My sister, my niece, her husband and i spent a wonderful week at Olga's home in Rome. This home is in not in the center of all of the tourist spot but this is good thing if you want to be able to go home and get some rest after a day of sightseeing. It is within walking distance of almost all of the tourist spots and the little bit of a longer walk is worth it. The home is spacious, warm and it makes you feel like you are visiting an old friend. We enjoyed the kitchen, the library, the way the windows open up to allow the fresh air and the terraces. The master bedroom is towards the back and very quite. The rest of the house provides a lot of natural light and the only place that has a little noise is the office/library area. You don't have to pack as though you are going to a hotel because the washer and dryer there work well and can save you a lot of the hassle with carrying more luggage as you would if you were going to stay in a hotel. Her housekeeper that greets you provides a thorough walk through and even tells you where the better grocery stores are. Please know that this home has a lot of history to it so if you are looking for a modern home, this is not it. It is an older home with a lot of character but it is wonderfully maintained and clean. If you decide to rent from Olga, we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

I chose this appartment to take my two adult children, plus partners for a weekend in Rome, it was fabulous! The appartment is walking distance of all the main attractions and just across the river from small, friendly restaurants. The appartment is like a museum, the library and snooker table proved extremely popular with my children. There is a great little mini market around the corner for all breakfast, wine and snacks needed and the kitchen was fully equipped, should I have wanted to cook! A great experience.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Keep in mind - this is a TWO BEDROOM apartment (one of which has a very low ceiling), with a twin bed in a loft upstairs (with a VERY low ceiling) and a double-bed pull-out sofa bed in the study. It has a lot of antiques in the house and a fully usable kitchen, but a number of the expected amenities were not there (toilet paper, light bulbs burned out, wall switches not working, at times no hot water). If you can handle those issues, it has a wonderful patio for gathering together at the end of the day and a great location, with views of the Tiber. It was an experience... Overall, good.Recommended for: Tourists without a car.

Loved the apartment. Hints: 1. To use the lift, go inside. CLOSE the doors, Then push 5. The apt is on the fifth floor. Make sure the elevator has come to a complete stop before trying to open the door. It goes up a little bit above the floor and comes back down before finally settling in. Close the doors again when you get off so it will go back up or down for the next person. 2. Have Cash. I emailed the owner and she indicated that we could pay with Euros when we got there or by PayPal. I planned on PayPal, but the housekeeper had no clue about that. (I probably should have worked that our better with the owner and told her definitely that we were planning on Pay Pal.) We had to go on search of an ATM to withdraw enough for the rent. 3. Learn some basic Italian. (Or have a translation book or a computer with you that can translate words. I would recommend that the owner have some basic instructions written in English (and other languages) that the housekeeper could give to the renter. This would probably ease confusion. There were three small cans in the kitchen labeled in Italian. I assumed one was for paper, one for food items and one for other trash. There was a washer in the kitchen and a dryer upstairs. Again, English instructions would have been helpful. Fortunately, my friend had an American washer just like this one, so she knew how to set the dials. The drier was tricky. Clothes didn't seem to get dry until we figured out that there was no drain, so I looked for a water reservoir which needed to be emptied. There it was. We watered the plants on the terrace with it. I would have hung more on the terrace, but couldn't fi 4. Make sure the housekeeper shows you how to use the keys for the apartment and practice with them to be sure you can unlock it. I found that you had to turn the key several times to completely unlock the door. There are 3 keys. One for the front door, one for the door between the front and the elevator, and one for the apartment. I felt very safe. 5. Look carefully outside the door before stepping outside the apartment building. It opens onto a main road, and the drivers are crazy. 6. Turn to your left immediately after coming out of the apartment building and left at the end of the block. There is a wonderful Gelato shop too easily available to this apartment! 7. If you buy a hop-on/hop-off bus ticket for Rome, there is a stop near the synagogue. The bus stop is near there, too. 8. Enjoy the artwork.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We were a group of 6. This penthouse was truly lovely with so much room for us all. We used the Roma Cristiania HoHo bus (stop #12 is very close) combined with a metro pass and were able to enjoy much of Rome in our 3 days there. 2 of us walked from the Pantheon area back to Via Guilia one night while the others took a cab and we arrived simultaneously, so this apartment is truly within walking distance of major sites. For our morning coffee we walked across the Ponte Sisto into Trastavere and found 2 shops that met our need for an early a.m. caffeine fix. Manuel was delightful and communication was an enjoyable challenge. (It would have been helpful to have a looseleaf binder with pertinent info about the penthouse and nearby groceries, wine shops, etc. written in several languages.) Also, more wine glasses, please! We found only one! The A/C units worked very well- we really only needed them in the bedrooms. Each bathroom was uniquely charming. Loved the lift for it's character and so glad that it was there! We are so pleased that we were able to stay in this fabulous apartment for our time in Rome. Thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We loved the apartment, the views, the location, everything. There were three couples. We drew staws for the bedrooms and my husband and I got the sleep sofa in the office. I thought OH NO!, but it was great. The mattress was not you typical sleep sofa and the bedding was very nice. The weather was wonderful and we had the windows wide open every night. Manuel was a great help when we arrived. Although, we didn't speak each others language we communicated with sign language and laughed a lot. The buidling is fantastic and the street and the community was wonderful. We walked every where. It was a great location. One of the guides we employed said it was the best location around. The apartment was very big and we never got in each others way. The terrace was great for wine and cheese in the evenings before dinner. We didn't get to play pool, but it was an option. Olga was very pleasant and easy to work with as far as deposits and paying the balance due. All in all it was a very positive experience and I will recommend this apartment to my friends.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

Very cool apartment. It was an added piece of art to marvel at during our time in Rome. Very spacious and beautiful views. Convenient. Couldn't believe the walkability of Rome. The market place was awesome. We spent a good deal of time there b/c we loved it so much. Get items from the market to have back when you get back from exploring. Wine - 3 bottles for 10 euro! Meats, cheeses, breads, veggies, fruits, espresso... so fresh and good. Close to the sites and vendors. Everything went well. The description is acurate. Olga was very responsive. Manuel was helpful. Thanks to them for being a part of making our vacation a great time!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

First of all, the caretaker does NOT speak nor understand English. The heat is provided by HOT WATER radiators and hot water is heated by a small on-demand hot water heater. Hot water for the showers was erratic at best and undependable. Heat was very difficult to control. Light switches were numerous and difficult to learn which did what(some didn't do anything - and we never could turn off some living room lights.) The upper bedrooms are a joke as one cannot stand straight up to get dressed! Compared to other Rome listings, I would say this property is way over-priced. But we still endured and had a good time in spite of the first major snowfall since 1985.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We hesitated to book this apt as it looked too good to be true but it is exactly as portrayed by the pictures if not better. We felt like we were in an art gallery with all the antique furniture and paintings. We enjoyed the terrace at night after walking throughout the city during the day and enjoyed the local wine and food bought at Campo di Fiori - where we went daily. Enjoyed the galleries and shops on your street as the location was very central so we had no need for taxis or buses. We are hoping that we can stay there again some day and will recommend it to any friends visiting Rome. Manuel was very helpful and gave us a thorough orientation of the apartment. .Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
the penthouse is very charming. I feel a sense of quiet; the house is very huge and silent and it looks like as one of us had lived all of our life there.
Via Giulia is very quite and the master bedroom looks at the Palazzo Spada garden, so you do not have any noise.
You can stay there without going out but
the neighborhood is very charming: it is plenty of little restaurants, pubs, cafe, vinerie, art and craft stores, antiques. So you have a choice !
