What a revelation! We were willing to go anywhere in the Caribbean but needed a place that was family friendly (we have a 10 and 8 year old, and a 4-month old baby). We needed the right blend of comfort and adventure and CasaIguana and Bonaire were perfect. Ron was super helpful in getting us set up for the baby, complete with crib (pay a little extra), high chair, etc. The place would not be great for a toddler (no railing against ocean) but was perfect for us - our older kids could snorkel off the back deck, while the baby rested calmly with us or inside. There was a very nice snorkel beach very close by (we called it the '30-second beach' because it was that close). The big grocery store had everything we needed (for vegetarians, babies). Our biggest concern was privacy, but in the end one of our best parts of the trip was meeting and getting to know our neighbors upstairs. We adored having wind-surfing lessons, going to the Donkey Sanctuary, and exploring the National Park. We would only warn against lizards that want to eat your lunch. We also enjoyed Klein Bonaire for snorkeling (and "1000 steps" - another great spot). Great gelato spot downtown, and some nice crafts downtown when the cruise ships dock. Overall, a wonderful house and a great spot for a family vacation. We would definitely return.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Casa Iguana was the highlight of our 25th anniversary vacation. We stayed at three locations on Bonaire over our 3 week vacation and had our children, ages 18 and 20, with us for 8 days. Part of their stay was at Casa Iguana and the first thing our son did was check how deep the water was and then did a running leap off the back dock in the deep area. Casa Iguana is the first floor of a two story house and it has a great layout: sunken living room, dining area and open kitchen all in one big room overlooking the back patio, and then two bedrooms and two large bathrooms down a hall. With the breeze blowing from the front of the house, we felt very comfortable with the back doors open with just the screen doors. Each of the bedrooms had A/C which we used at night. The place had everything one could possibly need for cooking, for listening to music (I-Dock), beach towels, washing machine, clothesline, scuba gear cleaning area and hangars, etc. We were very impressed. The owner even offered a small Christmas tree and lights to set up which we did set up in the living room. My husband and son dove out back. The entrance/exit steps were a little bit tricky, but other than that it was beautiful! Casa Iguana is located across the street from Roomer Rest which was very good, and had a nice atmosphere. For scuba diving services, such as tanks, weights, boat dives, we used Carib Inn and were extremely pleased as always. We hope to return some day and would recommend Casa Iguana to everyone!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

The accomodations are wonderful !!!!!!!!!!! We really enjoy staying @ Casa Iguana. We will be back in December & there was not a question on where we would stay. Ocean front is the only way to stay. Staying on the South side of town is perfect for divers. The majority of dive sites are South and only a few minutes away from the house. Dive intervals can also be spent back at the house in comfort. Grocery store & gas station are also really easy to get to. Roomers is just across the road if you want drink/food. Enjoy!!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I just returned from a week on Bonaire where we stayed at Casa Iguana. Everything was fantastic and just as described. The house had all the comforts of home and Ron was great. There are tons of birds on the property to watch while sipping your morning coffee and marveling at the view of the ocean while planning your day! If I am lucky enough to return to Bonaire I would definitely stay here again. We did 11 dives during our week-long visit and found that diving right behind the house (Chez Hines site) was just a good as any and very convenient as there is water entry right from the house - perfect for the night dives!! There is a dive shop right next door but we chose to dive with Div'Ocean located a short drive away, located inside Divi Flamingo resort. They gave us a good deal because we were staying at Casa Iguana and they were super nice and laid back about tank refills and dive information. This dive shop has a good vibe and since you are driving to different dive sites each day it is convenient to just drive on by Div'Ocean to swap out your tanks. We had great dinners at It Rains Fishes, Capt. Don's Habitat and Unbelievable and lunching at the last beach bar at Lac Bay was awesome. If the cruise ship is in port - stay at Casa Iguana and dive at Chez HInes for the day to avoid the madness :) Thanks Ron for the Bonaire hospitality!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Dive Ocean is located at Caribbean Court only

The place really looks like on the pictures, especially the view is breathtaking! You can go diving directly from your own property (there's a ladder), btw the divesite in front of the house is really great as well (even saw seehorses). There is plenty of room for 4 people in the house but we spent most of the time on the beautiful terrace. The house is euqiped with everything you need, dishwasher, washing machine, cuttlery, spices, huge american fridge with icemaker. Once a week the house will be cleaned professionally and also you get new towels, sheets, etc. Ron, the Owner is really nice and helpful in case you have any questions or something in the house needs a fix. The house is owned by 2 differenty people (upper floor, lower floor), so you will share parts of the terrace with the people from the upper floor (if there are guests at that time). We (2 couples from Austria) have spent 2 weeks at casa iguana in September/October and would definitely recommend the place to our friends and family.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

After many years staying at Buddy's, etc, we discovered Casa Iguana. Wow! Perfect for two scuba diving couples to share the cost. Right on the water with a sunset view, the Villa is huge, with all the amenities you could want including AC in both big bedrooms, a brand new refer, dishwasher, clothes washer, big covered deck outside plus a built in BBQ! And even better, there is a dive shop just next door at the Belmar Apts! Super easy for tanks and you can dive off their dock with zero hassels. Sweet! We've stayed with Casa Iguana for three years running and will be back again next year!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We have stayed at villa casa iguana for 4 years. We stay for 2 weeks. The house is well kept, with all the amenities for a Carribean vacation house. The location next to Belmar Dive shop is very convenient and we have had great dives right off the dock. We get along with Ron great and he often visits the property to make sure all is well. It is helpful if you purchase ant spray at the grocery store. We have spent time alone and with friends. One year we rented the upstairs and had lots of people. The accomodations have usually worked out well. One other suggestion, The beds are queens and this year there was not additional bed in the front room. So, sleeping 4 is really a max.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

The beautiful pictures do not do this property justice. A wonderfully spacious place with great vistas, a fully stocked kitchen (including spices, oil, and a great refrigerator), and very effective air conditioning (when it was rarely necessary). Water so calm our neighbors were able to take their baby in (just as described) and access to a first-rate dive shop next door were a dream. The place was wonderfully laid out and very well kept, and the manager was always available for questions and to make sure everything was just right. If you want the peace and quiet of the island life in a first class private home ... very quiet and convenient to many attractions (with a car). Private parking and a private sunset ... this is your place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: What can we do more!!! Thanks
