This spacious rustic log cabin is tucked away off the main road. You drive down scenic roads while enjoying lots of deer, geese, turkeys and an occasional bear. The cabin sits on a five acre tract, that is located across from the New River State Park. The large open area in the backyard is manicured all the way down to the river. There is easy access to the river with a sandy beach area. The scenic river can be enjoyed from the spacious covered deck. Let the river lull you to sleep or help you find a sense of zen. The cabin has five bedrooms, three baths and two dens with three levels to spread out. The cabin sleeps twelve with nine beds. The cabin is cozy and feels like being at Grandma's house. The cabin is close enough to enjoy the new river bike trails, hiking, Shot Tower State Park, Draper Mercantile and Trading Company, Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre, The Boiling Wilson Hotel, Claytor Lake, Fort Chiswell Animal Park, Big Walker Lookout, and Dixie Caverns. Come stay in the quiet while enjoying the wildlife and the peacefulness and sounds of the river or explore local attractions.

What a great cabin! Amazing views of the river and a ton of outdoor space. Booked the cabin as a home-base for our golf trip and it served to be absolutely perfect

Marty was an excellent host - I had to message him a couple of times and he was very responsive! Our trip overall was wonderful! I wish there had been more pictures/info on the kitchen so we could have better prepared! Be sure to bring PLENTY of paper products of your own as Marty suggests!

The house was beautiful. Exactly as pictured. We had everything we needed during our stay. Very family friendly. The only thing that was kinda a set back was the WiFi it didn’t work at all on any of our devices. My family raved about the house and the view is absolutely stunning. Thank you!

Cozy Cabin with a View

Our group had a great time staying here! We were a group of 7, the house was cozy and we enjoyed the back porch both rain and shine. The kitchen was well furnished and we liked using the fire pit at night. Would recommend for families too!

Home was as described and comfortable. River access is great. I would recommend bringing or buying tubes for floating in the river while you are there.

River Cabin Getaway

Family, friends and kids all had a great time playing in the calm river beach area, tubing the mini rapids, playing kickball in the HUGE yard, catching fireflies, cooking smores, grilling out and many more wonderful memories! The owners were very attentive and helpful!

What a beautiful home in a beautiful location. The drive is a bit rough as the roads are not paved and it is very dark if you are arriving after sunset, but I've been to many cabins in the mountains and I can say it is definitely worth it! Teaming with wildlife, deer, geese, hawks and a river full of fish. We had three familes together to celebrate my niece's wedding. Definitely check this cabin out!! Saving Grace will not dissappoint!

We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. Ample amount of utensils and plateware for our visit. Unit was very clean, beds were comfortable, gamimg sytem (WII) was provided along with board games. Plenty of outside rockers and table and chairs for family use, Tv's in all rooms (streaming only). Hot Tub on the lower deck was a plus. The property sits on the river with a stunning view, there was a little sandbar on the river that was used for folding chairs shich was very relaxing. A couple of minor negatives, The Grill on site needs to be replaced, we did buy a charcoal one at the walmart for our use, or you shoud bring your own. Being a pool and hot tub owner, I brought my test strips and some chemicals. The owner should check the balances pre-rental and apply chemicals as needed. I would highly recommend this unit and hope to return sometime this summer.

House is great. Very clean. Only minor issue was a missing queen fitted sheet for basement bedroom. It was late when I noticed, made do with a couple twin flat sheets, and worked well enough that it wasn't worth the time of calling it in the next day.

Nice River Retreat

Our favorite thing about this property was the awesome river access. The kids had the best time playing in the river and the huge yard. The house had plenty of space for two families with children. The owner was always quick to respond to any questions we had. I would recommend having a few more utensils in the kitchen and more towels/wash cloths for guests but overall this is a great place to escape reality and just chill. We truly enjoyed our quiet, secluded long weekend on the river.

Great Property. Loved the River View

This was a great place for us to stay for a couple of nights. There were plenty of bedrooms for 5 people. If we had brought more, there would have still been space, but rooms would have needed to be shared. The house was well equipped with most things that we needed to grill and cook with. We did have to get some more lighter fluid to get the charcoal grill going. I would certainly recommend this place. However, do make sure that you have a vehicle that can handle a few miles of dirt/gravel roads and can get up/down a fairly steep hill at the cabin.

The view of the river was amazing and the highlight! The cabin was fun, plenty of room for everyone, and cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed and it had several games to entertain us. The reason for the 4 star rating is the sound in the basement. They have metal on the ceiling, which looks good, but it was extra noisy when people were walking around on the floor above. I’d also recommend adding more towels to the upstairs bathroom to accommodate one towel per bed. We had a few people that couldn’t have come, but if they did we wouldn’t have had enough towels. All in all, we enjoy our stay.

Our group of six senior ladies enjoyed Saving Grace! After thrifting all day, we returned to the cabin for rest. The cabin and grounds were clean and accommodating. The cabin is decorated with treasures of the past. (That basketball hoop was the coolest!) There was plenty of room for each to have our own comfy bed and rocking chair on the porch. What a spectacular view! Wildlife was abundant but not pesky. We dipped our toes in the clean river as people floated by. You won't hear the sound of that river in the city! Makes for the perfect nap. We plan to return each year for the annual Hillsville Flea Market event. Thrifting at this event and staying at Saving Grace was a first but definitely not a last!

Beautiful River Location and Accommodating Host!

This house is situated in a gorgeous riverfront setting with a large deck that wraps around 2 sides of the house. Having 5 bedrooms and 3 baths was perfect for our large group coming for the VT Graduation. **please note - this rental doesn’t include sheets or towels so come prepared. The listing did not state this (VRBOs fault, not the owner) so we had a last minute scramble but the owner was extremely helpful and accommodating and got us squared away. The property is also close to the New River State Park - we could have spent multiple days there - playgrounds, fishing spots, hiking, and an awesome park store Marty, the owner of this home, is extremely responsive and is such a wonderful host! We are thankful to have found this wonderful place to stay!
