3-bdrm Oceanview Condo at Makahuena -Walk to Poipu Beaches- NEW Split A/C SYSTEM

Located in the "almost always" sunny, resort town of Poipu, on the gorgeous south shore of Kauai, this oceanfront complex is situated on the southernmost point of the island. From the edge of the dramatic cliffs, just above the crashing waves, you can watch the sunrise in the morning as well as the sunset in the evening, without even switching the spot your standing on! During the winter months, this is one of the best locations on the island for watching the whales that also make Hawaii their seasonal home.

This 3-bedroom, 2-œ bath, home is perfect for an island holiday with two families because there are 2 En Suite master bedrooms. (1 king, and 1 queen). Additionally, there is an enclosed loft with one full bed, and two twin beds. We also just installed a brand new ($29K) state of the art split A/C system. It's the most efficient type of a/c available, so this is now one of the most comfortable condos in the resort!

The entire home is newly outfitted with all-new island dĂ©cor and furnishings. Enjoy the ocean view from the lanai, or stroll down to “the point” to see everything up-close. The Hawaiian sea turtles show off every day in the cove in front of the complex. The spinner dolphins also enjoy performing for your viewing pleasure. Additionally, in the winter months, you'll see Humpback whales playing, splashing, and breaching as they navigate around the point.

Makahuena is located in between the town's two main beaches. From the condo, it's less than a ten-minute walk to Poipu and Bennecke’s Beaches to the west. You can also hike east from our property along the cliff trail to Shipwreck Beach.

Some of the island's best dining, shopping, and attractions are just a stone's throw away, so we know you’ll be happy you chose this island home for your Kauai vacation.

We loved this location! We spotted whales several of the days right from the balcony, enjoyed walking along the rocks in front of the property and spent some time at the pool. The location especially in the winter is great- more sun on the south side of the island. The condo itself really had everything we needed, plenty of towels, detergent, beach chairs, etc. I will say if you are looking for a big kitchen with a lot of space, this isn't the place but it worked great for us. Beds were a hit and miss- everyone has different tastes. Overall, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Chad was also great and easy to communicate with.

Yes, great washer and dryer. Very comfortable beds. Master bathroom had a lingering odor of pee. Shower and sink clean. Balcony was lovely when not too cold—it rains in the winter—or too hot when it was sunny. A/c was greatly appreciated by the family. Would have been nice to have curtains or shades in the family room when the sun was streaming in and out was too hot for the a/c even! The oven was broken and caused a big headache. Whenever we turned on the stove top, the broiler came on. Too hot! Host was very responsive but just couldn’t replace it for us. The inconvenience refund was appreciated but really caused us challenges to eat. Tossed out a lot of food unfortunately BBQ’s are nice but often busy at mealtime.

Ever since Covid, I’ve gotten used to being a little disappointed in what you get versus what people are selling online. This was such a wonderful exception! The communication, the cleanliness and views from the condo, the beach chairs, and towels available for use
 I’m already looking at trying to return to this authentically terrific condo next year.The AC worked great- we had some user error at first as we learned the remote controls, but no problems once we figured out the system.

Family of 5, with 3 college age kids. This unit was amazing! 6 Stars!. Entry level with kitchen, 1/2 bath, laundry room, living room and balcony overlooking pool area and ocean. The condo contained all the necessities to make the entire trip extremely enjoyable for entire family. From extras like the beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, beach towels, beach buggy/wagons, complete kitchen spices/sauces/coffee maker, etc., to even bug spray for hikes! This condo has everything you might have forgotten to bring (or didn't need to pack!).The mattresses, bedding, pillows were super comfortable with more pillows than we could use. Each room has ceiling fans with individual room AC controls. This was a plus as some like to sleep cold, and some not so much. They worked amazingly. All (3) bedrooms have separate controls, as well as the living room. Parking was great with plenty of spots available. Walk to condo from parking lot was close, with only 2 flights of stairs to 3rd floor condo with amazing views of ocean. We watched sunrises and sunsets from both condo area (chairs overlooking ocean), to Poipu beach and Shipwreck beach only 5 minute drive from condo. This is the southernmost point on island with the best views. Close to airport (25min), boat tours (25min), and about 1 hour drive to North Shore (Princeville) and trails to Napali coast (Awa'awapuhi trail). Had the most amazing week in Kauai, and this condo was best central location.

Had a good stay with our adult family of four but had a couple of concerns. The edges (nosings?) on the first set of stairs are either cracking or loose and you can feel them move when going up or down. The loft can stay fairly warm even with AC, we had to move a mattress into one of the bedrooms after the first night. ACs are dusty, not sure if they're being cleaned regularly. Some of the wall-mounted lights or hangers are broken or hanging by a thread. Single-ply toilet paper was a bit disappointing.Overall the place is great and has good amenities, is in a great location and central to many points of interests in Poipu. It could just use a bit of a deep clean, a couple cosmetic and functional updates, and a little TLC.

The Condo was truly good but not great. I will try and offer honest and balanced feedback both for the benefit of the host and also for potential guests in the future.Positives: *The host, Chad, and on-Island support Keenan, were both very helpful and responsive. Extremely positive and great customer service.*Condo location and view were amazing.*Parking was easy and convenient*The pool, grilling area were both nice and as expected.*The unit included all as advertised in terms of supplies, dishware, in unit laundry and beach supplies.* Wifi and TVs/Entertainment all worked greatConsiderations:* Both the condo and unit have a lot of stairs (to get there and once inside) with no elevator option. Just be aware if you are traveling with someone who is mobility challenged.* The condo complex and unit are both a bit "dated." There is some "rusting" around windows on the paint and on drapes. The kitchen is okay but had elements which could use a "deep cleaning."Overall I feel it was very good stay and nice place which met our needs. If we had 6 again, I would consider staying again but if my group was less, I think I might look at some other places.I wish there was a way to give it 4.5 stars but I had to choose and it falls a bit short of "excellent."

Location is perfect for any Island Activities

We spent a week and had a great time. We enjoyed being able to use all of the beach chairs, cooler, etc. while we visited. The condo is quiet and the pool is well maintained and beautiful. Of course, the view in the corner is gorgeous! You can look out from this condo and see the pool and the ocean.This condo is located close to several beaches and is centrally located so it doesn’t take too long to get to anywhere on the island. The grocery store is a short drive away to stock up on the essentials.I highly recommend staying in this condo when you visit Kauai!!

Our family spent a week at the condo. What drew me was the three bedrooms. I appreciated the loft with 3 beds. All of the beds were super comfortable. So many thoughtful items and fully stocked kitchen and bathrooms. Truly felt like home. The grounds are like a park. So many beautiful flowers. The pool and hot tub was a bonus. Loved the location. Walkable to Poipu beach and shops/eating. Communication was seamless. They have beach toys, umbrellas, chairs, a cooler
literally thought of everything. Washer and dryer was so helpful for our family. Will definitely stay again if we come back.

We loved our stay. We’ve been to Kauai 4 times and loved this location. The view of the ocean included whales and dolphins! The condo is spacious and pretty clean. The only wish is more toilet paper and paper towels. We stayed 11 nights and ran out of both. One important tidbit is that you need a key to get into the unit. The door will not open at all without the key. Also, the handle to the door doesn’t get you in. Just turn the key and push open

Perfect location. Saw whale breach from balcony while enjoying my morning cup of coffee. The dishwasher didnt work but maintenance was quick to respond. Unfortunately it wasnt repairable. Aside from dishwasher aperfect spot. Would stay again. strepairable...but not the end of the world.

Fantastic stay!

We had such a fantastic stay! It was exactly as expected and described in the listing and so close in proximity to all the things we love to do in Kauai. The owner was more than accomodating and made sure to always let us know he was available for anything we needed. We also loved that we had beach chairs and toys galore which saved us time and money from renting. Everything worked great and my family and I had plenty of space. We will definitely be back!

A slice of heaven!

We had a fantastic stay at the Makahuena! Poipu is gorgeous with some of the best beaches. The Makahuena property is a delight. Lovely pool and great spots to watch turtles. The condo was one of the best we have stayed in. Great spaces, perfectly clean, very well stocked kitchen with lots of extra cooking supplies. We loved our stay and would love to come back again someday. Thanks Chad for all of your help along the way.

First Hawaii vacation

We had an amazing time on the island the condo was in a perfect location. We saw many sea turtles and a pod of dolphins of at least 100. So many beautiful birds that came to visit us while sitting on the balcony. In addition the condo was very well stocked with everything you need for a great beach day. We were very pleased with our choice and already plan on coming back in the future.

Awesome Family Licarion

What a beautiful condo! And a beautiful location! Perfect for our family of 6 - parents and 4 adult-sized teens to celebrate mom’s “Hawaii 5-0” birthday. The condo has everything a family needs for a great vacation and very comfortable beds. We enjoyed sunrises, the walking path to Shipwreck beach, turtle sittings, waves crashing on rocks and easy access to Poipu beach and all it has to offer. We will definitely be back!

Perfect for our Group of 7

Everything about this property worked perfectly for the needs of our group of 7 people. The property is right on the ocean and the condo has a great ocean view. There’s a place on property to view the sunset and a spot within walking distance to view the beautiful sunrise. The grounds are meticulously kept and quiet yet close to everything we needed. Inside the condo we had lots of extras that made staying here so convenient like beach towels/chairs/umbrellas and snorkel gear. The lanai was a great place to hangout and the washer and dryer came in handy. Super comfortable beds and plenty of nice linens. Great air conditioning, too! The property manager, Chad, was always quick to respond to questions and so easy to deal with. Overall, for us, this place was a great find. Highly recommend!
