The batteries were dead for the deadbolt so it took over 20 minutes to get into the house (at 11pm when we arrived). That was frustrating but the staff was very responsive and helpful and didn't stop until we got in! Life happens, thankfully we got in the house and they fixed it on Monday.The location was PERFECT! The house had everything we needed and was great for a family with kids and adults. The dryer made an awful noise but we were warned it needed to be looked at and told it was safe to use, it was just loud (like nails on a chalkboard). But we figured out how to make it quieter (less clothes less noise).Overall, I'd recommend this home to anyone wanting to stay at Folly with their family! We love the houses on the beach and would gladly stay here again!

There were several issues with the house - worst was the dryer that squealed so badly that we could not run it while in the house. House moves a lot in the wind. Icemaker not working. Deck in very rough shape and gave the kids splinters. Pots and pans super old and teflon scratched. The power went out during our stay and we tried all of the phone numbers for emergency maintenance. We didn't get through to anyone. No help.

Folly house

Overall, the stay was very nice. One concern we had was part of the deck had been replaced and nail heads were sticking up right at the doorway entrance, and there were two steps that had broken loose. One bathtub drained very slow. The door code didn’t work, 5 different codes were sent to no avail finally a representative was sent over. Fortunately one of the doors was unlocked so we could gain access or our 79 year old grandma would have flipped her lid. It all worked out.

Loved the home and location. Folly Beach is so peaceful with not too much commercialization but close enough to Charleston if that is your thing.

Beachfront Hideaway

Great location which was secluded from the crowds. Beautiful beach, perfect for walking or running at high or low tide.

Family spring break

We are regular Folly-goers and love the property location. It is so convenient and on the quieter end of the beach. The house was not entirely as pictured. There was no outdoor lounge furniture as pictured. The outdoor dining table was broken, but there were three plastic chairs around it. Cleanliness wise, there was mold and slime under the sink and mold in the air vents. The house could use a refresh. The location and proximity to the beach was definitely the best part.

A Birthday Celebration We Won't Forget

This property was an excellent choice for us. It was close to the beach, as well as local restaurants and shops. We visited Charleston during the day for some sightseeing and culture but looked forward to returning to a Cool Place to take part in what it had to offer. We cooked during our stay and it had everything and more that we needed. There were card games, board games, and books...nice size tv's to watch, and a huge deck to hang out on. The property was clean and we really enjoyed it. We would definitely stay again.

Sweet Spot

Once we got electricity on the 2nd day everything was perfect as we expected. We hadn't expected to have a community power outage when we arrived and stayed in a hotel for the first night. The owner nicely refunded our hotel expense. Right on the beach with beautiful sunshine.

Wonderful week

This house was the perfect size for our family of 6. We loved being right on the beach. The house was clean. The living room furniture was comfy and there was plenty of room to all eat at the table. Loved having the keurig!! The mattresses were not very comfortable. The deck only had 3 regular chairs, nothing for lounging. The deck was rough and had nails sticking up. It also felt like you might fall through in spots. Some boards need replacing for sure. It would have been nice to have extra blankets. The dryer squeals terribly. Overall, it worked for the week and we enjoyed ourselvesourselves very much.

Good but has so much potential to be great

Our family of 6 just stayed 4 days/3 nights. First off, the location is 100% with booking again…that being said, there are things that need updating. If you are looking for a 5 star rental…this isn’t your place. If you are looking for a spacious family friendly older house in a GREAT location…this place is for you. I read other reviews & agree that we did see bugs in the bathroom every night. The welcome book addresses this & gives you a number to call to have some exterminators come by but we were on the move too much to wait for someone. The bugs were my biggest complaint. I only ever saw them in the bathroom. The fridge worked great, the AC worked great & the back porch and walkway to the beach were in good enough condition that we didn’t wear shoes or have any problems accessing the beach. The air vents were gross looking, and there was stuff under the beds left by past guests but over all the house was clean. The house does sway a bit but nothing crazy. If this place had a facelift, it could be great. My second biggest complaint is the outdoor furniture. There were only a few chairs and they were just plastic ones. The wood table is falling apart but worked for setting drinks on. The doorknob to the door that takes you to the carport needs to be replaced…we fought with it more than I care to admit. Overall, we would stay here again…can’t beat the space & beach access….period.

The location was superb, right on the beach. Loved the house but it was very tired looking. Needed some work done. Was disappointed because there was no furniture on the deck so you could set on the deck and enjoy the view. Was saddened because we couldn’t stay our whole time due to tropical storm Helene.

Older place and not updated

This home serves its purpose. We enjoyed the screened porch, the closeness to the ocean, and local eateries. The water pressure in the showers was great. The house was as clean as could be. There are problems as this is an older home. There was mold on the vent directly above the kitchen sink. There was also mold above the shower stall in the bathroom to the right of the entry to the house. That bathroom also has tiny roaches in it that we saw every night. The house is very damp. There was a broken Adirondack chair on the deck. It said in the included items that we would have a bottle of hand soap in each bathroom. Each one had about 1/8 inch of soap in them. Also, empty bottles were just thrown under the bathroom sink. The dryer squeaks loudly which was just an annoyance. The dryer worked fine. This house sways A LOT. I know this is a city issue but the restructuring project on the beach has left a 2-3 foot shelf that you must climb up and down to get to the water. This was not pleasant. I like the end of the beach we were on because it was very quiet. A couple quick trips to Charleston was very fun!!

Great place to stay

LOVED how it was right on the beach. Plenty of room. We stayed outside the entire time. The screened in porch was amazing! I would say there needs to be more outside seating since there is a table outside. I’d wear shoes outside of the screened in porch. Porch needs some tlc due to being weathered. Other than that, we will be back Turtle Watch!

Great place, a little TLC needed

Location 5stars! Away from the crowded part of the island which is what we desired. House is a bit older and in need of some TLC such as dining room chairs. We had a party of 8 but only 5 chairs so some had to eat at the bar or on a bar stool. Deck chairs were adequateat best. the ones that weren’t broken when we got there didn’t hold up to much use and they seemed to be the inexpensive Adirondack chairs that were bought at a dollar store. One suggestion would also to label the switches throughout the house and there were some we couldn’t figure out what they did or the bulbs were out (dining room chandelier only had 2 working bulbs) Pots and pans need to be replaced due to them being old and warped. Would I stay in this place again, absolutely. Just hope they fix the thing ha that need to be fixed.

We made the best of jt

This property is in a great location. If you are looking for a fancy, updated beach house this is not for you. The fridge was broken and we were told we would receive a mini fridge but unfortunately we did not. Hundreds of dollars of food was spoiled because we did not realize it was broken until it was too late. This place has A LOT of potential if all of the amenities are working properly.

Great trip!

Pretty standard, basic beach house that is a great value compared to many of the huge, overpriced houses popping up. Good location right on the beach. The public beach access made the beach busier than our normal trips, but we never had an issue with anyone. Had some minor issues with an overflow of trash from the people before us and a malfunctioning microwave, but the property manager addressed both within 2 hours of us notifying them. We visit Folly every summer and would definitely consider staying here again.

Very Nice beach

The walkway and stairs to the beach are in total disrepair and not accessible! That was very disappointing. I could only find 5 forks! This is a 4 bedroom house. There is a table on the screened in porch, but no chairs that work with it.
