My sweetie and I spent three days at the Cacita for my birthday and absolutely loved it. The pictures, as spectacular as they are, do not do the site or the lodgings justice. Even though we live nearby, we felt we were a world away. The owner was wonderfully helpful and personable, and arranged a private wine-tasting for us at the winery just down the lane. The winemaker himself toured us through the process and his amazing wines. Make sure you get a taste of Villa Vallecito's gorgeous flavors. Bottles are available for sale in a wine cooler in the casita. The property is beautiful, to say the least, and well-maintained. We had the place to ourselves and enjoyed the seclusion and breathtaking views. Everything was beyond lovely, but I want to note that the heater is much louder than we are used to. Not a big deal to most people probably. If you are staying at a cold time of year and are light sleepers, just be prepared with ear plugs. The full kitchen is small but first class, with everything you need except food. The charming town of Murphys is a short drive away and lots of fun, but I'd recommend provisioning up front in case you find it hard to leave. We sure did! We'll definitely be back.

What a find. This is a place where part of the vacation experience is waking up early and soaking in the ever changing views as the sun and clouds roll over. Overall the place is well appointed for a nice dinner and relaxing background music. An ipod hook up would be nice. The land is so beautiful and pulled us in for a walk around the vineyards and a nice run on the local roads.

This was a "last minute" trip for us and Ghee, the owner, was so very accommodating especially since her vineyard was harvesting her grapes and she was very busy! The "casita" was well maintained and beautifully decorated. The views were amazing......Lake Melones on one side and the vineyard on the other!! We woke up to birds singing while they were bathing in the patio fountain (so cute)! We had a beautiful grey squirrel drinking from the fountain daily(even better) and we had a deer in the yard just outside the kitchen window.....what could be better!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be back. We stopped by the "main" house on the way home to say thank-you to Ghee and we got a private wine tasting and wonderful and interesting conversation outside by the pool. Great wine and we bought two bottles of the white!! No pressure to buy but it was just too good to pass up!!! Thanks again Ghee....your property is georgeous and the views are breathtaking!! Looking forward to coming back!!

Absolutley amazing location and gorgeious home. Great place for a relaxing and spending a quiet weekend. Great amenities and well appointed. Wake up to the sun rising over the vineyards, watch the sun set and then the moon shine on the lake . These great views coupled with warm breezes, great wine and cheeses, made our stay truly memorable.

Do you love spectacular vistas, the peaceful sounds of birds singing, and a night of starry skies? Then "Mi Compania Dulce" is the place for you. We arrived for a birthday weekend in early August and had a fantastic time. This cozy getaway offers awesome, panoramic views of lush vineyards and New Melones Lake - as accurately described. We found a new favorite wine in Villa Vallecito's 2008 Barbera...thanks to a private wine tasting hosted by the winemaker. Night time is especially wonderful with the light of the moon shimmering on the lake and the crickets chirping. We can't wait to return. Highly recommended!

You may be planning to stay at this 5 star appointed cottage and sightsee from there daily, but do yourself a favor and bring your favorite grazing foods and drink and when you get there, take off your shoes, open all the doors and windows and toss your cel phones, Ipods and car keys in the bottom of your suitcase ! The kitchen is set up to have everything you need to relax and enjoy. Even if you can only spend two nights here , you will come away refreshed and rejuvenated. Cool breezes come up from the lake side and warm breezes come off the vineyards and lavender on the other side. You will wake to the sound of a fountain and birds each morning. Stretch out on the chaise lounges on the lake side and watch the stars - even the Milky Way. Eat your meals under the grape arbor on the vineyard side and you'll feel as if you are in Italy. You will not want to leave but you will certainly return again. We did and we will again, I am sure. And we only live 15 miles and a world away !

We just spent 9 days touring the Sierra Nevada mountains from Sequoia NP, King's Canyon, Yosemite NP, Amador/Calaveras Counties and the Lake Tahoe region. We stayed in various lodgings along the way, but spent the greatest two nights in Mi Compania Dulce. The villa is absolutely beautiful and exquisitely located at the top of the hill. The photos barely do justice to the accommodations and setting. Additionally, we were treated to a private wine tasting by the assistant wine maker for Villa Vallecito Winery, which is the working vineyard located adjacent to the villa. If you are contemplating a visit to the Murphys, CA or Amador County areas, I would highly recommend this listing. There is easy access to the many Murphys wine tasting rooms and the villa is an easy one hour drive to the highly acclaimed Amador County wineries in and around Plymouth. The owner was most helpful before and during our stay and was available by phone if we had any questions or concerns.

What a place! We enjoyed every moment at this gorgeous property that was as comfortable inside as outside. We felt like we were in Tuscany and enjoyed reading our books on the patio while looking at the stunning lake views. We also watched the stars at night and were so relaxed and happy the whole time we stayed at Villa Vallecito. Not only that, but we were lucky enough to participate in the winery's first wine tasting -- delicious! We can't wait to go back!

One of the most beautifull and relaxing places we have ever stayed. It was so spectacular, that we called up my brother and sister-in-law to come join us! When we decided to enjoy Murphys for our anniversary again this year, we didn't think twice of where to stay, Mi Compania Dulce is our first choice.
