Are you someone who appreciates and wants to show others the beauty and tranquility of this amazing, relaxing piece of heaven? Do you love the sound of a stream from any open window in the house? Come stay in our quiet, clean getaway! We LOVE it and know you (and your children or grandchildren) will too.
It is a 1200 square feet retreat, and has been detailed to make your stay comfortable and memorable.
The house itself has two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a living room with two futons -- all totaling two queen sized beds, two full sized beds, and two twin beds. The kitchen is fully equipped for any meal, fresh ground coffee, an apres ski treat, or family barbeque. The kitchen table sits six, with room for three more at the breakfast bar. The house sits on more than an acre, which lends itself to short or long walks, enjoying both the stream (which runs year round, and is just yards from the house) and the pond, smelling the fresh mountain air, sitting outside and reading a book -- or doing some artwork!
The nearby town of Salida boasts many activities: art galleries galore, indoor hot springs pool, bowling, hatchery, lakes, biking, hiking, fly fishing, white water rafting, winery, live theatre, dining, pubs, summer and holiday events, horseback riding, go-kart riding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling . . . . Do all of that -- and then -- come back to our hideaway and watch wildlife, walk around the pond, have a glass of wine by the stream, play horseshoes or badmitten, read a book, take some pictures, see a movie, cook a feast, listen to music, and sleep to the sound of the Cherry Creek right outside your window. We have books, movies, satellite TV, DVD and VCR capacity.
This is a year-round playground! Summer hikes, winter moonlight snowshoeing (snowshoes provided for three), mushroom hunts, and fall color photography. There is never a bad time to visit.
For parents and grandparents: Know that there are books, toys and games, a pack-n-play with crib sheets, bathroom step stool, and booster seat for a little one!

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2001
Grant and Tanya are thrilled to be in Colorado! We live in the Denver area, and love bringing our two small children up to the cabin for weekend getaways. We use the cabin whenever we get a chance, but we also enjoy sharing it with other families!
Why the Owner Chose Salida
We found out about the Salida area when Grant started working at the hospital there. He came home and announced to Tanya that she would love it there, and sure enough, on their first visit there together, we made an offer on the cabin. Here we are, eight years later, and we still think of this little house in the woods as one of our favorite places on earth.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
One of the best things about this cabin is the water! The stream and the sound of running water is truly relaxing. The house is clean, comfortable, and perfectly located for the many activities the Salida area has to offer. It is perfect for a family, an adventurer, an artist, or a reader. Salida is a slice of heaven, and we know anyone who spends any time there would agree!

We enjoyed our stay emensly! We found everything very clean, comfy, organized, and a wonderful place to relax. Our three children (14, 12, 10 yrs. old) couldn't get enough of the stream and hot tub. The stream was our families favorite thing to do at the cabin. We were amazed that the stream was so cold even in the middle of the summer. We also enjoyed sleeping to the sound of the rushing stream. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed a few selections from the book and dvd library. We also enjoyed the use of the grill. Tanya was very helpful and even checked in with us to be sure that everything was great. The Royal Gorge was aprox. a 45 minute drive. (A very beautiful drive along the Arkansas River.) We even saw a family of mountain goats along the way. We made wonderful memories in a wonderful setting. We hope to return in the near future!

My husband & I really enjoyed this cabin. The running creek and pond were very relaxing. Although we only live 1 hour from the location of this cabin, it was a great place to get away for a couple of nights. The cabin was decorated beautifully! Tanya was a wonderful host.

We had such a wonderful trip and by using your home as our base, we were able to see the most beautiful parts of Colorado! We met the most interesting people, relaxed in the hot tub, shopped, relaxed in the hot tub, hiked, relaxed in the hot tub, went fly fishing, relaxed in the hot tub and just loved every part of your home. We thank you for sharing your part of heaven and will forever cherish our memories of the Colorado Rockies 2010!

We rented from three different VRBO rentals on our recent trip to Colorado, and this house was far and away our favorite. I loved it from the moment we arrived. It is tucked away in a very secluded wooded area, and upon entering the house, I was impressed immediately with how welcoming and "homey" it felt. The house was very, very clean, the sheets and towels were pristine, and the kitchen was very well stocked. Tanya was also great at having everything organized and described. I felt like I knew where everything was. The house is also really cute and inviting inside. The decor, family photos, etc. made us feel like we were staying at a friend's house rather than in a rental. All three of my kids loved the place, especially the creek, the hot tub, and the really cute kid's room. Finally, Tanya was very nice and helpful at every stage during our rental. I really thought her hospitality was refreshing, and we are definitely planning on renting this house again!!

My family had a wonderful time at this cabin. It was perfect. There was alot of snow but still very beautiful. The cabin had everthing that you needed to feel like you were at home. We enjoyed the hot tub and lit a fire every night. My girls had a blast outside hiking around we can't wait to come back in the summer so we can enjoy more of the out doors . You are tucked away in the mountains but still close enough to Salida to eat and find other things to do. The owner was very friendly and helpful. I would deffinately recommend this property. Enjoy!!

The cabin is very well equipped with a great kitchen and very clean. The setting is tranquil and relaxing by the stream. Salida is a great town with wonderful art galleries and close to several hot springs. We liked Cottonwood Hot Springs the best.
