About Antea Rood

My father and I are avid travelers, athletes and adventurers whose love for the outdoors, design work and the arts have landed us in the beautiful town of Ashland. We are originally from the green mountains of Vermont and have both lived all up and down the west coast and Colorado mountains for 12 years until at last, we found a place to call home.

My name is Antea Rood. I have traveled the world for the last 10 years and called 6 places home in the west coast. I live part time in Ashland having a blast managing our luxury properties and playing in the outdoors part time and spend the rest of my time on the beach of Santa Monica where I have a healing practice.

After spending years traveling, studying interior and exterior design, permaculture, organic farming and the healing arts, I knew that I wanted to create a luxurious eco-friendly place where people could escape the stress of everyday life and renew themselves in a beautiful setting while enjoying the performing arts, outdoor adventures, ongoing classes, galleries, healing retreats, wine tasting and all the other magic the mountains, lakes redwoods and ocean that Southern Oregon and Northern California have to offer.

My father, Dudley Rood, is a designer, builder, artist and incredible athlete who loves the mountains and adventures. After building high end homes all over the east coast and Aspen and Vail Colorado he moved here to be in a place that had it all. Dudley passionately fully renovated this 1908 craftsman home to be luxurious and eco-friendly. His attention to details is shown throughout the property and the love for this project is reflected in the space.

We really went all out with this project and are very excited to provide a historic, luxurious accommodation, loaded with amenities, in the heart of Ashland.

Antea Rood purchased this apartment in 2012

Shasta, Mt. McGloughlan, Oregon caves, redwoods or the wild oregon coast - you will find something everyone will love.

Gorgeous, spotless with everything we needed!

  • 5 of 5

Antea was so accommodating with my questions and my allergy to down. She made sure all of the bedding was down free and even offered to remove the couch cushions. The Oberon rental is even more beautiful than the pictures and my husband and I did not want to leave!! We cooked our entire trip and the kitchen had everything we needed. The bed was so comfortable and this is the cleanest rental I've ever stayed in. Spotless without an ounce of dust in sight. We cannot wait to come back here!

Comfortable, convenient, quiet

  • 5 of 5

I met a childhood friend in Ashland for a few days of theater and hiking. Oberon was a lovely place to stay. The owners were thoughtful in knowing the needs of their guests and we found the time there very comfortable. I would certainly stay there again!

Wonderful 2 day stay

  • 5 of 5

Although we had a small hiccup getting into our room, it was handelled easily by pushing doorbell and getting in touch with resident manager (we didn't know to do this). This place is compact, 1 bedrm, with small kitchenet, and laundry room in basement. It is impeccably clean, 2-3 blocks away from Shakespeare theater and downtown and with a very nice local manager. We will stay there again next year. Highly recommended.

Amazing - I'll never stay anywhere else

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Second Spring. From the start of the booking process until we departed we were totally taken care of and happy.

The location cannot be beat, it's close to everything but the garden is quiet and peaceful....the amenities like the private parking, soft sheets, shower, and kitchenware are such a treat and the garden is spectacular and a beautiful place to have dinner or drink your coffee in the morning. They have thought of everything from start to finish and we could not have been more pleased with our stay. Despite there being three units in the house, each is totally private and the soundproofing is amazing. We never heard a thing from the others onsite.

I'll also say we had our three month old son with us and I was touched that they remembered that comment during the booking and have a travel crib for us even though we had not asked and I had mentioned the fact he would be with us 6 months before we arrived!

We are already trying to pick a week next year and have told our family they need to join us!

Thank you Second Spring! This was our first trip with our son...I was worried how the whole thing would go and your fantastic place made me feel immediately like it was going to be easy being away from home!

nice apartment and great location

  • 4 of 5

The apartment was perfect size for a couple. Very comfortable clean and relatively quiet. Nice garden in the back. Everything worked, internet was fine, and there was AC. This was as very nice during the warm summer week (high 90's).

The kitchen(ette) was a bit more challenging as there was no cooktop. They did provide two induction burners and these worked pretty well but they required that the vent be turned on, and we discovered this almost by accident. So some explanation here of how to us this small kitchen would have been useful.

The location was really great, several blocks from all downtown attractions. This made experiencing Ashland so much easier and allowed us to see much more of this town. We could walk to the plays and park in 5-10 minutes

Great little place, we will come again
