Films en plein air disponibles (trĂšs cool - films en plein air Ă  cĂŽtĂ© du foyer un soir d'Ă©tĂ©). The house was very nice and clean. It is well stocked for all kinds of situations. I had a family gathering and this home was wonderful. I thought I had enough life jackets for all but I was one short and there just happen to be an extra in the ski room. The kids and adults enjoyed jumping off the dock into the water. The fire pit was great to get everyone calmed down so they could watch a movie and go to bed. The only thing we did not get to try was making some popcorn so hopefully next time.

Perfect lake house to accommodate a big family. Host provided all the comforts of home for adults and children, and left us needing nothing more. Will definitely book again next year!

We loved being right on the lake. Plenty of places to sleep with more than enough towels, sheets and pillows. Hot water heater went out while there and Mike had a new one installed in no time. Children enjoyed all the different pool tubes and floats. Thank you Mike for a nice family vacation.

We had an amazing stay! Mike our host really made sure it was a home away from home! Everything you could possibly need and then some is there! There were so many different games, movies, books and things to do that kept 8 kids entertained the whole time. We had such a great time i made sure to book for next year before we left.

Great Time!!

The house was cute and quirky and had everything we needed! It was clean and well stocked with sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, lake toys and floaties, books, movies and games. And the popcorn machine was a big hit with the kids! Mike was an excellent and responsive host. Would definitely book again!

Great property

This property was simply amazing
 great location, easy to find, and very accurate to the pics if not better! We went with a family of 10 and had everything we could possibly need! Grill, tons of beds and linens, plenty of bathrooms and kitchen supplies! We fished. Had a fire. And just hung out! Used the projector to watch the Kentucky Derby! Was very pleased with our stay and would love to come back when it’s warmer!

Family vacation

The house had lots of places to sleep. One bathroom super small another bathroom was a little bigger than the 3rd bathroom was much better. The kitchen very small and everything out dated. The whole house really needs an update. When we first got there the house smelled like cat pee but that did go away. The outside had lots of room for everyone. Wonderful views and great dock to jump off and dock a boat. Fire pit was great. Overall it was great. Lots of books and board games and plenty of Towles.

Family vacation

We had a great time at Mike’s place. We have a large family and had plenty of room for everyone. It was a very relaxing place, just sitting by the water and fishing. If you like shade, there is a yard with trees and lots of spaces for parking. Mike was a great host and helped us set up an outdoor movie, which was fun. If you have a boat, you will love the set up. We didn’t have a boat, but we still had a blast. One day at the amusement park, which is one of my favorite places in the world, another day we drive about half an hour to France Park, which was a wonderful state park with waterfalls, hiking, fishing and swimming. They have scuba diving, too. The taco place down the road that is on the water has amazing food! We went there twice, The kids liked floating and swimming off the pier and playing euchre on the picnic table. The house is like visiting grandparents at the lake when I was a kid. It’s homey and not so “perfect” that you are afraid to live in it.

Another great time at Mike's Place!

This has become our go-to for an annual summer trip. Like hanging out at the cool Uncle's place. Has everything you need on site. Swim off the dock, lounge in the yard or by the sea-wall, relax around the firepit and watch the water. Close to everything; Indiana Beach, boat rentals, real grocery stores, even Wally-mart. Margeritas while kicked back in a float chair anyone? Blenders in the kitchen waiting on you! Want a burger? Grills just outside the door. Kids getting restless during a rain storm? Fire up the theatre room! Great all round stays every time!

4th of July to remember

We had the best time! The house has everything you could possibly need. We had family and friends come by during our week long stay! It was the best! We didn’t utilize the outside theater but next time we will! The house was clean and well stocked. Being right on the lake and having access to a boat dock was perfect! We spent our days and most of the evening boating. If we could give more then 5 stars we would!

Family Lake Vacation with Boating/Skiing

This property worked well with our family group of 10. We had 5 adults; 4 teens and 1 10-year-old. 3 bedrooms for the adults; the media room with flexible futons for the teen girls; and another room with futons for the 2 guys (1 teen and 1 10-yr-old). We set up a folding table in the open kitchen for more dining space. The 3 bathrooms were great with plenty of towels for daily showers and plenty of hot water! Outdoor space was great with 2 docks, boat ramp, fire pit and much more. My husband's grandparents had a cottage on Lake Shafer when he was growing up and this place helped us create the same kind of memory-making opportunity in 2024 that my hubby had when he was a kid. We spent 1 day at Indiana Beach Amusement Park and would highly recommend! The host was very attentive and was quick to respond to questions. It was a great stay... and we would seriously consider a return visit!

Family gathering

The kitchen is small but extremely well stocked. The house is very clean but dated. Air conditioning and ceiling fans worked well. Very quiet neighborhood. Excellent internet service.

My Aunt, who was affectionately known as "Aunt Gee", purchased this lake property back in 1965. Thirteen years old at the time, I was absolutely thrilled. I was equally thrilled when I took over ownership in 2013. The "Lake" has always been a very special place for me and I'm thrilled that I can share it with you.

I have two homes that sit directly on the lake, I stay in the smaller one which is known as the "Boat House", there is actually a boat house underneath it. You will stay in the larger home which is actually two cottages that have been connected, formerly known as the "Big Cottage" and the "Guest House".

I spend about half of my time at the lake, I also have a home in Jefferson Park on the northwest side of Chicago.

Quiet lakefront community, very rural around here. Amusement Park is five miles away. The lakefront yard is nicely secluded between the two buildings.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

There is a concrete boat ramp on this property, very convenient for launching a boat. Large 8' x 16' floating pier with 120' concrete sea wall. Indoor and Outdoor Movies, Indoor theatre with ceiling mounted projector, 6 foot pull down projection screen and surround sound system. Unique outdoor theatre experience available, does require good weather conditions and projector set up, 100 inch by 160 inch outdoor projection screen is up all season. Both projectors can connect to the internet for NetFlix etc... and will play DVDs as well. You might want to consider bringing your laptop or tablet which can in most cases be readily input into the projector. Popcorn maker, makes great movie style popcorn. Firewood included, I keep a good supply of firewood on hand. I know what a hassle it is to find firewood while on vacation, Some folks bring their own which is always appreciated but don't worry I will always have plenty of firewood. Note that this is a year round rental with reduced rates during the off season. Scenic here all year long, after all you are located right on the water.
