This was our third trip to Isla. There was a last minute cancellation at Casita Isladise, and we thought it looked too good to be true. But it was even better! Gorgeous, roomy, luxurious. The hardest thing to decide was which terrace to sit on! We slept better than at home, and we almost did not want to leave to go exploring. But we did. Close walking distance to restaurants, grocery, el norte, and yet so quiet. Cori was so very helpful with information on getting there, recommendations of restaurants, etc. We shall definitely return, as soon as we can! Best vacation ever.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

What a delight to sing the praises of Casa Soñrisa. From our first meeting with the owners, Cori and Pedro, the previous year and having them personally show us their little jewel to the two weeks spent there this year...it was outstanding. A perfect spot. The decor is highlighted by the colorful Mexican tiles and bright Caribbean colors on the walls with the backdrop of the turquoise ocean just beyond the terrace. We could not have asked for a more perfect spot to spend our second visit to Isla Mujeres. More than enough bathroom towels, beach towels, comfy bed, lots of bed pillows to choose from, kitchen amenities for light meals, and an absolute great location. The sound of the sea lulls you to sleep at night. A nice neighborhood and even though on one of the two major streets on the island not a problem with overabundance of traffic and noise during the day. Almost non existence at night. Naval PX across the street for the best liquor prices on the island. Casa Havana and La Lomita down the street for good local food. In Centro our favorite restaurants, Olivia's, Lola Valentina, Angelo's. For breakfast: Mogagua, Mango Cafe, and never never miss the cinnamon rolls at Barlitos. Get there early or reserve the day before. Will at Mundaca was great. Met us at the ferry, accompanied us to Casa Sonrisa, and when it was time to move because our reservation was up picked us up in his van and shuttled us to the next place. We hope to secure a reservation in the future.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Let me start by saying Cori the property owner was great to work with she answered all emails very quickly and helped us with any questions we had. We stayed in Casa Sonrisa over New Years and had a wonderful vacation. To start of we were meet at the ferry by Will from Mundaca(the property manager) and he walked us to the apartment. The apartment looks exactly like the pictures and it was spotless. The views from the balcony were great several of my friends who saw pictures said it could be a corona ad. At night we left the balcony door open and a window on the front door and this created a great breeze and we were able to sleep to the sounds of the ocean. The balcony also has direct access to the malecon, so every morning we would walk on the malecon to the Loncheria's in town for breakfast, about a 10 minute walk. There were also a couple of places to eat just down the street La Lomita and a cuban place that were both very good. Overall this was a great place to stay and very affordable. We had such a good time we have all ready booked for New Years next year.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your review - and we are happy that you enjoyed two of our favorite restaurants and that you are coming back next year! I have passed on your comments to Will and to our wonderful housekeeper, Fatima. They are both great people and we appreciate them too. Until next year - take care. Cori and Pete

We have been coming to isla for the last 10 years and finally found the perfect accomidations. The townhouse is far enough from the hussle & bussle and yet walking distance from everything you need. the View is wonderful from all points, and the Casa is spacious and caringly decorated. I hesitated to write this thinking too many people would find out about our "good thing" Our experience with all involved has been great, we were showed all the details of the Casa from light bulbs to filling the pool. (someplaces just don,t give you enough info.) AFFORDABLE CLEAN D&VRecommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

The other reviewers are right--it's a beautiful place. And we really enjoyed it except for the days when we just wanted to sit on the balcony and read. The construction in neighboring homes went on pretty much from sunrise to sunset, and that noise kept the neighborhood dogs excited. We really liked the Cuban restaurant down the streeet, as well as Justicial Social, Jax, Barlito and La Lomita. Playa Norte is one of the best beaches I've ever enjoyed. We would stay again, but not without checking on the construction progress.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are happy that you enjoyed many of our favorite restaurants and also the beautiful Playa Norte. However, we apologize that the sound of construction interrupted your holiday - it is not possible for us to know what levels of noise there might be in the neighbourhood but we are happy to report that we were just on the island and the new house is lovely and in the final stages of painting and finishing. It is unfortunate that it was so noisy during your stay. Hopefully you can visit again and enjoy only the sound of the waves from the terrace. Sincerely, Cori Holden

We were fortunate enough to stay in Casa Isladise for several days last month and enjoyed every moment of our stay. The spectacular view from the moment you walk in the front door and available from several directions from the second level, are amazing. The vibrant colors just draw you in. The king sized bed is amazingly comfortable and you wake up to wonderful sunrises right from bed. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you will need. The wifi works great as well. Beach bag, beach towels and beach chairs are an example of all the finishing touches included in this great place. Providing a great vacation is clearly a priority for the owners. Checking is smooth with Will from Mundaca making sure you have all the information you need to insure a great stay, Thank you to Pete and Cori for sharing their beautiful Casa with us.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

This review is long overdue. We stayed at Caribbean Casa in late April. What a super condo! Plenty of room, great views, easy walk to anywhere downtown. We were fortunate enough to meet the owners, and that was our great pleasure. Will not think of staying elsewhere on Isla if Caribbean Casa is available. Read the other reviews. Didn't want to repeat what has already been written. They are 100% accurate, Thank you Pete and Cori. Really hope to see you again.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

I absolutely loved staying in Casita Isladise! This 2 level beauty of a place was very hard to leave! Owners - Beyond helpful! The owners are a delight to communicate with. They clearly love their property and are so proud to share it with others. The main floor has a full bathroom, kitchen, sectional sitting area, kitchen table with 2 chairs, plus a full living room, CD player, TV, desk, beautiful storage unit, terrace over the malecon facing the eastern side of the island. The 2nd floor (I loved the top floor!!) is a HUGE bright bedroom with 2 terraces (one east and one west), fantastic dipping pool, full bathroom, desk, comfy bed...it was so amazing to wake up in the morning to this gorgeous room. The biggest decision each day was what terrace did I want to sit on! Photos - It’s just as lovely in real (if not more so) than the photos. What I really liked was the owners have paid so much attention to details. It's very colorful, love the bathroom sinks they're just gorgeous...and all the talavera cups, fish, kleenex box cover etc. It's absolutely lovely! Property Manager - Will is the Property Manager and he was great to work with. He meets you at the Casita and gets you organized with where everything is (light switches, air con remotes etc.) While I had no reason to need anything as the Casa was full of everything and then some, Will isn't far away and is more than happy to help you with anything. What I also liked is that on the last day, Will is happy to store your luggage in his office. Thank you Will! Would you recommend this property to a friend or relative? OK..if I have to...then I'll never get to rent it again! :-D Transportation - You're on the main street of Juarez, taxis come past all the time. Groceries - Super Xpress in Centro as well as one in La Gloria but there's a big Chedraui mid-island that has everything you need There's lots to do there! Check out the great binder full of information in the Casa that the owners have created. It's a wealth of information. Rent a golf cart Eat at one of the many restaurants around the island...my personal favourites are Picus, French Bistro, La Lomita, La Mexicana Chicken, Tacos Tumbras to name a few. Walk the malecon Check out Centro Visit North Beach, Punta Sur, Garrafon de Castillo Thank you for everything Senora Cori and Senor Pedro! What a beautiful place you have! xoRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in Casita Sonrisa in April, and had a wonderful time! About the Casita - nothing too fancy, however it was clean, very well maintained, nice island decor, and the location could not be beat! You are close enough to the downtown area (shopping/restaurants/bars) and beaches to get there by foot within 5-10 minutes, yet its far enough away so you can "get away" from it all when you want. The home is mixed in with other vacation homes as well as the regular population, so you feel like you are part of the neighborhood, and you can get a feel for the culture of the island. It makes you seem like less of a "tourist" which we preferred. The people on the island are very nice and friendly, just say "hola" if you can't speak anything else! Safety was never an issue, as we walked all over very late into the night, and never felt unsafe. Location makes it an easy drive in a golf-cart or scooter to the south part of the island, which we highly recommend doing! We got the best rates from a corner stand on Avenida Vincente Guerrero and Lopez Mateos. There are even more places to eat (as if there aren't enough already in the north?!), and again you are seeing the real people of the island and experiencing it more thoroughly than you would in most other vacation areas of Mexico. We were fortunate enough to meet the owners of the Casita and aside from being very friendly, they were also very informative on where to go and what to do. They have a book in the Casita with all of their recommended places, but may we suggest DaLuisa for a romantic meal, Bally Ho for very tasty fish tacos, Chuuk Kay for their Coconut Shrimp, AA Taqueria for cheap Tortas, but any small/local/family run place will be fantastic! We have never eaten so much on a vacation and wish we could have stayed longer to try more places....everything was wonderful! Thank you for allowing us to stay in Casita Sonrisa, and hopefully we can make it back to try Casita Isladise! We highly recommend traveling to this island, and to this Casita in particular - best deal on the island!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your review. It was so nice to meet you two as well. I appreciate that you felt less like a 'tourist' and that you enjoyed the local people of Isla - we do too! When we get back to the island, we are going to go to all your recommended restaurants and order your suggestions... can't wait :)

We recently spent a wonderful 10 days on Isla Mujeres with Casita Sonrisa as our "home". This is such a beautiful apartment - they have thought of everything you need to make your stay perfect. The apartment and the view of the sea are exactly as portrayed in the photos - the water really is that color of blue! Most days we prepared our breakfast and packed a dive lunch in the well equipped kitchenette - it was great to have the full sized fridge as it allowed us to "stockpile" ice cubes for our back from the beach margaritas! Most nights we ate out at the great Isla Mujeres restaurants and it was so convenient to have the microwave to re-heat the leftovers (portions were really large at most places). We soon learned to forgo dessert with dinner and stop at a house just down the street from the casa where the woman sold the BEST homemade flan! The casita is perfectly located for walking to attractions, beaches, shopping and restaurants, but it far enough away from the hustle and bustle to allow for complete relaxation. We had no trouble hailing taxis near the casita when we wanted to go further a field. The only hitch was the first night we neglected to figure out how to tell the taxi where we wanted to go when it was time to return home and much to the amusement of the taxi driver and his wife I mimed boats and navy soldiers until they guessed "Armada" and we were able to direct them from there! The Naval Base store just across the street is well stocked and fairly priced - great selection of wine. Mention must be made of the help available from the concierge guest representative (in our case Wil) who will meet you at the ferry and escort you to Caribbean Casa -really sets the tone for the holiday. We have rented many Caribbean vacation homes from VRBO and this is among the best and is definitely the CLEANEST apartment we have used (Fatima was the housekeeper and she certainly took pride in her work). We have already booked the entire house for next year so that our adult kids can come along! Thanks Cori and Pete for sharing your slice of paradise with us.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your review! We are so happy that you found your way home that first night! And also thank you for mentioning the Flan Lady! We often buy our 'dessert' ON our way INTO town for dinner :) Her flan is too good to pass by! We agree about Will and Fatima and we will pass on your kind remarks to each of them! Until next year! Gracias, Pedro y Cori

About the owner: We are a semi-retired couple from Canada and discovered Isla Mujeres while we were travelling around the Yucatan. The turquoise water, white sand beaches and the sunsets were stunning. We enjoy the friendly people that we meet on the island and also the wonderful restaurants and relaxed atmosphere while walking through town and the safety we feel everywhere on Isla Mujeres. The beaches are outstanding with their palm trees, white coral sand and azure waters. The restaurants and beach bars that dot the shoreline are perfect for a relaxing getaway. We are constantly impressed by the view of the ocean from the casa and feel very blessed to be able to share this with you.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
We enjoy the unobstructed view of the ocean and the Caribbean breezes. We love the cleanliness and location of the Caribbean Casa. We like that the Navy Store with all the great prices and good selection of wine and beer as well as many other staple items, is just across the street. The access to the sea walk from the Caribbean Casa is such a bonus for a relaxing stroll to some of the famous beaches on Isla Mujeres as well as a very enjoyable walk into Centro. The people of Isla Mujeres are some of the kindest and most gentle people we have ever met and it is a wonderful destination for a relaxing caribbean holiday. Renting a golfcart is a fun way to see the entire island and bikeriding is also another option. Running or walking the sea walk and the coast of the island is something that we do everyday and we look forward to it each morning. Waking up and watching the sunrise is a marvelous way to start the day - and it's amazing to only have to open your eyes and watch the wonder without even getting out of bed!
