Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, 6 Sleeps Comfortably

Relax and enjoy the Salida scene. Perfect House to visit for those who want to enjoy the slower pace of life and/or Salida. Due to the antique nature of the property, it is not recommended for young children.

This 110 year old home has been entirely remodeled with attentive care to re-use the original molding where possible. The two-bedrooms sleep six. The upstairs bath includes a claw foot tub and shower combination. The lower bathroom is a shower only. The kitchen was re-modeled in 2006 as we popped the top to make the ceilings 10 feet tall. It includes a customer hand made, wood topped island. New carpet in 2014. Back deck added in 2008 and is wired for sound. Totally re-landscaped in 2007. Laundry facilities on-site. Huge deck under a large tree for relaxing the afternoon away.

Perfect getaway stay in Salida

  • 5 of 5

What a sweet home this is. Decorated very nicely and loved the antique feel to the house. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed to fix meals and the location to downtown is perfect! I am very particular in a place being very clean and this one was immaculate. I would say that the only thing someone would not like maybe is that there is not a bathroom in the master, but it is right outside the door and another one down the stairs. It did not bother us and would stay here again. Thank you Doug and Leanna for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Plenty of other places to stay.

The cottage house is wonderful. Great location, clean and well appointed. My review is 1 star because of the owner, Doug.

We were refunded our security deposit within less than 24 hours, which was excellent. I received a note from the owners thanking us for our stay and extending an invitation to come back (which we would have gladly accepted). On April 11th (9 days after our stay), I received a note from Doug requesting a check for $75 for drywall damage that was caused by a chair. We were not provided details as to what room, which chair, etc. When we requested timestamped photos showing that we had caused the damage, Doug declined to communicate further. My husband and I have stayed in many rentals and own one ourselves and understand the importance of quality customer care, as well as caring for someone else's property. If we had believed for a second that we had somehow caused the damage, we would have been more than happy to pay $75. If you plan to book this property, be sure to take photos to protect yourself from having to pay for damage someone else caused. Bottom line, Salida is a wonderful place and there are other options.

Owner's Response: There is a lot of fabrication here in this review. First of all , I do allow pets and on an occasion will allow more than one dog but Elizabeth brought three dogs and simply avoided telling me about any dogs at all so she and her husband could presumably avoid the small $45 pet charge! The drywall was damaged in the green room and not only was it damageD but an antique rocker (I assume the piece of furniture that dented the wall) had a leg broken. Part of the nature of short term rentals is trust. Honestly, requesting before and after "time stamped" photos of a wall. Who would have those. Last I knew, attorneys were well-paid; we asked for $75 when 1) they avoided the pet charge, 2) they broke the antique rocking chair and 3) they damaged the drywall. Fellow VRBO owners: BE AWARE OF THE DONOVANS!

Comfortable and cute

  • 5 of 5

Charming little house was perfect for 4 friends for a weekend. Easy walking distance to the main downtown area. Location was quiet, the house was well-stocked, clean, and the beds were comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Cozy Cottage House

  • 5 of 5

This was my third time staying in this lovely Cottage style house and it always feels like home!

It's a short walk to Town, shops, good food, walking Trails, dog Park... and a short drive to ski or many other outdoor activities!

The owners, Leanna and Doug make themselves available to answer any questions and requests. A wonderful Vacation Home! , for couples and families.
