Cozy, private waterfront stone cabin on the north shore of Lake Travis


Casa de Esperanza is a stone cabin built on 9 acres in 1947 with the birth of Lake Travis. It was completely renovated in 2020. It is nestled under majestic live oaks with the prevailing wind blowing through their canopies; you'll notice no background freeway noise, only peace, quiet and privacy; deer/ bird watching; sterling sunsets, boat traffic along Lake Travis. **
Inside, there's rustic cedar furniture, vaulted cedar beam ceiling, full kitchen and dining; Bath includes a shower made with fossils found on property, or relax in a refreshing private outdoor shower; museum quality arrowheads are also to be found on property (you find, you keep). kayaks or canoe provided. Boat rentals nearby. Nice playscape for children in adjacent park.
18 hole golf course nearby. North Austin 30 minutes, downtown 50 minutes.
Nearby restaurants in Lago Vista, Jonestown, and Cedar Park. Casa is secluded from owner's home on the property.
Casa rents for 2 nights minimum and 7 nights maximum.
** In all transparency, holidays (Memorial Day, 4th July) are usually not very quiet because of neighboring lake parties

We loved walking by the lake. Very peaceful and relaxing. Watched all the deer by the water and in the yard. Our host left his golf cart to use which was so very nice.

This home is perfect for both brief getaways and extended vacations, featuring a semi-private location with direct access to the scenic shores of Lake Travis. The home was well-equiped with necessary kitchen items, comfortable beds, bath towels, sheets, cleanliness, and a beautiful outdoor sitting area to watch deer meander on by. We were warmly greeted by the host, Michael, upon arrival and provided with pertinent information regarding the property. His considerate gesture of having the home cooled to a comfortable temperature was highly appreciated.

This is our 4th or 5th (we lost count) to stay at this house. The host always makes sure that we are okay and have what we need. The house is literally on the water so the views are always amazing every time we visit.

July 4th Vacay

The cabin was just as described in the listing. It was a beautiful view of the water and a short walk down to the small beach. Michael, the host, was very accommodating in answering all my questions and was very helpful. While it rained most of our visit, we did get to go zip lining and play some golf. Overall, it was just what we needed--a break from Houston. I would highly recommend this location if you are looking for some peace and quiet, but still be close to fun things to do.

Mini Paradise

This is our 3rd or 4th stay (we lost count). We always enjoy ourselves at this property....it is so relaxing. This time we not only saw deer and the large variety of birds, we saw a jack rabbit busy at work crossing the field over and over (maybe feeding his family) and we saw a roadrunner up close and personal in the yard. The views are amazing and we are so close to the water. We sat outside most of the time and enjoyed every minute of it. The lake breeze was great. We will probably book this paradise again maybe even this year.

Hidden Gem - great location and quiet

Great Host and property. Spent 3 nights during the week and wished we had stayed an entire week. Gorgeous views, lots of deer and friendly locals. Mike (host) loaned us 2 kayaks and a golf cart to get around the property- it made loading/unloading our luggage a breeze. 2 bbq grills (one propane and the other charcoal). Rented a pontoon boat for 3 hours from s nearby company called Liquid Thrillz. Worth every penny! The lake house was very charming and clean- would definitely return.

Perfect Getaway

The cabin was awesome, the property is beautiful. Mike was super cool, let us use the golf cart, brought the kayaks to the water for us, and let us use his firewood. We cooked, kayaked, ran around with the dog, looked for arrowheads, stargazed, watched deer from the porch. It was perfect.

Great family vacation spot!

This our second time staying here and we absolutely love it! The property is quiet and overlooks Lake Travis. Easy location to bring your dogs and is a quick walk to the water. This is our family’s favorite vacation spot and we plan to make it a tradition!

Nothing short of magical

Hit the book button. Great host. Quiet retreat!! It was ALL amazing! Clean and well thought out house, great master bed. Lakefront was a magical experience. Swam in the lake, pitched a tent for some R & R while getting some sun and listening to the gentle waves. Private beachfront can’t be beat. Fun yard games! Golf cart to venture to the lake at the foot of the property. My husband rated this experience in the top 3 EvEr and we have travelled near and far so that is saying a lot!!! So much fun! Thank you for letting us stay. Now my husband thinks he needs a lakefront property.

Cabin on Lake Travis - what a gem!

My family and I recently stayed at this cabin on Lake Travis in Lago Vista. The home and grounds were perfect. Private access to the lake made it so convenient and easy to bring our dogs and walk back and forth between the cabin and lake. Mike was amazing and provided anything we needed. We are looking forward to booking this cabin again for family get togethers!

Michael Haas is a native Texan and Gail Atwater moved to Lago Vista in 1982 to escape the northern winters. We have raised a family on this property and actually lived in Casa de Esperanza for several years until our house was built. Before we lived in it, Gail ran Casa as a bed and breakfast with much success. We are now retired and look forward to sharing this beautiful property with guests again.
