While it rained most of the time during our stay, my family still had an opportunity to kayak, fish, swim and just have fun at this little slice of heaven. It’s a well laid out property with tons of outdoor activities. The only negative besides the rain for us was that the shops were closed during the week and we had to drive 30 mins away to do any shopping. Otherwise, it was a great time with family and just what we were looking for.

Wonderful getaway with family

Extremely clean property with lots of outdoor amenities. We had a very secluded, quiet weekend getaway before our next child is born. There is lots to do, including crabbing and fishing from the dock, the pool and hottub were a hit with our 3 year old. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet place to get away.

Peaceful property

We loved Lori's house and everything it offered. The property is within 15 minutes of 2 nice little beaches Haven and Bethel. The water views from the pool and hot tub are priceless. Port Haywood is very much away from it all and perfect if you're looking to relax. There are options in Mathews for food and the house is equipped for making the basics. The only thing we were unable to find was a beach blanket and towels. We left a drip coffee maker since my only goal of the trip was drinking a hot cup of coffee every morning outside. We'd love to return during the summer, though we were so thankful the pool was still open. Too cold for the adults in mid October, but the kids thought they were the luckiest!

Worked great for us.

The grounds and amenities are wonderful (pool, spa, kayaks, pier, fire pit, bikes) I think they make this place. The house is well kept. Lori was very responsive. We had a great time and would go back. No issues for us but there are a few things you might want to know... 1) As advertised the house is under 1,600 sq. ft so not large rooms for gathering more than 4 adults. The living room and dining room will not accommodate more than 4 adults. 2 in the kitchen is about max at a time. The screen porch will fit 5 comfortably. All to say, if you plan to be outside you will love this place. If you are looking for a big house with a great room and large kitchen and dining area probably not. 2) As mentioned elsewhere, there are cameras outside everywhere. It was concerning to one of our guests. 3) If you are taking a boat you need to get some charts of the area. It is extremely shallow and if your boat draws more than 2 feet you must use the channels. Its a good ways out to deep water if you are sailing or have a large boat. 4) There is a lease agreement required above and beyond VRBO. We did not get it until the day before we were leaving. 5) Maintenance folks come during your stay (pool, property, etc.) to care for the place.

Amazing cottage!

We couldn’t have asked for a better house to spend our vacation; it was perfect for our family of 5 (3 kids under 10). The design of the pool is great for kids. One entire length is about 4 feet deep while the other is about 8. It worked perfectly for kids and adults. Hot tub was enjoyable and the pier is quite large. The house and kitchen have everything you’d need and the beds were very comfortable. Having plenty of restaurants within a 10-15 drive was nice. Owners were very responsive and communicative. The house and grounds are even nicer than the pictures suggest. Best VRBO we’ve stayed at!
