Why the Owner Chose Wilmington

Our first home was just a couple of blocks from this house. The neighbors are wonderful and the sights and sounds are refreshing. I love being able to stroll downtown and enjoy the Cape Fear Riverwalk after dinner. The festivals, the antique stores, the restaurants, and the frequent fireworks displays over the river always provide entertainment for our family and guests. There is usually a choice of live music venues and an excellent selection of local theater productions to choose from as well. We are glad to be able to share our little part of the world with others!

The Unique Benefits at this House

This lovely home is close to restaurants, shops, waterfront, museums, historic homes, etc. The Castle Street antique district is right around the corner, the public boat ramp is at the foot of Castle Street, the Wilmington Children's Museum is 5 blocks away. The many downtown restaurants and bars provide an exciting nightlife! The periodic fireworks displays over the river and the downtown festivals and parades are totally worthwhile. The UNCW campus is only 5 miles away and it is just a short drive to Wrightsville Beach or to Pleasure Island, which includes Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, the site of the battle of Ft. Fisher, and the North Carolina Aquarium. It is especially nice to be downtown for the North Carolina Azalea Festival festivities in the spring as well as for Riverfest in the fall. Most importantly, the view of the setting sun over the Cape Fear River from the front porch is priceless.

Owner's Map of Wilmington

My husband and I have lived in historic downtown Wilmington since 1987. Wilmington has been a wonderful home for us, our five children, our two dogs. and two cats. We enjoy boating on the Cape Fear River and in the waterway and sound, we bike downtown and meet friends at the many outdoor concerts and festivals, and we spend time surfing and sunning at the beach. I hope that our guests who stay in our downtown "get-away" will learn to love our area as much as we do!

Wonderful Accommodations

Guest: Ken (Santa Cruz, California)
Date of Stay: 04/06/11 Review Submitted: 04/20/11

When we heard that my niece was getting married in Wilmington my sister arranged for a group of us to stay at this location. We came from California, Indiana and New York, and we had a great time. We were there at the same time as the Azalea Festival so the whole city was in full bloom, and it was just a few blocks away from the parade and all of the festivities. The house was very comfortable and it suited us perfectly. We even had a BBQ on the back patio and hosted all of our family members who were not at the Groom's Dinner. The owner must have had a good time decorating, because every room was thoroughly appointed in very tasteful antiques and period furniture. She was very helpful and wanted to make sure we were well taken care of. I would definitely recommend this rental.

A Perfect Place for a Family Stay in Wilmington

Guest: Bev (Oakland)
Date of Stay: 04/06/11 Review Submitted: 04/20/11

This historic home was the perfect place for our family's first visit to Wilmington! It was charming, nicely decorated, and had plenty of comfortable beds and bathrooms for our group of eight. We hosted a terrific BBQ for family and friends one night on the spacious patio. The kitchen had ample cooking supplies and we put the dishwasher to good use. The location was great! We enjoyed walking to and from the historic downtown area and viewing other gorgeous historic homes in the neighborhood on the way. My family would love to return to continue our exploration of the Wilmington area and to stay once again in this lovely home.

Cozy and charming rental

Guest: NYCVisitor (New York, NY)
Date of Stay: 12/20/10 Review Submitted: 04/20/11

I found this rental online and my family and I rented it for the a week at Christmas time last year. The pictures supplied online of the interior did not do it justice. The amount of character, charm, antiques, warm, cozy character that the place had was amazing. It fit right in with my family. The layout of the space is also great, open but still separate enough. Also, the renter was VERY nice and very accommodating. She also genuinely wanted to help us have a great vacation and always gave us great suggestions on where to go shop, eat, etc. This rental was also pet friendly and there were dog bowls ready for my puppy as well. We all had a great time! I would definitely rent this house again and would recommend it very highly!

Owner response:Thank you for the lovely review, Karoliina! I'm so glad that you and your family were able to have a nice Christmas and that I could be of service. It is wonderful to hear that our home was appreciated and enjoyed. I hope you will be able to come again someday!
