Välkommen till Fernwood Cabin i Deep Gap, hem för Doc Watson och hans son Merle. Bluegrass fans vill utan tvekan besöka våren för Merlefest som har hållits varje år i april sedan 1988 till ära av Merle. Njut av denna pittoreska stuga reträtt perfekt för att utforska Blue Ridge Parkway och närliggande Boone. Denna mysiga, intima stuga passar perfekt för ett par eller en ensam resenär. Ett välutrustat kök öppnar till ett vardagsrum med öppen spis. Den krökta trappan leder på övervåningen till ett stort öppet loft med queen size-säng, skrivbord, tvättmaskin / torktumlare och pulverrum. Fönstret sits med utsikt över innergården vinkar för att koppla av med en bok. Utomhus kopplar av på verandaen med solnedgången över dammen eller på den privata gården i badtunnan eller vid eldstaden.

Perfect get-away spot

This is an amazing property! Every amenity you could need, all plainly laid out. Super clean and completely cozy. My only regret is not booking a longer stay.

Perfect Weekend

Amazing host and beautiful location!!!

Diane is an incredible host. We stayed here for our 5th wedding anniversary and absolutely loved it. The cabin is perfectly secluded in nature but is a short 15 minute drive to lots of restaurants, bars, and shopping as well as hiking. What else could you ask for! There were plenty of guides and recommendations provided by the host as well. 10/10 !

cabin getaway

We really enjoyed our stay! The cabin is beautiful inside, just like the pictures. The kitchen has everything you need and more. We enjoyed cooking the things we got at the Saturday farmer's market in Boone. Was fun to sit and sip wine in the evenings on the front porch, and on the back patio. Diane was very responsive and so kind.

Phenomenal Cabin

This beautiful cabin is fabulous! The amenities are great! Very clean! Everything in working condition! Coffee pods provided for the Keurig! Linens particularly the bed linens were luxurious & clean! Everything is designed with comfort in mind! The hostess responded quickly to any questions! The hot tub was phenomenal!

Perfect location

This place is a perfect location if you are exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway. It has a great patio complete with a hot tub, grill and firepit. Wonderful after a day of hiking! We loved the homey touches such as a coffee bar and book recommendations. The kitchen was well stocked and communication with the owner was prompt and helpful. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Great cabin

My wife and I came for 3 days over Thanksgiving. Cabin was very clean and had everything we needed and more. Coffee station with several kinds of pods, even had coffee beans and a grinder. Also had hot chocolate bar and smores! Comfortable bed and the hot tub was a perfect end to the day. The owner, Diane, was fantastic. Quick to respond and very helpful. Definitely coming back.

Perfect Mountain Retreat

I fell in love with the cabin when I saw it online, and it absolutely didn't disappoint. We spent all week talking about how much we would love to just stay forever. I went to ASU and was looking forward to visiting Boone and seeing how much the decades have changed it (goodness has it changed!!!). I was glad we decided to stay in the cabin instead to get away from the hustle and bustle of the now busy busy busy college town. We were close enough to spend all the time we wanted in Boone and Blowing Rock... but far enough away to feel like we were in our own little world. We've started a mission to visit every state... but we both said we would make an exception to book this storybook cabin again. Oh! Neither of us sleep terribly well... but between the quiet cabin surroundings, the mountain air, and the comfy new king-sized mattress we both had our best sleep in ages!

Perfect getaway cabin!

Diane's Fernwood cabin is fantastic! Beautiful cabin with fantastic and secluded space nestled behind. The host has thought of everything - at least everything we could think of. Convenient location for anything you might want to do in the Boone and Blowing Rock area. One of the best spots ever for unwinding!

Wonderful Experience

The cabin was exactly as described. It was super clean, well stocked, and the host went above expectations with a number of “little things” that you normally don’t get. She was very responsive and had ample instructions! The back patio with fire pit, grill and hot tub were awesome. The front porch allowed for some great relaxation as well. Close to Boone and Blowing Rock made it a great launching pad to visit wonderful sights and restaurants. It’s very close to entrance of Blue Ridge Parkway too. We highly recommend this place for a relaxing getaway! We will definitely return!

We are a woman owned, family run business, Kradel's Kabins LLC, located in Mooresville, NC just north of Charlotte. My son William, and my daughter Heather, work along with me to provide cozy vacation rentals in Boone, NC. Moving to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2009 from Pennsylvania it didn't take long to realize how close we were to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. We purchased our first cabin, Laurelwood, in Boone in the fall of 2016 and we enjoyed hosting so much that we have since purchased two additional cabins, Fernwood in the summer of 2017, and Tanglewood in the fall of 2017. Currently we have a tiny home under construction that we anticipate will be ready for guests by fall of 2024! We hope to enrich the vacation experience of anyone visiting Boone by making their stay in Laurelwood, Fernwood, or Tanglewood (and soon Wildwood) a memorable one.

Our first cabin property, Laurelwood, was such a hit, first with ourselves, then our friends and family, and finally with our guests, that we searched for a second property. We found Fernwood in nearby Deep Gap and became intrigued with the history and musical story behind Doc Watson and Merlefest as well as the close proximity and easy access to both Boone and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We figured we found yet another property worth sharing with our guests.

Fernwood is a simple log cabin yet the quality features stand out. The fireplace, curved staircase and window seat in the loft give a cozy feel. The private back courtyard is perfect for a glass of wine in the evening, relaxing in the hot tub, or a cup of coffee in the morning warmed by the fire pit.
