Good location but with leaky roof!

Two adults & 2 children fit comfortably...would hate to confine more people in same space. A heavy rain one morning had water pouring in through the bath and hallway electric light fixtures. Manager investigated & said a plugged drain on the terrace above caused the problem; however peeling paint in the bath makes me think that has happened more than once. No extra towels were provided to replace those used to mop up the rain water. We inquired about a clothes dryer before booking...clothes dryer is a portable drying rack...NOT an electric or gas dryer. Drying sometimes took 2 days. Plan accordingly. Apt was clean, but sofa beds were past their prime. Street noise kept the children awake @ nite until we moved them to the kitchen-dining area sofa bed. Good street maps were available for finding our way around. There were DVDs available but satellite TV did not work. Wi-Fi connection was reliable. Bus stops were 1/2 block away as were ATM machines. A pharmacy and grocery store were very nearby as was a book store and several good restaurants, a fresh fruit stand and gelato shop. Metro stop was also close. The walls were thin between our apt and the one next door. We could often hear a baby crying early morning.

Owner response:I'm very sorry for your inconvenience, my City Manager was always available to help with any problems, maybe you didn't contact her? During your rental an exceptional heavy rain hit Rome and many other towns in Italy. As You could read on all italian newspapers most areas was flooded. The terrace over a small part of the flat was flooded too and a little water drop to the flat. Of course this was an exceptional event. The paint damage will be restored in the next weeks. The flat has also special glazed windows to avoid any noise. TV Sat is working and extra towels can be provided on request, please ask my City Manager next time. Clothes dryer is not an electric o gas dryer but only a portable drying rack. Clothes Clean Service is available on request. In this historical building walls between the rooms are about 1,2 meters thick.

Wonderful location!

Esedra Flat was perfect! After arriving by train, we easily walked to the flat. The location is convenient to all of Rome. It has a nice kitchen and two bathrooms! We walked everywhere. A special treat was the beautiful church "St Paul Within the Walls" which is across the street. We attended 'La Traviata' and a wonderful concert there. Nicola was very helpful with directions and also arranged our Vatican Tour . The flat had everything we needed and was very, very clean and safe. We would recommend this flat and owner.

Owner response:Thankyou very much for your Review, if you come again in Rome, please let us know in time, you can have a Special Price as Preferred Guest Best Regards Franco & Nicola

Excellent Location in Rome

Guest: American Family living in Cairo (Cairo, Egypt)
Date of Stay: 04/09/10 Review Submitted: 04/23/10

We stayed at the Esedra flat in April 2010 and had our best family trip to date. The location puts you in the heart of Rome and near most of the major sites: the Trevi Fountain, Coliseum, Forum, Victor Emmanuel Monument, Pantheon and Spanish Steps are all less than a mile away and very accessible by foot. Additionally, the metro station is two blocks away making the Vatican a quick and easy 15 min journey and the hop-on-hop-off tour buses run from the same area. We traveled with five kids (6 months to 10 yrs) and found the flat comfortable and roomy with enough amenities to keep the kids occupied after a long morning of walking to the sites. The flat is ideal for families - walk around all morning, come back and make dinner, then go out in the evening - all without burning out the kids. In case of emergencies, there is a McDonald's on the corner for the kids, and an Irish Pub across the street for dad - perfect! Nicola, the site manager, was very professional, competent and accessible, giving the traveler the comfort of knowing that they are being well looked after. Highly recommended and looking forward to returning. (PS - the site says "Dryer" - it is not a clothes dryer, but a hair dryer)

A very pleasant stay in a clean, large and modern apartment. Good situation and easy to reach. Better than a 4 stars hotel, of course.

Six nights in Rome with our five year old girl

Guest: Miami couple with 5 yr old daughter (Miami, FL, U.S.A.)

This flat is completely renovated and is on Via Nazionale in well cared for building. You reach the apartment through a large double exertior door that is on Via Nazionale. There is a large common hall with an attendant during normal hours (good security) After walking 20 ft on the left is one flight of stairs to walk up. There is no elevator. If you have lots of luggage be aware. It was OK for us, and our 5 bags . The interior is almost spotless. The kitchen is newish, well equipped but lacks a microwave. The manager said she was going to get one soon for this unit. There is plenty of hot water and the air conditioning was excellent. There are one and a half baths, new and modern. The Internet access was a huge plus. The unit gets access through a Linksys wireless G router and uses a public IP address ( make sure your firewall is on ) and utilizes a high speed connection. I worked remotely using Windows Terminal Services and we used Magic Jack to make calls and it worked as if we were in Miami. The furnishings are a bit sparse. There are two large pullout couch / beds and one pull out bed / chair, plus two single beds in the main bedroom. My wife and daughter slept on the single beds, and I slept on the pullout couch in the 2nd bedroom. My wife indicated the single beds were very comfortable for her and our daughter. I am 6'3" and 225 lbs, and the pullout bed was king sized, but not too comfortable. Plenty of pillows and linens. I slept with lots of room, but with my sore lower back it was not ideal. The windows of the unit are right on Via Nazionale and face the Episcopalian church "St. Paul's within the Walls" one story off the street. They are new, excellent, open two ways and offer excellent views of the street and very quiet when closed. We slept with a sound machine at night and heard almost nothing from the street below. The area is convenient to the Metro station ( 200 yards east) bus transportaion, a grocery store 200 yards west, and a drug store 100 yards west. There is a very nice bookstore 50 yards east, banks and tons of shopping right there. It is very convenient to use the metro to get to the Spanish steps, Vatican, etc. Finally, our property manager Nicola was A+++, very friendly, responsive, English and spoke Italian fluently. She was waiting for us at the apartment on our arrival to give us a thorough overview. She is available by phone anytime and even arranged our cab for us when we left.

My husband and I had a delightful stay in May of 2009. The apartment is LARGE, architecturally elegant, and is in a wonderful location. The manager was more like a concierge -- for example, she booked a cab for us to get to an early morning plane.
