The home retains much of its original charm with its wide plank flooring yet adds modern touches such as updated kitchen, gas fireplace, wireless internet access, and HD Cable TV. Excellent location for skiers and non-skiers alike, with ALL village amenities within walking distance including the free Mountain Road Shuttle. The property overlooks the historic Green Mountain Inn & the Vermont Ski Museum. The spacious downstairs includes eat-in kitchen, dining room, two separate living areas, and a full bath. Two bedrooms upstairs share a large bathroom with claw foot bath tub/shower. Master bedroom includes a queen bed and walk in closet and second bedroom has two extra long twin beds.
Canoeing & Kayaking: The beautiful lakes and rivers of the Green Mountains are best enjoyed from a canoe or kayak. If you don’t have much experience, the American Canoe Association has certified guides that can take you out and show the skills necessary to enjoy a day out on the water.
Within a short distance of Stowe lie many great rivers and peaceful lakes. The Lamoille and Winooski rivers wind through farms and forested countryside and offer excellent river trips. Lake Elmore is easily accessible and features a state campground and beach, and the Green River Reservoir is a pristine and undeveloped area, good for getting away from it all.
The following companies offer canoe and kayak rentals and trips:
AJ's Ski & Sports
Umiak Outfitters
Pinnacle Ski & Sports
Fishing: Anglers from novice to expert will enjoy the fishing in the Stowe area. To find the best spots, hire a local guide and your sure to hook into some big fish. The local waters hold healthy populations of trout, bass and pike
The Lamoille and Winooski Rivers are two of the more popular trout fisheries close to Stowe. The best times to visit are early summer and then again in the fall when the fish are beefing up for the winter. The smaller rivers in the area is where you’ll find some native brook trout, a small beautiful fish that thrives in the mountain waters.
If it’s bass you are interested in, check out one of the many lakes and reservoirs scattered throughout the area.
The staff at Catamount Fishing Adventures is very knowledgeable and offers guided tours as well as condition reports on their website.
Biking & Hiking: Cottonbrook, Old Country Road, Stowe Hollow and Brownsville are some of the popular mountain biking trails in the area. They are maintained by the Stowe Mountain Bike Club. Several local bike shops offer guided tours to help you get out and explore the trails.
A mellower option which is good for families is to ride the Recreation Path as it wanders through forests and meadows beside the West Branch River. You can stop to shop & eat along the way when you need a break.
From mellow walks to soaring peaks, there are trails for hikers of all abilities around Stowe.
Weissner Woods is a 80 acres of land that has been preserved in its natural state for all to enjoy. Wildlife commonly seen in Wiessner Woods include partridge, thrush, grouse, falcons, and owls, as well as deer, fox, and an occasional bear or moose.

The Wright house is very clean and has anything you would want in a vacation getaway including wireless Internet. It is right in downtown Stowe with walking distances to shops, restaurants, and bars. As a skier it is ideal and only minutes away from Stowe mountain resort. Will come back every year to enjoy this perfect Vermont getaway!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Large TV referenced in review has been replaced with flat screen which allows for much more room in back living room and another flat screen has been installed in the front living room. Thank you for the suggestion.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed in the Wright house for 4 nights. We had a great time and the cottage was well stocked and clean. I was surprised as a cook how well the kitchen was stocked along with the quality. We liked that you could walk anywhere downtown easily. The only reason this did not score a 5 is the upstairs tub is not friendly, especially if you are tall. The TV room is in the area with the pull out couch so if you have more than 4 people it makes it difficult...maybe put the big TV in the living room. Other than that it was perfect and would rent again if we come back to Stowe.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+.
