This recently completed luxury holiday home situated on Rossmore Island, County Kerry is in a particularly beautiful part of "the Kingdom" as it is call in Ireland. It is between the busy and attractive market town of Kenmare and the idyllic colourful village of Sneem.

Rossmore Island, if you look at a map, appears approximately half way down the Kenmare River, on the northern shore of the Kenmare River.

This stunning coastal location looks over Coonagh Bay and up into the mountains and has a 360 degree view that constantly changes with the unique light that County Kerry produces. Access to the island is over a stone bridge and once you are on the island you can immediately feel the relaxing atmosphere of Kerry take over. Don't be put off by the term 'river' as the Kenmare river is 100 % seawater and opens up into the magnificent Atlantic Ocean.

The interior of the house as been designed to allow for two living spaces.
The upstairs area has a magnificent panoramic sitting room and bedroom with bathroom en-suite. It has a centrally placed gas fire that instantly gives the room a warmth and atmosphere. To sit up here and watch the birds, the mountains and the sea, between the chapters of your current book, is more than special.

Downstairs there is a Den/TV room with an open fire place great for those who need to catch up with news/sports or simply watch a movie.

The kitchen, which is superbly fitted out, and the eating area, is a very large open space and has a fabulous circular table that sits 10 comfortably for either a formal dinner or a relaxing late morning brunch. There are double doors that lead out from the kitchen to a wonderful seating area, which is great for breakfast, or your pre-dinner drink. What a view first thing in the morning too, breath taking.

By the way the house is not suitable for toddlers or children under 12/14 years of age.
Lettings are for a minimum of a week (7 days).

Whatever happens, we hope you enjoy your time at The Hollies.

Great Golf Vacation

Guest: four golfers (Godfrey, IL USA)
Date of Stay: 07/20/11 Review Submitted: 08/13/11

The two couples who were on a golf vacation in Ireland had a wonderful time using this beautiful house as a base. The house is terrific. The first floor has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds and are ensuite. The third has twin beds with the bath across the hall. This floor also has a living room with TV, the kitchen and dinning room and laundry rooml. The second floor has a large master suite with ensuite bathroom and a den. The house is beautifully decorated. We could have spent the entire vacation at the house; it was so pleasant. The house is located on the Ring of Kerry which gives you easy access to many golf courses. We bought the Peninsula Pass which allowed us to play Ring of Kerry, Dooks and Skellig Bay. We also played at Parknasila; this course is on a resort property on the road to Sneem. The course has beautiful views and the hotel is charming. On the days we didn't play golf we went to the Dingle peninsula and Killarney. The jarvey ride in the park is a must!

I have recently returned from Co Kerry and a most memorable holiday on the beautiful Kenmare River. The accommodation offering was brilliant. The views from all aspects of the house of the surrounding mountains and sea breathtaking. This part of the world is a gem and time truly stands still. it has it all Mountains, sea, most amazing almost tropical flaura and fauna. The Kerry way mountain walks are a must and local boat trips around The river to view the local life very special. The local town of Kenmare offers great restaurants, supermarkets and coffee shops. The immediate local village of Sneem with its brightly colored cottages and traditional pubs is unique. further down the coast one has some beautiful beaches.I would have no hesitation to recommending this beautiful property and The irresistible charm of Kerry to anyone wishing to visit.

We spent a lovely week at The Hollies in April; there hardly a drop of rain. The setting is just off the Ring of Kerry and is predominantlly pastoral/ agricultural, which appealed to us. There is varied wildlife too. The house is wonderful, comfortable, beautifully furnished, light bright and cheerful. Mornings can be spent having cups of coffee in bed while gazing out at the seals, otters and sea birds which populate the bay. The town of Kenmare and the village of Sneem are only a few miles away and are great fun to explore. There's a farmers market on Saturday's in Kenmare that should not be missed, one should stop in Kenmare on the way to the house to buy fish, cheese, pastries, olives bread and vegetables. The stove at the Hollies is a joy. A car is important and the roads are not for the feint hearted! We heartedly recommend this property for those who like a beautiful, rugged landscape and a real welcoming house. Great walks are all around too as well as golf and sea views that are pure magic.
