Welcome to the scallop shack! Fully renovated!
This home features a beautiful view of Indian Lake, and a beautiful deep canal, connecting it directly to Crystal River with a 15 to 20 minute boat ride. From the boat dock, you can see Manatees play and catch incredible fish. One two person and two smaller one person kayaks are included in the rental. There is a private boat dock on the other side of the lake that is inexpensive and easy to launch from. Within walking distance of the house is a friendly liquor store and the biscuit barn — best breakfast anywhere!!!
If you turn left out of the canal, you will be in Kings Bay, the canals are very well marked so you can go out for dinner at the wonderful waterfront restaurants and have no trouble finding your way home. If you turn right out of the canal you had to the grass flats where scallops abound!!
Relax around the fire pit in comfortable chairs at night. Enjoy the warm breezes in the screened in Lanai. There are three cozy bedrooms with televisions in each one. The master features, a king bed and en suite bathroom. There is a very private queen bedroom in the back corner of the house, and the middle bedroom has a trundle bed with two twins. All of the bedrooms have nice closet space, and bright windows. The master bathroom has a shower and the hallway bathroom has a shower with a tub. In the living room there is a double Murphy bed. The house sleeps 8 comfortably.
Sometimes we have rainy days, and there is a dining table that converts to a pool table for a little indoor entertainment😊

Enjoyed our stay a lot. When we booked, it was a little surprise when we got charged extra for housekeeping. Thought posting said all fees included. That said, it was a comfortable stay. As a older home, it had a few quirks but once figured out ..it was good. Aaron and Cori couldn't have been more accommodating. Anything we needed was taken care of quickly. Was a very quiet neighborhood and as shown. Everything was supplied and more. The king bed was a little high, but the queen was very comfortable. Gel. Would considering staying again.

We had a fantastic stay- the house was wonderful, spacious and clean. The screened porch on the water was great for having meals. We caught fish right off the backyard, and kayaks were a bonus for seeing manatees and all kinds of other wildlife. The host did great communication. We hope to visit again someday!

We had a wonderful week at this home. The location was everything: corner lot of with the lake/canal in the backyard. We fished there and saw manatees from the Florida room. The host’s response to any questions was immediate. The kitchen remodel to “new” was appreciated by the ladies. The convertible dining/pool/ping pong table was a pleasant store our grandkids. There are kayaks and bikes in the garage but they were not in a condition we thought would be safe as they appeared in need of some repair. Overall. Our week was wonderful without the typical spring break crowds. The manatees however had left the springs due to warmer than expected weather. We would consider renting this home again with a few minor adjustments.

Perfect spot for Scalloping & Relaxation

We had a great time at the Scallop Shack! The location was perfect for scalloping - easy access boat ramp, nice dock & beautiful ride to the Gulf and Springs. We brought our teens (ages 15-19) and their boyfriends and everyone had a great time. The pool/ping pong table is great for all ages. The Host’s communication was top-notch! Very easy to work with. Highly recommend this house and will stay again!

We stayed at the "Scallop Shack"!

Thank you for our great stay at the Scallop Shack. My husband & I had a trip of a lifetime and staying in this fantastic spot was certainly a part of that. We went deep sea fishing, inshore fishing, air boat rides, and visited several waterside restaurants and shops in the area. Definitely recommend to anybody looking to stay in Crystal River!

The shower door in the full bathroom is broken and unstable. Water from the shower soaks the floor. While showering, if you need to hold the rail of the sliding door for stability, you will push it outward and fall out onto the bathroom floor. Also, there is ABSOLUTELY NO RHYME OR REASON FOR THE LOCATION OF LIGHT SWITCHES IN RELATIONSHIP TO THE LIGHTS THEY CONTROL. You have to go on a wild goose chase throughout to find the proper switches for the lights you want on inside and outside the house. If you make a game of turning on lights, you'll have fun! Besides those two things, all was good. The area was perfect! The layout of the house was great! The outdoor firepit overlooking the water was amazing! Buy firewood at Publics. The pingpong table in the open livingroom where everyone hung out made the week for our group a blast!! We rented a pontoon boat and docked it at the house for the week. The Twin Rivers Marina was near. No need to trailer the boat. We drove it through the river, right to the house! Note: When docking the boat, tie it loosely so there is slack for the boat to pull away from the dock as low tide approaches. Otherwise, the boat will get hung up on the rocks right along the dock. If you want to take your rental boat out during low tide, use the aluminum ladder in the garage to tie to the dock so everyone can climb down to get into your boat. It enabled my 80 year old mom to make every trip we took to watch the family fish and swim with the manatees! PERFECT!

wonderful snowbird getaway from the cold winter weather!

3 week stay & this recently remodeled home met expectations. Very comfortable furniture/beds. kitchen: large island & nice appliances. Hubby loves to cook, so nice to have large prep area! Weber gas grill is HUGE plus! We are big nature lovers, so being on the water was GREAT! very lucky to see manatees & dolphins! There are all kinds of birds: bluebirds, cardinals, mocking birds, catbirds, ospreys, ibis, night herons & more! glad there was a screen porch, as we had a couple of days dealing with seasonal no seeum bugs, but the screen porch allowed us to “be outside” when we wanted. Very comfy patio furniture 2 chairs & love seat & enjoyed all meals on the bar height dining set! Another big plus: this home has a garage. Other rentals we have used in the past have not. Very nice if a bad storm or if raining when unload/load your vehicle! Another important thing for me is how walkable the area is:due to a physical disability from a car accident, I need to walk daily to keep my mobility. The area is beautiful, & a lot of it is wooded. VERY friendly neighbors. If you want to do some cooking/grilling, be sure to check out the local fish Crab Plant, Seafood Seller and if you want to drive a bit further, Shelly’s Seafood in Homosassa. Because this home is really close to “downtown” you don’t have to drive far to go the restaurants on the water. Our favorites were Crackers, Tipsy Tarpon, & Crab Plant’s restaurant.

Nice Location & space

Location was great (very quiet & peaceful neighborhood) & getting into the house was simple. We had a few issues with the heat (yes the heat, in Florida lol), not working correctly, but communicating w/ the owners was easy & they were very prompt with their communication, supplying space heaters (even had 2 delivered to the house asap) and had the HVAC tech out immediately, and the issue was fixed! Some of the bed linens did not appear to be cleaned, however speaking w/ the owners we resolved this issue quickly too. The rest of the house was very clean, well organized, well stocked on towels, kitchen had everything we needed to cook all our meals, and the ping pong/pool table made family time a lot of fun!! TV worked & the couch & chairs were comfy. We didn’t use the kayaks due to it being very cold in January, but we did utilize the fishing poles- so much fun! According to the neighbors, there are occasional manatees & dolphins who visit the cove/pond!! Bathrooms were very clean too (even supplied with good toilet paper lol). The 2 back bedroom beds were a bit on the hard/firm side. There were some extra blankets in the closets which was nice to have. The outdoor screened porch was such a nice & clean space, we wished it were warmer for us to use this space more! The grill worked great, and there’s a nice little firepit too! Our family of 5 enjoyed our stay!!
