Step outside and let the lake set the tone for your adventure. Mornings are magical, best enjoyed with coffee in hand on the dock as the rising sun paints the water in golden hues. The waterfront at Castaways is designed for everyone to enjoy, with a perfect blend of accessibility and adventure. The zero-entry area provides gentle access to the water just 45 paces from the back door with no stairs from the house (dock is wheelchair accessible), making it ideal for kids, pets, and anyone looking to wade in with ease. Whether you’re dipping your toes in for a refreshing cool-down or launching one of the included kayaks or paddleboards, this area is a gateway to endless lake fun. For those who love to fish, the dock offers a prime spot with water depths of 5-6 feet, perfect for casting a line and reeling in the catch of the day. The expansive 18x6-foot lake pad adds another layer of fun, offering the perfect spot for floating, lounging, or splashing the day away. Plus, with a private boat ramp right on the property, you can launch your boat directly into the water, making lake access as convenient as it is enjoyable. Whether you’re fishing, swimming, boating, or relaxing, the waterfront at Castaways is the heart of your lakeside adventure.

When you’re ready to come inside, Castaways has just as much to offer. The fully stocked kitchen makes preparing meals a breeze, and with two spacious living rooms, there’s plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. The upstairs game room is the ultimate hangout spot, complete with air hockey, foosball, a pool table, and a selection of board games for friendly competition. Just off the game room, you’ll find two cozy bunk rooms, perfect for kids or anyone looking for a playful retreat after a day of fun. For your convenience, the home also includes a washer and dryer to keep everything fresh during your stay.

Security Camera Disclosure:  We take your privacy very seriously.  However, this home is monitored by exterior security cameras in the following locations:

Pet Policy:  We know what it's like to have dogs that are part of the family, so we welcome well-behaved, fully housebroken dogs (limit 2). All dogs will need to be registered on the Lake Gaston Vacation Rentals site, and they must be supervised at all times or in a crate if home alone. Please respect our home by keeping the dogs off of the furniture, inside and outside.  It is the owner's responsibility to clean up any pet waste. There is a non-refundable pet fee of $250.  No cats please. 

Septic System:  The house, like 99% of all lake homes on Lake Gaston, uses a septic system.  This system is a finely balanced biological system.  Please help us keep it working flawlessly by flushing ONLY toilet paper.  Renters are responsible for any damage caused by misuse.

Navigating the Lake: Bow-Riders and deep draft Wake Board boats need to check their Hummingbirds to ensure adequate depth in all coves.  Pontoons should have no issues and everyone is welcome to tie off at the dock with rental boat.(make sure to bring your bumpers!). Be sure to lower your bimini top when going under bridges or through culverts.  Appearances can be deceiving!

Smoking Rules: Absolutely no smoking inide the property.  If there is any evidence of smoking, you will be asked to leave and will not receive a refund.  Smoking is permitted outside and at the boat house.

Trash:  Trash day is Tuesday.  Please bag all trash and place it in the outdoor receptacles for pickup. We also provide concierge trash service, which means that if you have an overflow issue during your stay, we will pick-up the excess trash! Just give us a call or text.

Parking:  There is plenty of parking to accomodate a maximum capacity of 10 people.

Life Jackets: Guests are asked to bring their own life jackets to ensure safety and proper fit for everyone.

Boathouse: Quick note here for our boaters...the lifts are not available, but you can tie off at the dock.  Water depth at the end of the dock is approximately 5-6 ft. deep.

To get you started...

Bathrooms: Bathrooms are stocked with courtesy hair dryers, travel-size soaps and shampoos designed for quick "off the shelf" use.   Each bathroom has a roll of septic-friendly toilet tissue as a starter with extra toilet paper in the cabinets!
Kitchen Items:  Kitchen is stocked with 1 roll of paper towels, a couple trash bags for the kitchen trashcan, travel-size dish soap, a couple dishwasher pods. We do not provide condiments. You are encouraged to bring whatever you feel you might need beyond the courtesy items provided.
Linens Provided:  Linens & towels are charged as a fee with the rental, and will be available at the home, safety-sealed, at the foot of each bed. Each guest is provided bath towel and a washcloth as part of the linen package. Guests will find their bath towels folded on each bed. Note: We do not provide beach towels or dock towels!
