Picturesque and stately, renovated 4 bedroom waterfront home on Put In Creek (tidal water) within walking distance to downtown Mathews.

Walk to great restaurants, antique stores and many other town attractions.

Relax by the waterfront and watch the wildlife including resident blue herons, swans, etc. Catch crabs from the lawn or launch a canoe or kayak from the boat ramp. Paddle into the adjacent wetlands or further down to the East River.

Great quiet stay

Wonderful place to stay and get away with your family. It felt like being back in time with modern amenities around. The town was just as wonderful as the home. Good places to eat within walking distance.

We had a great stay at Southern Delight. Everything was as advertised. If you are looking for a place to relax this is it and it really is just a 10 minute walk into town.

Epic 50th Anniversary + 70th B-day celebration

We visited for a family and friend gathering in Port Haywood that was fantastic as was the house. Roomy, extremely well taken care of and perfect for the 4 of us.

Great Family Getaway

We chose the property because of its semi-rural location in a small town near Williamsburg. The back yard and charm of the inlet waterway were most pleasant. The house worked well because of the bedroom downstairs with half bath. Great stay, and very prompt and courteous communication with host.

Beautiful home in nice area of town.

Everyone had a wonderful time. The crabbing was excellent which pleased the kids. They had fun. We al had short walks to town for dining and shopoping. We will most likely return for the 3rd time . as we stayed here last fall as well.

great vacay

Great house and location. Not far from Haven Beach and boat ramp. Water is too shallow for fishing, but did catch a few crabs off the dock. Kayaking at high tide was fun. Sitting around fire at night was a good time for family. I have trouble with steps due to hip issues, so was nice to have the one bedroom downstairs. Climbing stairs for the shower was a bit challenging, but I made it! Overall, a great place to stay! My son and his family were with me and said they would definitely book the house again for a vacation.

Relaxing Get Away with Friends

This is a lovely older home close to charming towns, very good restaurants and shops, and bay beaches. Despite limited bathrooms, it's comfortable and roomy with multiple gathering places, including a beautiful sunroom, a furnished deck in the shady yard, and a dock in shallow Put In Creek. Well-stocked with games, fishing gear, crab pot and kayak/canoe, there's room to spread out as well as enjoy time together. Your host is responsive and made excellent suggestions.

Excellent lodgings while working on a project at local marina

We own a small mobile boatbuilding/repair company based out of south Florida and were contracted to work on a yacht at a local marina. This property provided our crew with a most comfortable place to stay and enjoy their downtime. The house is very well-equipped, and the outdoor amenities were amazing. Ms. Bowman was very helpful and supportive throughout our stay. We hope to be able to stay here again should we have future projects in this area.

Quiet, secluded property on the water!

The property is exactly as advertised.....well maintained house.....for those seeking peace and quiet like I was it was perfect. Adirondack chairs on the deck and around fire pit. Host was VERY responsive to questions. WiFi was a little spotty. House plugs were 3-pronged, but recommend bringing your favorite power strip with USB-A and USB-C plug-ins. I'd stay there again!

Great Time

The magnolia-lined drive provided an impressive first look at this lovely 1940’s home. The house was recently updated, sun-filled, very clean, and nicely appointed. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom towels were thick and good quality. We really enjoyed sitting on the dock watching the tide come in and go out, looking for Tommy, the Blue Heron, and seeing the Fiddler and Blue Crabs feeding. It was an excellent property to gather family and celebrate my wife’s 65th birthday.

lovely place on the water

I rented the house for a group of us over a long weekend to attend a friend's father's memorial service. We used three of the 4 bedrooms. The house is very clean and spacious - lots of rooms to spread out in. Strong wifi, but mostly in the family room and the downstairs bedroom (it gets weaker in other parts of the house). Would rent again if my travels bring me back to Mathews.

Exceeded expectations

This was our first time with VRBO and it was amazing! The owner was very responsive and communication was excellent. The house was spotless and had everything you needed, above and beyond our expectations. Charming, warm and inviting, beautifully decorated, the house is beautifully situated on the water. The outdoor area is outstanding and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Loved being able to walk into town, which is adorable, and the people are so nice. We even saw Tommy! I highly recommend staying here, we're so glad we did! Thank you for taking such good care of your guests!

Paradise in Mathews

From the first inquiry to leaving for home, the property owners was very attentive to questions and concerns and very easy to contact. The property was very beautiful and the photos do not do it justice. We have 4 adults in our family and there was more that enough space. The tidal river was nice and the fire circle was a great place to end the day with smores. The town of Mathews is very walkable and has nice shops and restaurants. If we are ever in the area again, this is the place we will stay. The home was well stocked with everything you will need. Bill and Mary Duckert
