WELCOME to the "Beachcomber" ! This lovely 4 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom Beach Retreat Cottage is ideal for one large family or two families that wish to share the cost. There are two master suites and each one has its own bathroom so that everyone can enjoy comfort and privacy. The house is just across the beach road to the sugar white sands of the Gulf of Mexico. Just a short 1 - 2 minute stroll is one of the prettiest stretches of white sand beaches along the Gulf Coast.
This home accommodates 10 comfortably - two king, one queen, two twins, and one queen sofa sleeper. Rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. Each bedroom has its own TV. The kitchen, dining room and family room are open, which is great for gathering without feeling crowded. The kitchen is well equipped with appliances and all your cooking and serving needs. The family room is very comfortable with a large TV, CD, and VHS/DVD player. Also, the house has free Internet service . There is parking for 2 cars.
Beach Retreat is right by Pompano Joe's Restaurant which is a great place to walk to in the evening. Destin has several nice restaurants at varying price points, a coffee shop, retail shops, and our kids' favorite, Fudpuckers, where you can feed the alligators. Bike rentals are also available in Destin. The community of Sandestin and Bay Towne Warf are just a short drive down scenic Hwy. 98 and is fun to visit.
We prefer to rent to families. We do not rent our house to students or young single adults under the age of 25 unless they are accompanied by an adult guardian or parent who remains in the house for the entire stay. Reservations made under false pretenses may be subject to forfeiture of advance rental payments and security/damage deposits. We love our beach house and hope that you will enjoy it as well and treat it as your own. We look forward to having you as our guest!
What to do besides enjoy our wonderful beach...
Should you wish to explore what the local area has to offer, you'll find an abundance of choices. Sidewalks line scenic 98 for walking, running or bike riding. We are a short 2 mile drive to the Silver Sands mall to the West, or luxury shopping at Destin Commons to the East. Kenny D's, The Crab Trap, and Pompano Joe's are all within walking distance to the Beach Retreat Cottages. We encourage you to leave menus of your favorite restaurants when you come.
For evening entertainment, Destin is known for some wonderfully upscale eateries, as well as your regular fare, friendly night life and nearby state of the art movie theater.
The Silver Sands Outlet Mall is a vacation in it’s own right for shoppers you will have access to over 100 stores, including, Polo, Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Liz Claiborne, Tommy Hilfiger, Lenox, Nike and Reebok - just to name a few. When you need to pause for nourishment choose from Panera Bread, Cheeseburger in Paradise or Carrabba's Italian Grill.
More great shopping can be found at the Destin Commons outdoor mall. Enjoy such great stores as Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic, Belk, Books-A-Million & Maui Nix Surf Shop to rattle off a few. Stop for a bite to eat at the Hard Rock Café, Panera Bread, Tony’s Ristorante or Sushi Siam. More than just shopping the Destin Commons Center Plaza offers a soft-play kids playground and a 49-head pop fountain. Community activities and entertainment are held through the year at Destin Commons . Rave Motion Pictures is also housed at Destin Commons to catch the latest releases.
Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resorts offers wonderful dining and specialty stores as well as great festivals & events that are held at the Market Shops Green or the Center Plaza within the Village.
Grande Boulevard offers stores such as Billabong, Brooks Brothers Country Club, Coldwater Creek, J. Crew-at-the-beach, Sunglass Hut, & Tommy Bahama's Emporium as well as great dining at Tommy Bahama’s , Fleming’s, Cantina Laredo (If you dine here sit outside to enjoy the fountain!) & Mitchell’s Fish Market.
The Track Amusement Center in Destin, Florida offers mini golf, Water Bumper Boats, go-carts & for those not faint of heart, Bungee Jumping.
Big Kahuna’s Water Park is a favorite for young & old a like. Take a break from the wonderful Destin, Florida beach & spend the day here.

Destin, Florida is known as the ”World’s Luckiest Fishing Village,” & boasts of being home to the largest fishing vessel fleet in the state of Florida. Fish from the beach or boat. If you do not want to bring your boat, one of Destin’s many charter boats would love the opportunity to take you out for full or half day excursions. Water surrounds Destin with the intercoastal waterway to the north and Gulf on the south, creating an abundance of water sports available, including kayaking, wave running, parasailing, kite surfing, snorkeling and so much more!

This house is in a beautiful community. The house itself is very nice and a good size for a family. It is well equipped and there is little that you will need for your stay. Although our overall assesment is average, this is due to the quality of the living room furniture and master bedroom mattress. If you have back issues, this home may not be for you. For most people, the furniture may be acceptable, but for our needs, it was not. My wife has had back surgery and is prone to back problems. I recognize that this is a rental property and that a landlord needs to make a profit. However, i believe that this home is overdue for at least new living room furniture. This could be a great property with a little investment and would rate a definate recommendation On a more positive note, the property managers that look after this home, are GREAT. They are Kathy and Mike are very helpfull and responsive to any questions or issues. They made our stay more pleaseant.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children.

The cottage was very warm and inviting. It was what we wanted, being close to the beach and convenient to shopping, dining, and sight seeing. This was my first time staying in a vacation rental by owner and I was a little inconvenienced that there were no basic spices or coffee for one morning. Fortunately we arrived before the stores closed and was able to get what we needed for the next morning,Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We have been to Destin several times and have stayed in this particular complex twice, although this was our first year for the beachcomber. We came with my extended family and this house was perfect for our needs. I would highly recommend this house and would definitely stay again. The beach and pool are a short walk, which is great with small children. I like to run as well, and the biking/walking/running path on 98 is perfect.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing.
