THE FOUR WINDS COTTAGE är söta bungalower belägna höger över gatan från havet vid Mile post 17. 5 på Beach Road vid 8310 S Old Oregon Inlet Rd i härliga South Nags Head.

A fine place to stay

This house is fine- nothing more, nothing less. The furniture is fine but there is too much of it for the space so not everyone can fit at the table for a meal. There is one and only one roll of toilet paper and no coffee or coffee filters or cooking oil or anything other than salt and pepper. It is close to a public beach entrance but not a lot else. The tiny postage stamp of a yard was a fine place to let the dogs out one last time before bed but too small for anything else. It was clean and the kitchen appliances seemed new and were easy to use. The washer and dryer take up an absurd amount of space in such a small house.

Loved our stay!

Would definitely stay here again. Me and my grandma stayed here for a 2 night Xmas trip and it was perfect. It was so cold we stayed inside and watched movies and slept all day.

Nice little place

Nice little place for small family to stay. older home but the amenities and furnishings are all updated and clean. Outdoor shower is great and hose to clean sand. Easy walk to the beach and short drive to shopping and activities. Will stay again :)

Such A Great Getaway!

This is our second year staying here, and it continues to be the perfect getaway! It's an ideal spot to bring our dogs, with easy access to the beach, and the peaceful, quiet surroundings make it a true retreat. The place is always spotless, well-maintained, and equipped with everything we need for a relaxing vacation. We couldn't ask for more and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tranquil, dog-friendly escape by the sea.

Amazing

Perfect cottage across the street from beach access. Watched sunrise every morning, location near excellent restaurants and activities. Extremely clean and outdoor shower is my favorite!! Also added bonus to be able to bring my fur baby and she has her own fenced in space.

Pleasant convenient house

This house is small, not fancy, but comfortable and informally decorated. Everything works, and the kitchen is new. I booked last minute after another trip fell through. The owner was very helpful in getting this done quickly! The house is at ground level--absolutely no steps if you have (like I do) a bad knee. The beach is just across the road and a dune--you can't see the ocean but there is easy access. Close to a lot of things! I had a nice couple days there. I found the combination dog-pooping area and picnic table/grill odd and unappealing. Maybe dog owners would see it differently!

Relaxing

The cottage was great especially with our 2 dogs. The yard was great to let them into for play & doing their “business”. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. The only issue was the mattress on the queen bed was too soft & you tend to roll to the middle. The walk to the beach was easy & crossing street wasn’t bad as traffic was light. We will be back!

Perfect space for a family getaway

We had an absolute blast staying here. Great location with easy access to the beach. Property was clean and well-maintained. Was planned as a group outing with multiple families also renting other units, and did not disappoint. Looking forward to returning!

Perfect house for two retirees with a dog. We had been to several and this was the BEST!

We like to take extended get-a-ways with our Service Dog and have tried several in OBX. My husband has MS and we look for easy access, no steps, fenced in yard and screened porch. This had it ALL! We will definitely be returning to Four Winds #4!

Short trip

Our group have visited the OBX areas two - three times a year for over 49 years during the summer. This trip was a last minute decision and first time in March. We were blessed with mostly nice weather. Stayed in Winds Four #4 cottage and found the cottage very cozy, clean and relaxing. Only one night did we have problems with a group in house nearby who started with a very loud party and music around 11:00 pm that went solid until 4:00 am the next morning. However, that is not the fault of the company that we worked with. Rentals on the Ocean had everything at the cottage in perfect condition and were very easy to work with.

Perfect for a family of 3 and 2 dogs!!

We were just looking for a small place, close to the beach, with enough yard for 2 dogs and this cottage was perfect. The price was very reasonable and the location couldn’t have been better. The fenced yard was the true selling point, though! And it came in handy, as it rained for 3 of our 4-day stay, lol. We were able to let the dogs into the yard to do their thing and not stand in the pouring rain, ourselves. Comfy couches, great kitchen, surprisingly spacious bedrooms…it was great!

perfect getaway at OBX

We really enjoyed the stay at the cottage, the place was spotlessly clean, and have all the appliances and amenities to enjoy a relaxing time at the beach. close to the shoreline, in a quiet neighbor. The fenced area for my 4 leg family member is a plus

Perfect fit for us

The house is an older house, but very clean and had absolutely everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. The location is great and we had our fur baby with us. The little fenced in back yard was more than adequate for him to be able to go out when he wanted. The furniture was comfortable and in great condition. The mattress on the bed was also comfortable. We don't have anything negative to say about the experience. Thank you

I am the Property Manager for Sarah E. Forbes MD, Trust.

Our Founder, Dr. Sarah Forbes passed away in 2011. (Picture above). She was a compassionate physician, dedicated to her patients becoming Norfolk General’s first female chief resident of OB/GYN.
In 1958, she became the first female physician to open a private OB/GYN practice in Newport News, VA.
Dr. Forbes was the first woman to be selected to the board, and the first female president, of the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula, where she was honored as a member of the “Wall of Fame” – the first and only woman to be so honored in the club’s 65-year history.

Sarah was often honored for her contributions to the organizations she served, and the community she loved.
Among her many awards were the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities’ Humanitarian Award in 2007, and the Medallion Award which is the highest recognition presented by The Boys and Girls Club of America to volunteers.

She served as president of several community organizations that include the Virginia Peninsula Academy of Medicine, the Newport News Chapter of the American Cancer Society, the Newport News Medical Society, and the Peninsula Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Her generosity benefited many organizations, including the Cancer Society, the Newport News Medical Society, the Peninsula Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Family Planning Council, First Baptist Church of Newport News, the Peninsula SPCA, Mariners’ Museum, Riverside Hospital, and Christopher Newport University.

We are continuing Dr. Forbes’ Legacy
All of our vacation homes are owned by Sarah E. Forbes MD, Trust which continues her legacy by using our profits to make regular donations to the charities she loved.
We take care of the houses like she would have wanted.
