Soak in the stunning sunset views! Bring your own boat to be out to the Gulf of Mexico within minutes. No boat, no problem. You can rent one right down the road or take ferry to the beautiful Captiva Island. Close to restaurants, grocery stores, and activities.

Sunshine State of Mind is a cozy 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home with water views. There are two spacious living rooms on the main floor. Each living room equipped with smartTV/ Roku. (no cable) Netflix, and Fubo provided. Complimentary WIFI. Open kitchen located on main floor is fully equipped with oven, microwave, Keurig, toaster, blender, crockpot etc.
Master bedroom had King sided bed with in suite bathroom.
Spare bedroom 1 has Queen sized bed and set of bunk beds.
Spare bedroom 2 has 1 queen sized bed.
Downstairs is accessed by its own entry and includes full bathroom, surfboard pub table, refrigerator, pull out couch and washer/dryer.

Outside has large dock with covered 12k boat lift. The short canal leads directly into Pine Island Sound and in 10 minutes you are in the Gulf or enjoying the shell filled beaches of Sanibel Island , Captiva, Cayo Costa or Fort Myers beach. Life here includes pristine beaches, world class fishing and incredible native wildlife all are sure to enjoy. Home is located close to marina to make fueling up the boat a breeze. Restaurants and live music are a short car ride, bike or golf cart ride away.

Unfortunately, our stay was not that pleasant. Although, the house is beautifully decorated and the beds were comfortable, upon our arrival we encountered that the refrigerator was not working and if you could get electrecuted if you use the microwave. We immediately contacted the host, who said that they were going to send someone, but they never did. Additionally, the shower curtains were so dirty and full.of mold and meldew that no one in our party wanted to take a shower in there. The part that bothered us the most was that the host did not seemed to care about our concerns. She knew about the refrigerator and microwave not working prior to checking time, but did not say anything to us until.6 PM after we had already settle in the house. If she would have let us know of the condition of the appliances, we would have gotten a different place. Her position was that they had gone through a hurricane and things happen, but we are hosts ourselves and our house has gone through 2 major hurricanes (Helene and Milton) and would not rent our house if it was not in good condition for our guests to occupy. A microwave that "zap you"/"electrocute you" it's not just an inconvenience, it's a huge liability;, this house should not be rented until.all these things are fixedThey had a smaller refrigerator in a sort of storage room downstairs that can only be access by going outside the house and down 2 flights of stairs, while fighting all the bugs and mosquitoes (unacceptable!).

Little get-a-way

We enjoyed our 6 days away. This was our first time in the area and we would come back. We brought our boat and dogs. It’s easy access to fishing. Caught (and released) reds, snook and trout. Neighborhood is one of the friendliest we have ever stayed in with VRBO. Wish we could have stayed longer. Enjoyed several of the restaurants that are a short distance away. Really enjoyed Island Getaway for breakfast 
 delicious homemade pastries!

Relaxing on Pine Island

Originally had booked a place in Matlacha unfortunately the late summer hurricanes along with a tornado spawned by the hurricane caused us to cancel. We did not find out until 2 weeks before our planned trip. We were so fortunate to find this place and it was perfect for a relaxing week in Florida. Also the owner was very gracious to help us with several items of clothing we left there by mistake.

A few hiccups but otherwise good

The doors have a weird old school electric lock that did not immediately make sense to me so I called the owner/manager and got a bit of an attitude about explaining it. I stepped on broken glass in the kitchen on day 1 which left me sore for the rest of the stay but there was a first aid kit. We found a pair of dirty underwear in the coffee table drawer and a broken pottery decoration in the drawer under the TV. I think they just need a more thorough cleaning because the house seems well cared for. The boat lift needs work. We were very nervous using it and the hose has no spray nozzle it’s just cut off. Also the ice maker is stored outside not inside like it’s shown and it’s moldy in the bottom.

Family time

Enjoyed the house. Kitchen was well equipped for breakfast and lunches. We ate dinners out. Beds were comfortable. We did not use pull out sofa downstairs. Great living space for games and TV watching.

Amazing staycation

We stayed for 4 nights and had an outstanding time. The house was perfect for us and checking in was a breeze. It was updated recently and very clean. The decor is adorable. The neighbors were super friendly. Having the doc to bring our boat was a huge plus! We highly recommend the banana house!!

Beautiful newly remodeled home

I had an awesome stay with my 3 border collies. This is an exceptional property with canal access. The neighbors are very friendly and helpful! St James City is recovering from hurricane Ian, but there are plenty of things to do and a lot of the restaurants are open and welcoming. The property has plenty of room to park your boat and trailer. The boat lift was still under repair during my stay, but it is a perfect location to explore by water. The main bedroom has a very comfortable bed and the home has all new appliances and the decor is very well done!
