  We stayed at Catherine's VRBO in Tulum pueblo for 10 days, and loved our time there. The house is exactly as represented in the photos, except they have a new larger table, and the downstairs room has shifted the bed. It is quite simple, lovely, and artistic. Catherine was fabulous in arranging our stay. I feel like we became friends on line, and we were both disappointed when they had to be out of the country during our visit. Our goal was to be in the town, and not with other Americans. It was fabulous to be in this beautiful little oasis, and surrounded by people who spoke Spanish. (Ironically, while at the beach we ran into several friends from our current town and hometown. It is a small world.) We would choose to stay in the pueblo again to experience the culture and visit the beach, especially in the nature reserve! The place felt very safe. Catherine recommended keeping the windows closed while gone, but that was to keep the cats out, as they like to visit. So did the neighbor's children! One of the best restaurants in town is just around the corner, El Camello, Jr. We also enjoyed Tacoqueto (sp?) just up the road. Both were full of locals, and had great food. We had a lovely vacation, and would recommend the home happily. Architect friends staying in the grass huts on the beach came by to visit, and they were jealous of the space we had! Yes, we were away from the beach, but we had full days out in the worlds, and then it was really lovely to come back to a spacious, clean home. The pool was clean and beautiful and set in a tropical garden. Sometimes we had to force ourselves to get out and go see the beauties of Tulum! All in all it was a lovely experience.

  My friends and I recently reserved this condo for 4 nights for our long weekend in Tulum. We truly enjoyed our stay at this property for the first three nights of our trip. The accommodations were clean and they had bikes for us to use to get around town and to the beach. This complex is at the south part of town and it is a dark walk home at night if you don't take a taxi. On our last night we came home to find that our condo had been broken into while we were out. The downstairs bedroom door was open, and our personal items were scattered and our phones and cameras had been stolen. It was around 9PM at night so were nervous that the people that broke into our house were still there. Our travel group only consisted of three women, so we did not feel comfortable staying the night and quickly packed up our items and left to find another accommodation for night. When we arrived at our new hotel we got our room and then emailed the owners of the condo to let them know what had happened. Since we were having to pay for another accommdation for the night, we asked them if we can pay them the balance for the third night but not for that night since we did not feel safe in the condo and had to pay for another place to stay. We were shocked at the response from the owners. They accused us multiple times of lying to them and fabricating a story about the robbery to get out of paying for the last two nights of our stay. The customer service we received was disappointing. After a phone call with them in the morning where they proceeded to accuse us of lying and repeatedly telling us how we handled the situation incorrectly (they would have preferred that we called them from the condo after we found out we were robbed and wait in the unsafe area until they arrived), they came to our hotel, demanded their money, accused us once again of lying and then left. We will not stay here again as the owners were unhelpul in answering and helping us with our concerns during our stay.

  Owner response: Hello Julie and friends, We just found out from our other neighbors at the other end , that indeed someone did go in to their house and robbed them as well. I would like to apologize for doubting you and also explain why. After your not emailing me, as instructed to let me know you had arrived , so I could come by and check you in and collect the balance. And then after not responding to 2 emails I sent asking when would be a good time to come by to collect the balance you owed. I also came by several times looking to meet you. The last night, I came by, again and left a note, even our neighbor stayed up waiting for you to arrive to notify me of your arrival. I finally went to bed not knowing anything about you or when you intended to pay the balance, and only knowing that you were checking out the next morning and that you had absolutely no communication with me, after several intents . Also we didn't understand why you didn't contact us immediately to notify us that you were robbed? We would have gladly come right away to assist you, as we are actually very good people! When we went 1st thing at 7:00 am to check the house , the back door was locked and there was no evidence of the door being forced open or broken . The lock was intact and functioning . The only way someone could have entered is from your leaving the door open. We feel really badly that this occurred . There have never been any break-ins in the house. We lived there for 4 years. I hope you can understand that the situation was not dealt with properly, on your part (not contacting us immediately when you discovered you were robbed) and your not responding to my emails, and leaving without paying . This left us thinking you left with no intent to pay us. We would like to compensate you for the last night. You actually owed us $271.34 and your friend gave us $270 and asked for $10 back. My husband gave her $200 pesos, which is $15. The nightly rental was $119, (with the 15% discount we extended to you) I will refund you a $104 , which we hope you receive it well.   We were surprised with this cozy house, and enjoied our stay in Tulum a lot more than the last time se were there in a All inclusive hotel, because we Felt like being at our home. Definitivly we reccomend this house if you want to have a great and confortable stay in the incredible Tulum!!

  VERY GOOD RESORT IN TULUM NEAR TO THE SEA AND NEAR THE CENTER OF TULUM ( PUEBLO) VERY MUCH RESTAURANT AND SUPER MARCKET AND FARMACY.

  We stayed here in March and the condo totally exceeded our expectations---it was spacious and comfortable with a beautiful shared courtyard garden and pool. Town was just a short walk away, and the house was located down a little dirt road that made everything feel very relaxed and quiet as well as very safe and secure. There are probably about 8 or 9 other condos that share the same courtyard, and our neighbors were very nice, with many families with little kids who would spend the afternoon after school playing outside around the pool. Kathleen and Hernon, the owners, live about half a mile away, and were wonderful about making us feel right at home. Hernon told us to call him if there was anything we needed, and he really meant it! When our car battery needed a jump, he came right over and got us going. It was just the two of us staying at the house, but with two bedrooms plus a futon on the mezzanine, it would be a great place for larger groups, and the value is simply amazing!
