Beautiful renovated Surfside home - bright and welcoming, 200 steps to beach!

"The House that John Built" was lovingly renovated recently and is new to the market! A perfect family getaway, this home is bright, airy and welcoming - there is room for everyone! You can head the waves from the new beautiful deck! Situated between Surfside and Nobadeer, just 200 steps to Fishermans beach, this house is outfitted for your ideal Nantucket getaway. We have everything you need for the beach including chairs, a wagon, coolers and even spike ball! We have a deck that is perfect for watching sunsets (there is an able for 8 and a loveseat sitting area) and has a brand new gas grill. There is a back deck with an outdoor shower and a large front lawn.

This house has an open floor plan so that everyone can gather together. Right off the renovated kitchen is a dining room that can seat 8-10 comfortably. There is also a mudroom entry way with an updated 1/2 bath, enough hooks for everyone's towels and a washer/dryer. Off the kitchen is a large living room where everyone can gather to play games or watch a movie.

There is plenty of space for everyone to have their own sleeping quarters in this house! All new mattresses and beds, each room has been carefully decorated and for the calm, comfort everyone is looking for after a long day at the beach. There is master suite on the first floor, with an ensuite marble bathroom. Attached to the master is the "Captains Quarters" a very special glassed in solarium that is the perfect place for a cocktail or coffee on cooler ACK days. Upstairs are two spacious and inviting bedrooms connected by a renovated bathroom. One has a queen and one has a queen and a twin pull out couch. Finally, the "Upper Deck" has a private stairway up from the mudroom and is the perfect bunk room or couples getaway. The room has a double, a twin, a twin trundle and a pullout couch. The upper deck has. a private deck that has distant water views and has an ensuite bathroom and sitting area.

This house is perfectly situated, close to the beach, an easy drive to town or in any direction from Madaket to Sconset. We hope your family enjoyed many ACK memories in this house, built by local surveyor/engineer for his family in 1990.

Wonderful Stay in Surfside!

This home was large, nicely furnished, comfortable and beautifully appointed. Beautiful yard and porch for hanging out or eating dinner. It was a quick, easy walk to one of the nicest beaches on the island. The owner was communicative and helpful. We would definitely rent this home again.

Wonderful!

We just returned from a two week stay at "The House That John Built" and we wish we could have stayed longer! The home is warm, comfortable and welcoming, newly updated and decorated in perfect Nantucket style. Check in and check out were a breeze, and everything was spotless. The fully stocked kitchen had every utensil/pot/pan needed. There were ample beach and bath towels which we greatly appreciated. The kitchen appliances were new and new washer/dryer as well. We used the gas grill just outside on the deck almost every night and enjoyed the sound of the surf from the deck and bedrooms. The property truly is steps to the beach-such a great location! We have three in our family (myself, my husband and our 18 year old daughter) with an additional guest the first week and a different guest the following week. The house was the ideal layout for us and our friends. All loved the house as much as we did. The homeowner Carey was always reachable if we had any questions, and anything that came up (barely) was tended to promptly. We are so grateful to have had the chance to enjoy this Nantucket home and could not have been happier with "The House that John Built". We highly recommend! Thank you Carey for sharing your home with us!

What a wonderful house and a seamless and accommodating experience! The house is meticulous, comfortable and stocked with everything you might need, and such a quick walk to the beach. Carey was super responsive and flexible. We had an amazing time for Christmas Stroll and will definitely rent from Carey again.

Fantastic trip and stay!

Carey was so nice and easy to communicate with, it made the booking and whole renting process a breeze. The house was well stocked with whatever you could possibly need, from beach chairs, toys, bikes, lobster pot, cleaning supplies, etc. It truly felt like a beach home away from home! The walk to Fisherman's beach (next to Surfside) was so close and convenient. Yet, the house is extremely close to a central bike path and easy to get into town and other parts of the island. It's not easy to find a house that is close to the beach and other parts of the island, so this was a huge win. The house itself is beautifully decorated inside, yet comfortable. We cannot say enough good things about our stay at The House That John Built. We loved it and hope to return next summer!

The memories we built!

Along with ideal Nantucket weather, we had an ideal week at The House That John Built! The location is great for walks to Nobadeer/Fisherman's beach (nice neighbors showed us shortcut path), and close to the airport. Spaces were generous, clean and charming -- layout is perfect for our extended family, with room to gather or separate (for kids naps). We enjoyed cooking in the open, well-equipped kitchen (outdoor grill appreciated for our Striped Bass catch!), and eating at the indoor harvest table or out on the deck. Thoughtful amenities: beach towels, outdoor shower (great after sandy beach), toys/games for adults and kids, beach umbrella/chairs, invaluable little red beach wagon. Carey made us feel welcome and was always prompt and helpful on communication (with good ideas for our 1 rainy day!).

Lovers Lane Held True To It's Name !

Your home was such a magical treat for our group. We had 4 couples and your home was perfect with 4 private bedrooms. Literally just steps to the beach, the location was amazing. On top of that my beautiful GF actually fell in love on Lovers Lane. What an amazing September Nantucket Weekend I would recommend this property to anyone. We will be bACK!

Owner was extremely pleasant and responsive to all inquiries and helpful onadjustments in schedule.

This is an older property (best guess built in 1960s) on a very large lot approximately a 5 min walk to the magnificent Surfside beach in a lovely neighborhood. The house is quite large and could easily accommodate a large group with all of its bedrooms and great room/living room/kitchen. Also has lots of windows if you prefer that or a/c if needed. Bathrooms are small but serviceable. Kitchen upgraded with new cabinets and appliances. Because of age and wood frame construction, exterior and decks weathered, curb appeal is not its strongpoint.

Amazing thru and thru

The property really impressed us. Steps from the beach, large yard, newly renovated, it had everything we wanted and more. The owner was so gracious and welcoming. She made sure our stay was perfect. Nothing but high praises in every category. Honestly the entire experience was bliss.

Perfect Nantucket Getaway

The shugrue residence was simply perfect! Its rare that you find a vacation rental where its so obvious that the owners have taken such pride in their home and the enjoyment of their guests. Highly recommend this home!
