Take a step back in time at this unique and tranquil getaway. Originally built in the late 1800's and nestled in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina. The Vicar House offers 1bedroom with a trundle day bed, an upstairs loft bedroom with a king size bed, updated bathroom, and full kitchen accommodations. Enjoy your time lounging on the back deck, roasting marshmallows in your firepit, rocking on the front porch, or dipping your toes in our refreshing Watauga River frontage! You are sure to relax in the quite country atmosphere!
Don't forget to enjoy the surrounding area attractions like the Valle Crucis Park and historical Mast General Store. This place was a perfect quick stay for our visit. Was very clean, cleaner than most cabins (which is ok) but this exceeded expectations. Had a couple portable and window AC units which I worried may not be up to the task on a summer day but they far exceeded expectations keeping the whole cabin comfortable. Everything we needed extra toilet paper, paper towels, etc seemed to be in the first place we looked which seemed well thought out and user friendly. We will definitely be looking at booking in the future again here. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

This cabin was so incredibly clean and well maintained. Literally has everything you need for a stay. So much to do around the area and the deer that come through the yard randomly are so beautiful to watch. It will definitely be a place we come back to.

My husband and I rented the property for two nights. Our issues were as follows: the AC units were not turned on in 90-degree weather. As a result, the house did not cool until the middle of the night. That is 1/3 of our stay. The bedroom upstairs, the only true bedroom, could not be used. We slept on the sofa due to the temperature. Dirty soap was left in the shower. The hot tub on the property was not clean. Communication with the host was very difficult. When we expressed our concern to VRBO the host chose to have a very poor attitude. The host was not ready for our stay the property.

We absolutely LOVED everything about the cabin! The location down a windy dirt road, down by the river which was perfect for evening walks with our toddlers, a creek and small waterfall right off the porch (again, perfect for toddler exploration), wood burning stove, comfy king size bed in the loft! Everything was amazing. All of the antique and unique items around the cabin made it feel so warm and cozy because you could tell that every detail was carefully collected and picked to add so much charm and character. We will absolutely be back to this beautiful cabin!

We had a wonderful stay! Very clean and well equipped. If you are looking for a place to stay that is not far from Boone and other towns, yet offers a little more peace and quiet, this is the place for you. The cabin is even more beautiful in person than in pictures. And the host is very friendly and excellent with communication!

I’m originally from FL. I’ve been bringing my children up here for 35 years. I got custody of my granddaughter and decided to permanently relocate. I like being a host so that other people can see what I fell in love with up here that made me move. We recently had a hurricane come through here so things aren’t quite back to normal but enough so that we could get back up and running.. (or should I say strolling. )
