Come stay with us on your next trip to Ashland, Oregon. Home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Southern Oregon is known for its natural beauty, cultural activities and many outdoor adventures.
This log cabin lodge was built and shipped to Oregon by one of the premier log home builders in Montana . We were looking for the true feel of the west . Some of the more common comments from our guest. ' Just 30 minutes drive from Ashland and you feel like your in the middle of Idaho's wilderness. ' Its like walking into a Sunset magazine article with all the cabin decor '. The large river rock masonry fireplace offers a great area for sitting, relaxing and conversing with family and friends. The log dinning room table will easily sit 10 . We have an outside cottage for those wanting a little more privacy . It has a gas fireplace. Flat screen TV , and Queen bed. The master bedroom has a log queen bed with a antique claw foot tub and sink in the room. There are a number of good dinning establishments for those wanting a night out without having to drive to town. My other cabin can be found at VRBO listing # 326005

What an amazing and memorable family vacation! We chose this cabin as a reunion spot for our family from California, Georgia and the Portland area. When we told our kids that we would be staying in a log cabin they were apprehensive. As soon as we walked into the cabin they thought it was great. The fire was very cozy, we loved playing the many board games, the kids enjoyed running around in the open field and exploring by the water. We did travel to Ashland and to a local Winter Fest but all were happiest at the cabin. It truly is a perfect place to be with your family. When we arrived home in CA my son told me as I was putting him to bed that he wished we were back at the cabin.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.
Owner response: I was hoping your family would have gotten an early snow so that your family could have experienced the magic of winter at the cabin. The kids love the sledding hill close by and building snow caves in the yard. I am happy to report that we will be having a white Christmas . We received 2 ft last night and should get another 2 ft by the weekend prior to Christmas.

A week spent at the Lake Side Lodge was enjoyed by all. (even three "big city" teenagers) It was a welcome escape from the hot valley temperatures. Even had a little rain shower one night. The canoes were in use most every day and a boat rental on nearby Howard Prairie Lake brought in a multitude of fish. (all released) Good swimming too. Having two sets of washers and dryers was a real plus as was the annex bedroom. The suggestion to do last minute shopping at Ashland should be followed because while things are available at Howard Lake, the price is considerably more. Also if one needs a daily paper they are available there. The cabin is well equipped and is a great place to stray.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.
Owner response: Thanks for your review. It will help future and potential guests with their visit. Adding the second washer dryer was to help our housekeeper with the back to backs. Nice to see that it came in handy for you as well. Howard Prairie does fish better this time of year, when the days get this warm the fish need cooler water to be active. Nice you let them go. Howard Prairie's store is expensive but they have most of the basics . It should be noted that they do have great root beer floats worth every penny.

Curry Cabin more than met our expectations for a beautiful, serene setting for a family vacation. We had anticipated having a family reunion there, and it’s perfect for a group, with volleyball net, horseshoes, and boating just out the back door. But due to family illness it was just our immediate family, and the cabin met that need as well—while spacious it has a cozy feel that works for any number. Favorite parts of our stay: morning walks along the lake, which shimmers in the light, seeing deer and a plethora of birds every day, sitting on the deck with the aspens quaking in the breeze. Our 12 year-old daughter is the one most adamant about returning next year. To our surprise she loved the quiet—and it helped that there were terrific root beer floats and DVDs to rent at Hyatt Prairie Resort just 5 miles away. My only request would be to have directions to hiking trails available in the cabin. But Randy was more than willing to give directions by phone.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.
Owner response: We have had a number of guest book both cabins for reunions, A group just finished their stay and had a great time. The were so thankful to be in the mountains at the cabin while us in the valley were dying from the 100 degree temps. I am so glad you got to take advantage of all the hiking spots we talked about . I am somewhat reluctant to publish them all as they are my favorite hikes. I kind of screen the guests to make sure that they are not going to be the type that would not appreciate the hikes. I am always glad to talk with my guests. Being a born native of Ashland I do have a wealth of knowledge of the area. Thanks for the review. Randy

What an awesome snow covered Easter vacation we had in the Curry cabin! The cabin was homey , comfy and large enough for our family of 7 with a terrific loft for our boys. Everything we needed was there from a Washer and Dryer and laundry detergent to DVDs and board games. The Lake front back yard was truly the most memorable. Tons of snow , and a gorgeous view of the lake and mountains. My Husky was kept busy patrolling the yard making sure the tens of dozens of ducks and geese stayed on their side of the lake! :) Dont forget your snow sleds like we did because the Snow park was ust a 15 min walk away. We had fun there just sliding on our bums! We weren't out of Ashland before my kids were asking if we could go back next year.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners.
Owner response: My kids now in college still talk about the days our family spent on holiday at the cabin. It is a place where memories are made. Were happy that we can offer the same experience to our guests. We sorry that we cant offer sleds but our insurance does not allow it. So don't forget your sleds, cross country skis and snow shoes.

We just concluded our yearly family reunion visit with our California cousins at Hyatt Lake. We were a group of 4 couples (no kids). The location was outstanding, right on the shore of Hyatt Lake and, on this trip, a winter snow fall. A couple of comments about the cabin. The kitchen was well equipped and very serviceable, and the living room area also was very commodious and capable of making our group of 8 very comfortable. But we would take issue with listing the accommodations as 3 bedroom/3 bath. To our way of thinking, there were only 2 full baths available in the cabin. The sink and tub in the ground floor master suite with no toilet should not be characterized as a bath. And the outside unattached bedroom had no bath facilities whatsoever. To stay in that bedroom and contemplate bathroom use in the middle of the night would have required steps across the yard in the freezing cold to the main house. Also, although equipped with a TV, we could not obtain a satellite connection to the dish in the main house. In the end, we decided not to use the unattached bedroom at all, which necessitated 2 of our couples to be bedded in the four singles in the loft. Not exactly luxurious. For a return visit of our group to the Ashland area, we will look for more traditional bedroom accommodations, each with their own bathrooms.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with young children.
Owner response: Were sorry that these guests felt mislead about our bathroom configurations. We do offer a great experience with a wonderful setting having said that, it is a cabin and not a luxurious hotel. Had they informed me that they needed a bathroom for each couple I would have referred them to Ashland Springs Hotel.

I was very impressed with the cabin and its surroundings. I will and have recommended this place to all of my friends. It is perfect for families with children and pets. There was so much to do at the cabin we never even made it to the lake. The views were spectacular. My favorite part of our stay was having my coffee on the deck and watching the mist roll over the lake.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.
Owner response: Nice to hear that you had lots to do . One of the most commonly asked questions from potential guests is "what is there to do" ? My reply is to relax and enjoy the peace and quite.

Curry Cabin is a treat to visit, not only for the location on beautiful Lake Hyatt and it's proximity to Ashland, but for every detail designed for a guest's comfort and relaxation. The cabin is roomy yet feels cozy and has an ambiance that speaks to the beauty of the woods and nature. The creative detail in the furnishings and artwork is obvious from the minute you enter the front gate to the moment you step out on the deck to enjoy the unobstructed lake view. It's a jewel.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.
Owner response: A lot of thought and heart went into the design of the Cabin , We appreciate guests who see all of the details . We spent many years collecting all the antiques making certain they went with the cabin. Being a builder of 30 years this cabin with out a doubt is one of my best projects Thank you for your kind words . Randy

We went up around the end of March and had fresh snow everyday. The cabin was beautiful and as advertised with the exception of the hot-tub, which was out of order. Everything was clean and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. We didn't get out much, just went out in the snow. The drive to Ashland was about 35 minutes, but in the summer it might be a little faster.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, pet owners.
Owner response: We have had such a hard winter that we lost the Hot tub due to freezing . That being said the guest had come for snow and boy did they get it . We must have gotten 3 ft while these guests were there. Their kids made the best of it and made a great snow cave. The snow makes the experience complete especially if your looking to go cross country skiing or sledding . Randy

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1991
About the owner: This is not really me but it is my son. It was such a great fish that I had to show it . I was born in Ashland in 1951. My grandfather used to bring me to Hyatt lake every summer for a week of camping and fishing. When I was on one of my bike rides from Ashland I noticed a for sale sign in the grass that appeared to have been there for a long time. I jotted the number down and thought what a great place this would be should it still be for sale . As fate would have it it was . After many years of remodeling rebuilding etc. I thought what a sham that more people don't get to experience Hyatt lake as I did growing up. That is why we offer this experience for you, your family and friends.
Why the Owner Chose Ashland:
It offers so much to do and is a great escape from the heat of the valley in the summer months. The cross country skiing , hiking, biking and just the remote feeling of its location . Its 1/2 mile from the Pacific Crest Trail.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Rest and relaxation. A great place with clean air and water. Don't bring bottled water , as the water in the tap is as good as it gets. Watching the sunrise over the lake while having your morning coffee on the deck or sitting in the fire pit looking as stars or go for a canoe on the lake , It doesn't get much better than this. Don't forget you bike, rides are great both mountain and road. For those wanting to see Crater Lake there is a back rout taking you into the East entrance. It's a drive you won't want to miss. If you are into bird watching my biology professor counted 210 different species of birds from the front deck.
